EUROPE made a new start in 2005 with the first reunion “START FROM THE DARK”. A professional shot work that should be called “another LIVE FROM THE DARK” is now available.
This work was filmed on “March 19, 2005 in St. Petersburg”. It is the multi-camera pro shot. At the beginning, I suddenly mentioned the name of the official video “LIVE FROM THE DARK”, but of course this work is a separate performance. In order to grasp the situation around that, let’s first look back at the schedule at the time when the reunion began.

This is EUROPE in 2004/2005. While the official video “LIVE FROM THE DARK” was filmed in London (Hammersmith Apollo) on the last day of 2004, this work is the 8th performance of “Europe # 4”, which was also their first Russian performance. bottom.
This work, which conveys such a stage, is a unique professional shot with a different atmosphere from “LIVE FROM THE DARK”, although it is superb. The factor is probably the locality of Russia, which was a rock developing country. Although it is a local TV broadcast, the stage lighting and camera work are awkward, and compared to 2005’s “LIVE FROM THE DARK”, it feels like the 90’s. Is it a shabby image? That’s not to say. Whether it is the maintenance of the leader of the communist bloc, even if the sense is outdated, the equipment, image quality, sound quality and video quality itself are firmly in 2005, and the visual beauty by the best master is definitely the best. The cross-cultural feeling with Cyrillic letters and telops such as “23:09:52” and “-4.2℃” (probably the time and temperature at that time) is also interesting.

そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2005年３月19日サンクトペテルブルク公演」。そのマルチカメラ・プロショットです。冒頭でいきなり公式映像『LIVE FROM THE DARK』の名前を出してしまいましたが、もちろん本作は別公演。その辺の状況を把握するためにも、まずは再結成が始まった当時のスケジュールから振り返ってみましょう。

これが2004年／2005年のEUROPE。公式映像『LIVE FROM THE DARK』は2004年最終日のロンドン（ハマースミス・アポロ）で撮影されたのに対し、本作は彼ら初のロシア公演でもあった「欧州#4」の８公演目でした。
そんなステージを伝える本作は、極上ながらも『LIVE FROM THE DARK』とは雰囲気の異なる独特なプロショット。その要因はロック発展途上国だったロシアという土地柄でしょう。現地のTV放送なのですが、ステージのライティングやカメラワークがぎこちなく、いかにも2005年ば『LIVE FROM THE DARK』と比べるとやや時代の遅れた90年代っぽく感じられる。ではショボい映像か？というとさにあらず。共産圏の盟主の維持なのか、センスは時代遅れでも機材や画質・音質や映像クオリティ自体はしっかりと2005年ですし、ベスト・マスターによる映像美は間違いなく極上。キリル文字や「23:09:52」「-4.2℃」といったテロップ（恐らく当時の時刻や気温でしょう）が入る異文化感も面白いのです。
そして何よりライヴそのものが圧倒的に素晴らしい。ここでセットを整理しておきましょう。

そして、そんなセットを綴るパフォーマンスが実にイイ。再結成して間もない勢いが素晴らしく、事前に欧州／日本を巡っているだけにアンサンブルもカンも取り戻している。そこに初めてのロシアに挑みかかるようなテンションも上乗せ。最初は客もバンドも緊張しつつ、グイグイと調子を上げていくのが手を取るように分かる。かつて初めてのアジア人を前にしたDEEP PURPLEが本来以上の力量を発揮して『MADE IN JAPAN』を生み出した故事を思い起こさせる熱演が繰り広げられるのです。
まさに「ロシア版LIVE FROM THE DARK」。そして、復活来日の想い出もリアルに蘇るマルチカメラ・プロショットです。単に絶好調のフルショウが楽しめるだけでなく、ロシア放送の異国情緒まで面白い映像傑作。どうぞ、ベスト・マスターの本作で存分にお楽しみください。

★「2005年３月19日サンクトペテルブルク公演」のマルチカメラ・プロショット。画質・音質は（当時の）オフィシャル級ながら照明やカメラワークのセンスがイモ臭く、キリル文字の気温テロップといったロシアの異国情緒も面白い。ただし、ライヴ内容は燃え上がる大熱演で、再結成直後かつ初ロシアに臨むハイテンションが圧倒的。まさに「ロシア版LIVE FROM THE DARK」となる１枚です。
