Eric Clapton / Budokan 2023 3rd Night / 2CD/ Tricone
Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 19th April 2023
Permanent preservation press release from Eric Clapton’s Japan Tour 2023. Next is the best stereo audience master of the 3rd day performance on April 19th! Last week, the 2CDR “Budokan 2023 Day 2″, which was pleased with the super-fast release, was well received for its high-quality sound, but if it were to be released on a press CD, I would definitely like to release a special super-high-quality board. I was there. Therefore, it will be the master of this work, but it is our completely original master, and the recording seat is the arena B4 block. It is very clear and easy to listen to, the sound balance is excellent, and it has a quality suitable for a press board. Let me also say affirmatively about this work. This work is the highest peak in the sound source of the 3rd day performance! Please feel free to add this work to your collection.
[A gem that allows you to experience the whole performance of the third day with waves more realistically! ]By the way, this third day of the performance started with turmoil and ended with stability, so it was quite an impressive day. This day was a series of performances from the second day (18th and 19th), so I was worried about getting old and tired. I thought it would be better to leave at least one day between performances like the Stones’ recent tour. Mistone is scattered in Clapton who was playing so accurately and fulfilling. I want to play fast, but I get tangled. I don’t feel well. In the following Pretending, he forgot to switch on the wah pedal on his head. ON from the middle. The vocal pitch is also very unstable. From the beginning, he was nervous, but it is a big mistake to say that he was in a bad mood. In I Shot The Sheriff, the highlight song in the first half, the vocals are in great shape, and the solo of the post-play is the best in the last three days, showing off a wonderful play. No mistones are mixed in the fast playing here. Clapton-like slow hand playing style explodes one after another. The audience is also surprised and applauds this solo in the song. This is why there is no end to people who watch all performances of Clapton live.
And Sam Hall of the acoustic set. Before the song, Clapton commented, “This song is an Irish traditional song that is sung at funerals.I will sing for Jeff.” Even the opening is dedicated to Beck, and the acoustic set also makes me think of Beck. During the performance in Japan, Clapton’s feelings for Beck are hot all the time. And on this day, Procol Harum’s “blue shadow” inserted in the song of Tears In Heaven is played only by the organ. It seems to have calmed down in this form. I feel that this is more suitable because Gary Brooker, who is in mourning, was a keyboard player.
Furthermore, the highlight is Layla at the end of the regular set! It was a wonderful performance that picked up on the second day, but this day is also wonderful! Vocals are solid. The vocal line of the third chorus, which was intentionally changed a little, is wonderful. In these places, Clapton’s singing skills stand out. And a guitar solo! On this day as well, it is assembled with a rich phrase that can only be played by Clapton, but Emory’s synchronized drumming, which is immediately linked to Clapton’s fast-playing phrase shown in the middle, is thrilling and thrilling. Did Emory wait for Clapton to respond as soon as he played fast? These moments are the real thrill of live performances. As far as listening to this work, although the accumulation of fatigue was seen in the early stage, it gradually regained its condition and showed a wonderful performance after the middle stage. I got the impression that the goals we lost in the early stages were recovered in the middle stage and onwards, and that the game ended with an overwhelming amount of change in the end. In terms of the quality of the total performance, it can be said that it was a difficult result to compare with the second day. As long as there was a wave, I can enjoy this third day. Please enjoy it realistically with this superb sound quality.
