Last week, Eric Clapton’s latest European tour released a complete recording of the best audience shots of the Amsterdam 2DAYS performance on June 7th and 8th, and the Antwerp performance four days later was also decided to be released this week. In addition, two days later, the best complete recording audience shot video of the Copenhagen 2DAYS performance has also appeared. Therefore, it is decided to release it again in a 2-disc set! Apparently the photographer enthusiastically chased Clapton’s European tour to the end. The shooting angles for the Copenhagen performances on June 14th and 15th included in this work are the same as the Antowerp performances on the 12th, on both days facing the stage on the left 1st floor stand (Nippon Budokan and Saitama Super Arena, that). It feels like a stand on the first floor) It is an angle from about 30 °. This angle is the best, because it captures Clapton playing perfectly, including the guitar. Not only the Stratocaster on the electric set, but also Martin on the acoustic set captures the whole view of the guitar with Clapton (it is a stable shooting from the beginning to the end). The image quality is very beautiful, and Clapton’s up-shots are often used. In the video on the 14th, only I Shot The Sheriff will switch to the screenshot on the upper left of the stage, and in the video on the 15th, only the acoustic set part will switch to the screenshot. This solves the mystery that the screenshots of the Amsterdam show on the 8th released last week were monochrome tones. The image on the screen itself was monochrome. And the audio is completely recorded with a very good stereo audience recording on both days, with no cuts or troubles. In this Copenhagen 2DAYS performance, Clapton is a dandy in a dark suit. He looks good with a little longer hair and looks very intriguing (Clapton definitely looks cooler with the hairstyle in this video than with short hair close to a shaven). The best footage of the two performances that perfectly captured the whole picture of the reopened tour. It is a wonderful image that you can re-enjoy the energetic appearance of professional Clapton who does not feel the influence even if he is sick. As a result, the performance postponed due to Copenhagen’s own coronavirus infection was rescheduled in the fall, and the scheduled performance in Russia was canceled due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Copenhagen performance was the previous performance from the aura of this tour. In other words, this work is a recording of the stage of almost the last 2 performances of the tour. The tour was also at the end, and considering Clapton’s physical condition of getting sick from coronavirus infection, after resuming the tour, I felt that it was fixed to the set list with as little physical burden as possible, but now it is acoustic. There was a change in the first song of the set. On the first day, I brought Worried Life Blues, which I used to play a lot from the late 70’s to the early 80’s. Filled with nostalgia, on the second day, like the Antwerp performance, Mean Old World is shown again. Speaking of this song, it is the number of memories of having a session with the late Duane Allman in Dobro during the Dominos era. Clapton’s heart always had memories of this song (I’m glad I could confirm it). The song was also played on the 1975 US tour, but as an electric version by the band. This is the first narrated version of this song in his long career. It’s worth watching this performance alone. The blues harp performance by Doyle Bramhall is also great. In this Copenhagen performance, you can hear a fairly aggressive solo with Preteding on both days, and the delicate phrasing after I Shot The Sheriff is noteworthy. Especially on the final day of this number, he shows us the trick of switching from picking to fingering during a solo and then back to picking. Clapton’s fingertips are okay because you can play this delicately! The serious side effects of the corona vaccine are also attributed to his original neurosis, but he can be confident that he is no longer worried about it. He may declare that he has achieved a “full resurrection” just before the end of the tour. And since Clapton is a live musician from the beginning, he hasn’t played the same thing as one on the same set list for two days. All solos are ad lib, so in that sense, it can be said that these two performances have different tastes and can be enjoyed. It’s nice to see Clapton, who has made a comeback, survive the tour energetically.

先週、エリック・クラプトンの最新ヨーロッパツアーから、6月7日と8日のアムステルダム2DAYS公演の極上オーディエンスショット完全収録映像をリリースし、その4日後のアントワープ公演も今週リリース決定となりましたが、何と！さらにその2日後のコペンハーゲン2DAYS公演の極上完全収録オーディエンスショット映像も登場となりました。そのため、また2枚組での緊急リリース決定です！どうやら撮影者は熱狂的にクラプトンのヨーロッパツアーを最終まで追いかけたようですね。本作に収められた6月14日、15日のコペンハーゲン公演での撮影アングルは、12日のアントワープ公演同様、両日ともステージに向かって左の1階スタンド（日本武道館や埼玉スーパーアリーナの、あの1階スタンドの感じです）30°くらいからの角度です。この角度はベストとも言えるもので、なぜならプレイするクラプトンをギター込みで完璧に捉えているからです。エレクトリックセットでのストラトキャスターはもちろんのこと、アコースティックセットでのマーティンもクラプトンとともにギターの全景が捉えられています（冒頭から最後まで徹頭徹尾安定した撮影です）。非常にきれいな画質で、クラプトンのアップショットも多用されています。14日の映像では、I Shot The Sheriffのみステージ左上のスクリーンショットに切り替わり、15日の映像では、アコースティックセットパートのみスクリーンショットに切り替わります。これで、先週リリースの8日のアムステルダム公演のスクリーンショットのトーンがモノクロだった謎が解けました。スクリーンの映像そのものがモノクロだったというわけです。そして音声は両日とも非常に良好なステレオ・オーディエンス録音で完全収録されており、カットやトラブルは皆無です。このコペンハーゲン2DAYS公演では、クラプトンはダークスーツ姿のダンディないでたちです。少し長めの髪もよく似合っており、ルックス的にも非常にそそられます（クラプトンは坊主に近い短髪よりも、絶対この映像の髪型の方がかっこいいです）。再開されたツアーの全貌をまたも完璧に捉えた2公演の極上映像。病み上がりにもかかわらず、その影響を微塵も感じさせないプロフェッショナルなクラプトンの元気な姿を再び堪能できる素晴らしい映像です。先週の続編として、本作も是非コレクションに加えていただければと思います。

ということで、クラプトン自身のコロナウィルス感染により延期された公演は秋にリスケされ、予定されていたロシアでの公演は、ロシアのウクライナ侵攻を非難してキャンセルということになりましたので、結果的にはコペンハーゲン公演がこのツアーのオーラスから一つ前の公演となりました。つまり本作はツアーのほぼラスト2公演のステージを収録したものだということです。ツアーも終盤となり、しかもコロナウィルス感染症からの病み上がりというクラプトンの体調を考慮し、ツアー再開後はなるべく体への負担の少ないセットリストに固定化された感がありましたが、ここにきてアコースティックセットの1曲目に変化がありました。初日には70年代末期～80年代初めにかけてよくプレイしていたWorried Life Bluesをもってきました。懐かしい思いでいっぱいになるところ、2日目にはアントワープ公演同様、Mean Old Worldを再び披露しています。この曲と言えば、ドミノス時代に故デュエイン・オールマンとドブロでセッションした思い出のナンバーです。クラプトンの心には、ずっとこの曲の思い出が残っていたのですね（それが確認できただけでも嬉しいことです）。75年全米ツアーでもこの曲はプレイされましたが、それはバンドによるエレクトリックバージョンとしてでした。この曲の弾き語りバージョンは、彼の長いキャリア上でもこれが初となります。このパフォーマンスを観られるだけでも価値ありです。ドイル・ブラムホールによるブルースハープのパフォーマンスも最高です。このコペンハーゲン公演では、両日ともPretedingでなかなかアグレッシヴなソロが聴けるのと、I Shot The Sheriffの後奏での繊細なフレージングが特筆ものです。特に最終日のこのナンバーでは、ソロ中にピックから指弾きに切り替え、そしてまたピック弾きに戻るという小技を見せてくれます。こんな繊細なプレイが出来るのですから、クラプトンの指先はもう大丈夫です！コロナワクチンでの重篤な副反応も、元より患っていた神経症が原因と言われていますが、もはやその心配はないと断言できます。ツアー最終を目前にして「完全復活」を遂げたと宣言してもいいでしょう。そして元よりライブミュージシャンであるクラプトンですから、2日間が同じセットリストでも一つとして同じプレイをしていません。ソロはすべてアドリブですから、そういう意味でこの2公演は、それぞれまた違った味わいがあって楽しめると言えるでしょう。復帰を果たしたクラプトンが元気にツアーを乗り切った姿を確認できることが嬉しいところです。
