The 50th anniversary tour finally came to Japan. Two original recordings of the highest grade that will be breaking news of the latest show in which Michael McDonald also participated will be released at the same time!

A total of 8 performances. By the time this article is published, the two performances in Osaka will probably be over. The final Hiroshima performance is still left, and you can understand that it is a breaking news release that is in progress in real time. The Yokohama performance of this work is the third performance of such a Japan tour. It was a concert the day after the simultaneous release “BUDOKAN 2023”.
This work, which vacuum-packed such a scene, is a superb audience with “super”. Actually, it is a sister collection by the same recording artist as the main recording of “BUDOKAN 2023”, but the sound is equivalent to “BUDOKAN 2023” … or maybe even more. Those who have read the commentary of “BUDOKAN 2023” first may think “Didn’t you say official class?” . To be frank, it’s hard to say which one is better between “BUDOKAN 2023” and this work, depending on your taste. However, if I had to say, “BUDOKAN 2023” would be the one for those who value the clarity of the treble, and this would be the one for those who want to value the richness of the mid-low range as well. Of course, this work is not weak in treble, but rather this work is better in the overall balance from treble to heavy bass. Furthermore, there is no presence of nearby customers in this work. Of course, when it comes to songs, the thunderous applause wraps the venue, but there is no clapping during the performance, so you can concentrate on the ensemble. Such a point also makes you feel the official flavor strongly.
We have devised various expressions while introducing many recordings, but the highest grade is the “Official Masterpiece Class”. Despite the audience recording, this work comes perfectly with superlative expressions that are originally used only for sound boards. Naturally, permanent preservation press was also considered, but now it is in the middle of the never-ending “50th anniversary visit to Japan”. 以上、全８公演。本稿が公開される頃には、きっと大阪２公演が終わった辺り。まだ最終の広島公演が残されており、まさにリアルタイムで進行中の速報リリースなのがご理解頂けるでしょう。本作の横浜公演は、そんなジャパンツアーの３公演目。同時リリース『BUDOKAN 2023』の翌日にあたるコンサートでした。
そんな現場を真空パックした本作は「超」の付く極上オーディエンス。実は『BUDOKAN 2023』のメイン録音と同じ録音家による姉妹作コレクションなのですが、そのサウンドは『BUDOKAN 2023』と同等……か、それ以上かもしれません。『BUDOKAN 2023』の解説を先に読まれた方は「オフィシャル級って言ってなかった？」と思われるかも知れませんが、その言葉にうそ偽りなく、その点では本作も同じなのです。つまりは公式作品にも温室の差異はあるわけで、今回の姉妹作もそれと同じレベルにあるというわけです。
ぶっちゃけ、『BUDOKAN 2023』と本作は好みによってどっちが上とも言い難い。が、強いて言うなら高音のヌケを重視される方なら『BUDOKAN 2023』、中低音まで含めたリッチ感も大事にされたい方なら本作でしょう。もちろん、本作とて高音が弱いわけではなく、むしろ高音から重低音まで全体のバランスでは本作の方が優れている。さらに言えば、本作には間近客の存在感がない。もちろん曲間になれば万雷の喝采が会場を包みますが、演奏中には手拍子などがなく、アンサンブルに集中できる。そんな点もオフィシャル風味を強く感じさせるのです。
幾多の録音をご紹介する中で様々な表現を考案してきましたが、その最上級なのが「オフィシャル名盤級」。本作はオーディエンス録音にも関わらず、本来サウンドボードにしか使わない最上級表現がピッタリと来る。当然、永久保存プレス化も検討されたのですが、現在は二度とない「50周年来日」の真っ最中。そんな「今」を最大限に楽しんでいただきたく、Uxbridgeレーベルからのご紹介とさせていただきました。
