Rumors of a reunion that has been increasing day by day since the joint tour with LYNCH MOB realized in 2020. A masterpiece video of the George Lynch co-starring show, which is at the forefront of this, is now available.
This work was shot at “March 25, 2022 St. Charles Performance”. It is the superb view audience shot. Even though the joint tour in 2020 was small, co-starring was realized every night in the encore and the topic was disseminated, but immediately after that, the activity itself was stopped by the new Corona Pandemic. Here, let’s review their “afterwards” schedule and check their status.

This is the currently announced 2021/2022 schedule. It cannot be said that it is a full-scale restart in terms of the number of venues, and you can still see the feeling of self-paced, such as exploring while watching the situation of the scene. This year’s main event is “North America # 3”, which is about to begin, but this work was a shoulder-breaking show before that. Actually, the current relationship between DOKKEN and George seems to be “George is the undercard in the area where the places overlap”, and although he does not accompany the tour, he has realized a little co-starring and announced in advance. This year, in addition to this work, we are planning to co-star in the Manistee performance on April 23 and the Tarlock performance on September 17.
Anyway, this work, which is a vacuum-packed version of such a St. Charles performance, is a superb view of the “close to mess!” In the first place, images with few (or no) obstructions are called “superb views”, but there are various types. Whether you’re using the railing on the stand as a tripod or looking down from the second floor, you don’t have to get in the way for whatever reason. Under such circumstances, this work is a superb view of the “front row = few customers in front” system. Slightly to the left (closer to John Levin), probably in the 3rd or 4th row from the front. The passengers in front of us are also moving, but the number is small and we can’t raise our arms, so it doesn’t interfere with our vision.
The latest DOKKEN full show can be experienced in such a superb view. George will only participate in the three encore songs (+ jam), and the main guitarist will be Levin. Let’s organize the set by album.

…… And it looks like this. The balance is 10 Levin songs / 3 Lynch songs, but all the songs are selected during the George era. And the performance that spells the set is … surprisingly good (excuse me!). It is the default that Don does not make a voice in recent years, and even this work is not reminiscent of the heyday. However, there is no complete out-of-tune, and since the melody is carefully followed, there is no sense of incongruity, and the high notes that do not come out can be handled in harmony with other members without overdoing it. When I listen to it carefully, I often use fake, but I wonder if I’ve been able to step on the number of places (bitter smile), and it produces a low but natural melody. The genius sense that sounded as a melody maker is still alive and well.
And George appeared at the end of the game. As mentioned above, the position of this work is to the right of the center. In other words, it’s right in front of George! Since 2020, co-starring has been fixed at “Kiss Of Death,” “When Heaven Comes Down,” and “Tooth And Nail,” and the same is true tonight. And the performance is … George, the sound is big (laughs). In the main story, the performance and vocals have been balanced, but it collapsed at once with the appearance of George. The razor guitar has completely jumped into the lead role and Don has been wiped out.
It wasn’t a musical compliment when trying to argue seriously, but George appeared! Considering the significance of and catharsis, this sound is a great answer. You can enjoy a star-like guitar explosion that blows away the memory of Levin who had been playing perfectly until then. In addition, this video basically displays telops such as the song title and (photographer’s?) Logo, but for the three songs (+ jam) co-starring with George, the telop is included from the main part. It is recorded in two types without telop.
Don and George are now jumping out to the words, “I’m enjoying co-starring more than I expected” and “We’re talking about whether we should reunite.” They often face each other during the co-starring, and the songs are entwined in a good mood. It is a superb view work that you can experience such a good situation from the special seat “in front of George”. One piece that can anticipate the dream time that may come again. Please enjoy it carefully.

2020年に実現したLYNCH MOBとの共同ツアー以降、日に日に熱量が上がっている再結成の噂。その最前線となるジョージ・リンチ共演ショウの傑作映像が登場です。
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2022年３月25日セント・チャールズ公演」。その絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。2020年の共同ツアーは小規模と言えどもアンコールで毎晩共演が実現して話題を振りまいたわけですが、直後に新型コロナ・パンデミックによって活動自体が停止してしまいました。ここでは「その後」をスケジュールでおさらいしつつ、彼らの近況もチェックしてみましょう。

これが現在公表されている2021年／2022年のスケジュール。場数的に本格再始動とは言えず、まだシーンの状況を眺めながら探り探り……といった感じのマイペースぶりがうかがえます。今年のメインはもうすぐ始まる「北米#3」なわけですが、本作はその前の肩慣らし的なショウだったわけです。実は現在のDOKKENとジョージの関係は「場所が重なる地域はジョージが前座」という感じでして、ツアーに同行はしていないものの、ちょいちょい共演も実現しており事前に告知している。今年は本作の他に、４月23日マニスティー公演や９月17日ターロック公演でも共演予定です。
ともあれ、そんなセント・チャールズ公演を真空パックした本作は「メチャクチャ近い！」系の絶景映像。そもそも遮蔽物が少ない（あるいはまったくない）映像を「絶景」と呼んでいるわけですが、種類は様々。スタンド席の手すりを三脚代わりにしていたり、２階席から見下ろしていたり、どんな理由であれ、邪魔が入らなければいいわけです。そんな中で本作は「前方列＝前の客が少ない」系の絶景。やや左寄り（ジョン・レヴィン寄り）で恐らくは前から３?４列目という激近ポジション。前方客も移ってはいるのですが、数が少なく腕も上げないために視界の邪魔にならないのです。
そんな間近絶景で体験できるのは、最新DOKKENのフルショウ。ジョージが参加するのはアンコールの３曲（＋ジャム）だけであり、メイン・ギタリストはあくまでもレヴィンです。では、そのセットをアルバム毎に整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。レヴィン10曲／リンチ３曲というバランスですが、選曲はすべてジョージ時代です。そして、そのセットを綴るパフォーマンスは……意外と良い（失礼！）。近年のドンは声が出ないのがデフォであり、本作でも全盛期を彷彿とさせる……とはいかない。しかし、完全な調子っ外れがなく、メロディを丁寧に追っているので違和感がなく、出ない高音も無理することなく他メンバーとのハーモニーでこなす。よくよく聴くとフェイクも多用していたりするのですが、場数を踏んでこなれたのか（苦笑）、低いながらも自然なメロディを生み出している。メロディ・メイカーとして鳴らした天才的なセンスは今なお健在なのです。
そして、終盤になってジョージが登場。前述した通り、本作のポジションはセンターよりも右寄り。つまり、ジョージの目の前なのです！　2020年から共演は「Kiss Of Death」「When Heaven Comes Down」「Tooth And Nail」で固定されており、今夜も同様。そして、その演奏は……さすがジョージ、音がデカい（笑）。本編では演奏とヴォーカルがバランスを取ってきましたが、ジョージ登場と共に一気に崩壊。完全にカミソリ・ギターが主役に躍り出てドンが掻き消されている。
マジメに論じようとすると音楽的に褒められた話ではないのですが、ジョージ登場！の意義とカタルシスを考えれば、この音は大正解。それまで見事に弾ききっていたレヴィンの記憶を一気に吹っ飛ばすスター然としたギター大爆発が楽しめるのです。なお、この映像は基本的に曲名や（撮影者の？）ロゴ等のテロップが表示されているのですが、ジョージとの共演３曲（＋ジャム）に関しては本編から通してのテロップ入りと、テロップなしの２種類で収録されています。
「思ってた以上に共演を楽しんでるよ」「俺達は再結成するべきじゃないかって話し合ってるんだ」との言葉まで飛び出している現在のドンとジョージ。共演中も頻繁に向かい合い、曲間も良いムードで絡んでいるのです。そんな良好な現状を「ジョージの目の前」という特等席から体験できる絶景作品です。再び訪れるかも知れない夢の時を先取りできる１枚。どうぞ、じっくりとお楽しみください。
