DOKKEN in 1983, when the golden four were complete and made their album debut in their home country America. A soundboard album that pours their live performances into the brain that has finally started in earnest is now available.
Engraved on this work is “December 28, 1983 Sacramento Performance”. It is the vintage sound board recording. Speaking of early DOKKEN, the super-super excavation pro shot “COMPLETE BEAT-CLUB 1982” has become a big standard, but Foan Cruche was still playing the bass there. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s look back on the schedule (slightly wider) of the completion of the golden lineup and the full-fledged start.

This is the 1982-1984 DOKKEN. The original board “BREAKIN’ THE CHAINS: ORIGINAL CARRERE DELUXE EDITION (Zodiac 348)”, which is familiar with our press board, was released in 1981, but the English board was released in 1982 and the US board in 1983. Immediately after its debut, Jeff Pilson was welcomed to complete the lineup and start the tour. The Sacramento performance of this work was the 12th performance of the main leg “North America # 3”. Also, from this “North America # 3”, the official edition “FROM CONCEPTION: LIVE 1981” has also been excavated, but it is a different performance from this work (the official work has “1981” in the title, but the content is The correct answer is December 1983. However, the performance date and venue have not been confirmed, and the live content is different from this work).
This work, which records such a show, is a sound board that directly connects to the brain. While it’s not a master sound like the official work “FROM CONCEPTION”, the unprocessed core is also exposed and the raw mix is delicious. Actually, it is the same recording as the 90’s legendary board “SACRAMENTO IS BURNING”, but this work is not a copy or remaster recurrence. It is an upgrade master of another system owned by the legendary recording artist “Crazy S.”. The sound is very clear and stable. Nuke is also remarkably good, and it is the best master of the Sacramento performance.
A show full of extremely rare songs is portrayed with such a sound. Here, let’s organize the set while comparing it with the previous year’s “COMPLETE BEAT-CLUB 1982”.

そんな本作に刻まれているのは「1983年12月28日サクラメント公演」。そのヴィンテージ・サウンドボード録音です。初期DOKKENと言えば、超極上の発掘プロショット『COMPLETE BEAT-CLUB 1982』が大定番となっておりますが、そこではまだフォアン・クルーシェがベースを弾いていました。良い機会でもありますので、黄金ラインナップの完成と本格始動の歩みを（ちょっと広めに）スケジュールで振り返ってみましょう。

これが1982年ー1984年のDOKKEN。当店のプレス盤でもお馴染みなオリジナル盤『BREAKIN’ THE CHAINS: ORIGINAL CARRERE DELUXE EDITION（Zodiac 348）』は1981年でしたが、英盤は1982年、米盤は1983年リリースでした。そのデビュー直後にジェフ・ピルソンを迎えて陣容が完成させ、ツアーを開始。本作のサクラメント公演は、そのメインレッグ「北米#3」の12公演目にあたるコンサートでした。また、この「北米#3」からは公式盤『FROM CONCEPTION: LIVE 1981』も発掘されておりますが、本作とは別公演です（公式作はタイトルに「1981」とありますが、内容的に1983年12月が正解。ただし公演日・会場は確定されておらず、本作とはライヴ内容が異なります）。
そんなショウを記録した本作は、脳みそダイレクトな直結系サウンドボード。公式作『FROM CONCEPTION』のようなマスター・サウンドというわけにはいかない一方、無加工な芯も丸出しな生々しいミックスが美味しい。実は90年代の伝説盤『SACRAMENTO IS BURNING』と同じ録音なのですが、本作はコピーやリマスター再発ではない。伝説的な録音家“Crazy S.”氏が所有していた別系統のアップグレード・マスターなのです。そのサウンドは、グッとクリアで安定感もバツグン。ヌケも格段に良く、サクラメント公演のベスト・マスターなのです。
そんなサウンドで画かれるのは、激レア曲が満載のショウ。ここでは前年『COMPLETE BEAT-CLUB 1982』と比較しながらセットを整理しておきましょう。

The main press CD is a soundboard album that will pour the precious “BREAKING THE CHAINS Tour” into your brain. It is a new masterpiece that permanently preserves the upgrade master. As I mentioned in the commentary, their debut work “BREAKING THE CHAINS” was released in Europe first, and Foan Cruche was still enrolled. そんな本作が収録されたのは「1982年１月14日ブレーメン（以前は“１月４日”とされてきました）」。名物番組“BEAT-CLUB”に出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。本編の解説をご覧の通り、このショウは1982年で唯一知られるライヴでもありました。

この映像は古くから知られる大定番なのですが、本作はその最高峰となる完全版マスター。2018年にBEAT-CLUB公式チャンネルで後悔された放送前の未編集・最長版です。オープニングからしていきなりの未公開シーン。放送のエアチェックだった既発群は「Paris Is Burning」の途中から始まっていましたが、本作はキチンとイントロから収録。それどころか、開演前の会場も４分半にわたって収めています。さらに放送では被せられていた曲名やメンバー・テロップがなく、終演後も２分ほど長く録りっぱなし。まさに未編集の生々しさ全開なのです。
それ以上に凄いのはもちろん演奏シーン。放送ではカットされていたレパートリーも収録され、“BREAKING THE CHAINS Tour”本編であるプレスCD『SACRAMENTO 1983 SOUNDBOARD』とも異なっています。ここで、その内容もチェックしておきましょう。

【BEAT-CLUB公式による完全オフィシャル級クオリティ】
何とも見どころ満載な新発掘ですが、単に長いだけじゃないから凄い。何しろ、BEAT-CLUB自身の新発掘。それだけにダビング痕などあるはずがなく、長年倉庫で眠っていたであろうマスターには再生劣化もまるでない。10年ほど前にエアチェックの高画質版が「オフィシャル級だ！」と話題になりましたが、それさえもまったく問題にならない。現代のデジタル基準に慣れきった眼にも圧倒的な映像美。当時基準ではなく、現代基準の完全オフィシャル級クオリティなのです。
その映像美で描かれる若々しいDOKKENはえらくフレッシュ。暴れまくるフォアンのパフォーマンスも最高ですが、さらにギターを手にして弾きまくるドン・ドッケンも新鮮。しかも音がドンのギターは音もデカく、ジョージ以上のバランスでミックスされている。今の感覚からするとちょっと異様でもあるわけですが、デビュー直後だけに放送局がバンド内の力学など知る由もなく、そもそも当時のドイツ盤『BREAKING THE CHAINS』は「DON DOKKEN」のソロ名義。そのおかげでドンの腕前もオフィシャル級の超極上サウンドボードで楽しめるわけです。そして、そのパフォーマンスも面白い。白と赤のストライプ・シャツはやけに素人臭いですが、ギターを持ちながらのパフォーマンスは手慣れたもの。後年、ジョージの反対でフリーハンドになりましたが、ドンはギターを持っていた方がサマになるかもしれません。
発掘当初から大きな話題を巻き起こし、『BREAKIN’ THE CHAINS: ORIGINAL CARRERE DELUXE EDITION（Zodiac 348）』の一部としてプレス化も実現している超名作プロショットです。すでにご覧になった方もいらっしゃるかも知れませんが、万が一にも見逃されていたらマズイ。そんな次元に立つ初期DOKKENの絶対映像。新名盤と共にお腹いっぱいお楽しみください。
