The coupling tour of the century “The World Tour” is sweeping the HR/HM scene in 2023. A spectacular video that allows you to fully experience the latest version has arrived.
This work includes “August 8, 2023 Columbus Performance”. This is an extremely spectacular audience shot taken at the huge venue “Ohio Stadium”, famous for the legendary performances of THE ROLLING STONES and PINK FLOYD. The pairing of the two men began last year, and they are scheduled to perform in Japan in November of this year. First, let’s take a look at the overview of its activities and tease out the position of this work.

This is the overall picture of the coupling tour that has been announced so far. There are other individual stages as well, but these are the stages where both characters line up. “North America #1” in 2022 was originally titled “The Stadium Tour,” but this year it has been retitled “The World Tour” as a global version that also includes Europe, Japan, and Australia. The Columbus performance of this work was the second concert of “North America #2”, about three months before the upcoming Japan performance.
This work is a vacuum-packed version of such a show, and it is a superb shot that looks like a picture of a “superb view”. It didn’t seem like I was in the front row, but I was in a very front seat (probably 7th row, just to the right of Hanamichi), so close that I couldn’t see the stage completely. You might think it would be a huge commotion being so close, but the vantage point was strangely high and you could see the stage directly over the heads of the audience in front of you, with no obstructions.
Also, the camera work is wonderful. I hardly ever use zoom (or should I say, I don’t need to use it), but it makes for a more realistic experience. Naturally, the human eye does not have a zoom function, and the camera work, which has an anti-shake function, moves smoothly and feels very much like the naked eye.
Furthermore, even the sound is of the highest quality. Because the stadium is wide open to the sky, there are no echoes, and modern PA and recording equipment give you a delicious, direct feeling from close seats. It was a conventional wisdom among the audience that the sound would circulate around the front seats, but this may be a moldy old common sense.
What is depicted in such a super powerful shot of the special agent seat is a full show that foreshadows the upcoming performance in Japan. Let’s organize both male and female sets here.

As the first report of “The World Tour”, our shop gift-released the video work “PRAGUE 2023” from the “European” leg, but this work from the “North America” version has been slightly changed. Although DEF LEPPARD’s set was the same, MOTLEY CRUE’s “Saints Of Los Angeles” was removed and BEASTIE BOYS’ “Fight For Your Right” was incorporated into the cover medley.
Even so, it’s incredibly powerful. This is a video masterpiece that allows you to enjoy the full 3-hour show from special seats, which you cannot experience even if you go to the actual show. A big two-disc set that stirs up anticipation for the upcoming performance in Japan with less than three months left, and leaves your heart scorched with excitement. Please enjoy to your heart’s content!

Spectacular audience shot of “August 8, 2023 Columbus Performance”. I had a direct view of the stage without any obstructions from the very front seats (probably in the 7th row, right next to Hanamichi). Even camera work that hardly uses zoom (there’s no need for it) gives you the feeling of a naked-eye experience. The audio is also the best sound with a direct feeling, and it is a video masterpiece that allows you to fully experience the coupling tour of the century where both heroes stand side by side from the powerful special seats.

2023年のHR/HMシーンを席巻している世紀のカップリング・ツアー“The World Tour”。その最新形をフル体験できる絶景映像が到着です。
そんな本作に収められているのは「2023年８月８日コロンバス公演」。THE ROLLING STONESやPINK FLOYDの伝説公演でも有名な巨大会場“オハイオ・スタジアム”で撮影された超絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。両雄のカップリングは昨年から始まっており、今年11月には日本公演も実現する予定。まずは、その活動概要を俯瞰しつつ、本作のポジションを茶しかめてみましょう。

これが現在までに公表されているカップリング・ツアーの全体像。この他に個々のステージもありますが、両雄並び立つステージは以上です。2022年の「北米#1」は“The Stadium Tour”と題されていましたが、今年は欧州・日本・豪州も交えた世界版として“The World Tour”と改題されました。本作のコロンバス公演は、来る日本公演の約３ヶ月前となる「北米#2」の２公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウを真空パックした本作は、「絶景」を画に描いたような極上ショット。最前列でこそないようですが、かなりの前方席（恐らく７列目くらいで、花道のすぐ右横）でして、あまりの近さにステージが視界に収まりきらない。それほど近いと凄まじい騒ぎかと思いきや、不思議なほど視点が高く前方客の頭上ごしにステージを直視していて遮蔽物もありません。
また、カメラワークも素晴らしい。ズームをほとんど使わない（と言いますか、その必要がない）のですが、これがリアルな体験感になっている。当然事ながら人間の眼にズーム機能などなく、手ブレ防止機能の効いたカメラワークはぬるーっと滑らかに動き、極めて肉眼感覚なのです。
さらに、サウンドまで極上級。天空に大きく開いたオープン・スタジアムのために反響が起こらず、現代のPAや録音機材は間近席のダイレクト感を美味しく味わわせてくれる。前方席は音が回り込んでしまうのがオーディエンスの定説でしたが、それはどうやらカビの生えた過去の常識なのかも知れません。
そんな超ド迫力な特捜席ショットで描かれるのは、来る日本公演を予言するようなフルショウ。ここで両雄のセットをまとめて整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。当店では“The World Tour”の第一報として「欧州」レッグの映像作『PRAGUE 2023』をギフト・リリースしていましたが、「北米」篇の本作は微妙に変更。DEF LEPPARDのセットは同一だったものの、MOTLEY CRUEは「Saints Of Los Angeles」が外れ、カバー・メドレーにBEASTIE BOYSの「Fight For Your Right」が組み込まれました。
それにしても凄いド迫力。実際のショウに足を運んでもそうそう体験できない特等席から約３時間のフルショウを味わえる映像傑作です。残り３ヶ月を切った来日公演への期待を掻き立て、はやる気持ちで胸を黒焦げにしてしまうビッグな２枚組。どうぞ、お腹いっぱいお楽しみください！
