The 1974 California Jam starring Purple has a variety of sources, including official ones. Recently, a complete version of the sound source, which is said to be an FM source with a completely different mix, has been released, but it was shocking that it appeared on the entire surface of Ritchie’s guitar, which had been off until then. パープルが出演した1974年のカリフォルニア・ジャムは、公式を含め様々なソースが存在する。最近になり、ミックスが全く異なるFMソースと言われる完全版音源が出ているが、それまでオフ気味だったリッチーのギター全面に出ているということで衝撃的ではあった。しかし今度は、リッチーのギターが大き過ぎる上に、大観衆の気配が感じられない臨場感が希薄な音で、ステレオではあるものの、ほぼ音が塊となったモノラルに近いものであり、コンサートを楽しむという意味では微妙でもあった。

本作は最新AI技術を導入し、元のソースに記録されていながら埋もれていた音まで全て再現、バランスの取れた、これまでにない音質、音像に仕上がっている。また演奏には関係ない部分だが、初登場部分としてステージに上がる前から収録されており、その意味でも、当日の音を余すところなく収録した既発盤より長尺という点で、音質のみならず内容的にも決定盤といえる。

ボーナストラックとして三日後の4月9日サンディエゴ公演のサウンドボード音源もまた、マルチバンド・リマスターにて収録している。美しいピクチャー・ディスク仕様の永久保存がっちりプレス盤。日本語帯付。
