Cyndi Lauper / Budokan 1986 4th Night / 1CDR / Non Label
Play sample :
Cyndi Lauper’s first Japan tour realized in response to the big hit of “TRUE COLORS”. The prestigious “Kinny” treasure album that vacuum-packed the site will be released as a gift!
It was the performance of “September 13, 1986: Nippon Budokan” that was imbued with this work. It is the excellent audience recording. This visit to Japan is known as a standard TV broadcast professional shot, and last year the shock sound board “JAPAN TOUR 1986 (Zion-195)” was unearthed. In addition, a new masterpiece “BUDOKAN 1986 2ND NIGHT (Zion-213)” will be released this week. All of them were live at Nippon Budokan, but this work is a different concert from any of them. In order to understand the situation in that area, let’s organize the collection according to the schedule of arrival in Japan at that time.
・ September 10: Nippon Budokan ←? JAPAN TOUR 1986?
・ September 11: Nippon Budokan ← * BUDOKAN 1986 4ND NIGHT
・ September 12: Nippon Budokan ←? JAPAN TOUR 1986?
・ September 13: Nippon Budokan ← ★ This work ★
・ September 16: Shizuoka Sangyokan
・ September 17 + 18: Osaka Castle Hall
・ September 19: Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium
・ September 22: Nippon Budokan ← * TV broadcast
As mentioned above, while touring all over Japan with all 9 performances, more than half of them were scheduled to be Nippon Budokan. This work was a concert on the 4th day of such 4 consecutive performances at Nippon Budokan (Although the exact recording date of the sound board board “JAPAN TOUR 1986” is not known, the content is different from this work. is).
It was the prestigious “Kinney” that vacuum-packed such a show. This work is a brand that was directly digitized from the newly excavated original cassette. And the quality is a groaning business that is “as expected”. The most wonderful thing is the thick and on core. Kinney recording is unique in its crystal-clear air and beautiful sound, but this work keeps its beauty and has a direct feeling with no sense of distance. It’s so powerful that the deep bass sounds like it’s on the verge of chattering, but even that plays a role in the density and response of the dense core. Moreover, the guitar, synth, and Cindy’s vocals on the deep bass are extremely vivid. It is a unique recording that the contrast is transformed into dynamism.
The wonderful sound is something that I definitely want to preserve forever, but unfortunately this work had a serious drawback. It is an incomplete recording. No, this is not the Kinney staff failing to record. Instead, some of the master cassettes have not been excavated. Therefore, this work has become a hollow composition of “11 songs from the beginning” + “3 songs of Angkor”. Here, let’s organize the contents even in the songs.
● Songs included in this work
・ True Colors: Change of Heart / Boy Blue / What’s Going On / Iko Iko / Calm Inside the Storm / 911 / One Track Mind / The Faraway Nearby / True Colors
・ N.Y. Dance Terrier: I’ll Kiss You / All Through the Night / Girls Just Want to Have Fun
・ Others: The Goonies’R’Good Enough / Baby Workout (★)
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that cannot be heard on TV broadcast pro shots or the sound board album “JAPAN TOUR 1986”.
● Songs that are believed to have been recorded on the lost tape
・ True Colors: True Colors / Maybe He’ll Know
・ N.Y. Dance Terrier: Yeah Yeah-He’s So Unusual / She Bop / Time After Time / Money Changes Everything
…… And it looks like this. “Baby Workout”, which you can’t hear even in the classic TV broadcast pro shots and “JAPAN TOUR 1986”, is valuable, but it’s hard to say that it’s incomplete (by the way, “I’ll Kiss You” makes the sound turbulent. However, this is not a recording but a trouble with the on-site PA. Rather, the appearance of Cindy who is impatient is the highlight of the hearing).
Although I couldn’t help but feel “regrettable!”, The sound of the prestigious Kinney is still wonderful, and the real thrill of experiencing the precious Cindy’s first Japan tour site is irreplaceable. It’s too wasteful to be buried in the darkness of history. Please take this opportunity to pass on the prestigious designs to future generations in addition to the collection.
★ Original recording that allows you to experience the first Japan tour is a gift release. Although it is incompletely recorded, the sound by the prestigious Kinney is exquisite, and you can enjoy a show different from famous TV images and “JAPAN TOUR 1986” “BUDOKAN 1986 2ND NIGHT”.
