The show drawn with that sound is also wonderful. The show consists of two parts, the first part is a complete performance of “MOONMADNESS”, the second part is the best classics. 大名盤『MOONMADNESS』の完全再現ショウが大いに話題となったCAMEL。その最終日を記録した極上ライヴアルバムが登場です。
今回の来日公演は、本当に素晴らしかった。２年前も感動的ではありましたが、今回は何と言っても『MOONMADNESS』をアルバム通りの曲順でフル演奏。まさに2018年のプログレ来日でも最大の目玉でした。当店では、その模様を極上のライヴアルバム群でレポート。先日の『KAWASAKI 2018 1ST NIGHT（Amity 448）』『KAWASAKI 2018 3RD NIGHT（Amity 451）』に加え、今週は『KAWASAKI 2018 FINAL NIGHT（Amity 453）』も登場します。これらのタイトルは、ショウも素晴らしければサウンドも異常なハイクオリティ。実際に来日公演をご覧になった方の記念としてだけではなく、ぜひとも広くプログレッシヴ・ロックを愛する方に触れていただきたい超傑作ばかりです。
そこで、ご用意したギフト・タイトルが本作。上記の傑作群とはまったく別の録音でありながら、完全に肩を並べるハイパー・サウンドの逸品。気軽に“MOONMADNESS TOUR 2018”の素晴らしさを味わっていただけるライヴアルバムなのです。
そんな本作に収められているのは「2018年５月20日：クラブチッタ川崎」公演。その極上オーディエンス録音です。まずは、今回の来日スケジュールの中でショウのポジションを確認してみましょう。

以上、全４公演。今回の来日公演は、クラブチッタ川崎のみでした。その中で、本作は今週同時リリースのAmity盤『KAWASAKI 2018 FINAL NIGHT』と同じ最終公演のライヴアルバムなのです。
そのサウンドは、目を見張るほどに極上。「ギフトだから大したことないだろう」と思われたのなら、大間違い。録音家本人から譲られたオリジナル・マスターで、２列目から捉えられた超ダイレクトが絶品。Amity盤は「まるでオフィシャル作品」という奇跡レベルのサウンドでしたが、それは本作も同じ。極太の芯、超詳細なディテール、綺麗にセパレートされた分離感……すべてが揃っている。あえてAmity盤との違いを挙げるとすれば、「鳴りの気品」と言ったところでしょうか。何とも抽象的な表現で申し訳ありませんが、言い換えるならAmity盤は「作り込まれたオフィシャル名盤級」であり、本作は「発掘オフィシャル作品級」。別日になりますが、それこそ『1ST NIGHT（Amity 448）』『3RD NIGHT（Amity 451）』にも酷似したサウンドでして、生々しい密着感を愛する方なら、『FINAL NIGHT（Amity 453）』よりも本作の方を愛されるかも知れない……それほどの名録音なのです。
そのサウンドで描かれるショウがまた素晴らしい。ショウは２部構成で、第一部が『MOONMADNESS』の完全演奏、第二部がベスト・クラシックス。何と言っても胸に迫るのは、やはり第一部。大代表作だけに長い歴史で演奏されてきた定番曲ばかりですが、それが一気演奏される素晴らしさは喩えようもない。特にオープニングの「Aristillus」付きが嬉しい。他の曲とは違ってほとんど1976年以来ですし、ここから「Song Within A Song」に移っていくからこそ感慨もひとしおなのです。
代わっての第二部「ベスト・クラシックス」も美味しい。70年代だけでなく80年代や90年代もカバーしたオールタイム・ベストなのですが、特に話題となっているのはまっさらの新曲。第二部のオープニングを務める「Mystic Dream」と、終盤で「コレハ新曲デス」と言って演奏されるのは「Dingley Dell」。「Mystic Dream」はデビュー作の「Mystic Queen」を思い出さずにはいられませんし、「Dingley Dell」も幻想的で美しく、それでいてドラマティックなCAMELらしい名曲。それをオフィシャル級の兆極上サウンドで味わえるのです。

大名盤の完全演奏や素晴らしすぎる２つの新曲。それをオフィシャル級の極上サウンドで味わえる大傑作です。繰り返しになりますが、本作はAmit作品群とはまったくの別録音ではありますが、レベルは完全に匹敵します。「2018年のCAMEL来日は、その録音は、ここまで素晴らしかったのか」……それを知っていただきたいがためのギフト・タイトルです。Amityの３作品を揃えた方のコレクションとしてはもちろん、まだ未体験の方にこそぜひ触れていただきたい。本作を聴けば、きっとAmityの作品群も味わいたくなることでしょう。それほどの美味が詰まった銘品。どうぞ、存分にご賞味ください。
