“BOUNCE JAPAN TOUR 2003” became the largest in their history in Japan. That superb live album is appearing.
The performance in Japan this year was huge anyway. If it is only number, 11 times of “KEEP THE FAITH TOUR” in 1993 has been the most frequented in history, but in 2003 this is a dome tour. From Sapporo to the north, Fukuoka to the south, complete 5 domesome (+1) with eight performances by eight performances. 以上、全８公演。このうち、本作に収められているのは「2003年１月11日：大阪ドーム公演」です。そんな本作は、ドーム公演には似つかわしくない素晴らしいオーディエンス録音。ドームというとボケボケ・ボワボワなイメージが付きものですが、本作にそんな心配は無用！　それどころか、通常のコンサート会場でもそうはない図太い楽音が真っ直ぐに飛び込んでくる強力録音なのです。それもそのはず。本作をモノにしたのは、90年代から2000年代初期の大阪で辣腕を振るった伝説の名録音家。当店では、この名手コレクションを数多くCD化しており、RAINBOWやAC/DC、SYKES、イングヴェイ・マルムスティーン、THE BLACK CROWES等々の大阪の名作・傑作が目白押し。特に、BON JOVIファンの方ならリッチー・サンボラの『UNDISCOVERED SOUL IN OSAKA（Zodiac 199）』。かの名作と同じ録音家の銘品をオリジナルDATから忠実にCD化した１本なのです。
まったくもって“ドーム離れ”した美録音なのですが、本作にはれっきとした“ドームらしさ”も刻まれています。それは、巨大なスペクタクル。間近の客から遠く遠くの観客までの立体感・遠近感が凄まじい。特に、名曲群のサビは圧巻。BON JOVIのコンサートと言えば、会場中を巻き込んでの大合唱がお約束ですが、その歌声の広さがハンパではなく、会場内に時差ができるほど。間近客の唱和がジョン・ボンジョヴィの歌声をコーティングし、遠方客の声は“こだま”のように追いかけてくる。５万人に及ぶ、超巨大コーラス隊のスペクタクルが津波となって押し寄せる「I’ll Be There For You」の“Oh, Oh, Oh♪”の大唱和。そして、それを切り裂くリッチー・サンボラの鋭いギターサウンド……魂が震えるような感動です。それだけの迫力がありながら、ジョンの歌声だけがキリッとして囁き声まで克明。さすが、さすが名手の業物です。
そんなサウンド・クオリティで描かれるのは、目眩く美メロの雨あられ。当時の新作『BOUNCE』からも大量７曲がセット入りしつつ、80年代の大ヒット曲もたっぷり。もちろん、BON JOVIのショウで曲が良いのは当たり前ですが、本作はバンド調子まで素晴らしい。その秘訣はワールドツアーの日程にあります。

これが“BOUNCE WORLD TOUR 2003”の全容。日本公演はツアーの序盤に設定されつつ、キックオフでもない。疲れがないだけでなく、バンドのエンジンが掛かり始め、“いよいよ、世界へ！”の気概に溢れた熱演。この後、横浜アリーナでは大失態となってしまいます（本作付属のボーナス３CDRでお楽しみ頂けます）が、本作では不調の影もない。そこに外タレ史上初となる“５大ドーム制覇”の偉業への気概まで上乗せ。「Wild In The Streets」ではジョンが歌詞をド忘れするハプニングがあったりする（この時の観客のどよめきが凄い）ものの、それさえもありあまった勢いに感じられてしまう。日本語で「スミマセン」と謝るジョンもお茶目で、イケイケムードたっぷりのショウなのです。

あの巨大ツアーから14年。今なお、絶大な人気を誇るBON JOVIではありますが、リッチー・サンボラも去り、その姿は変わってしまった。もう、ここまでのビッグ・ウェーヴはないかも知れません。
