Ritchie Blackmore in 1997 found a safe haven in Renaissance music. Introducing an original recording that allows you to experience the best performance in Japan, which was the first step.
What was imbued with this work was the performance of “November 3, 1997: Aichi Welfare Pension Hall”, which is known for the precious “Smoke On The Water” that also popped out. It is the excellent audience recording. They released their debut work “SHADOW OF THE MOON” in April, and they were planning to start the tour from Europe as it is, but it was postponed due to Ritchie’s illness. Japan is the first appearance of a new project. First, let’s take a look back at the panoramic view of the Japan Tour, which was held ahead of the rest of the world, and confirm the position of the show together with our collection.

Above, all 8 performances. Although the secret gig was held in May 1997, the official premiere was in Japan. The Nagoya performance of this work was the second performance in the early stages.
This work recorded at such an innocent site is just the best. The most wonderful thing is the core that jumps into your ears without a sense of distance. It must be an audience recording that also sucked in the sound of the hall, but the atmosphere is clear and clear, and the core that penetrates the center can be clearly felt. When it comes to MC, there is a sense of distance, but during the performance, the small guitar and the ephemeral singing voice are vivid to the smallest detail. And the faint hall sound gives the core a luster and dynamism. It cannot be powerful in terms of musicality, but it is a “world of beauty that is unique to the audience” that creates an exquisite thickness and a unique feeling of pouring without hiding the details.
The beautiful sound is drawn in 1997 because it was 1997, when I was immersed in the joy of new music and did not hesitate about DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW numbers. … And it looks like this. The debut work “SHADOW OF THE MOON” number is also delicious, but you can also enjoy plenty of HR classics that have been repainted in a new appearance. Of particular note is the last “Smoke On The Water”. It started by taking over the guitar solos from “Man On The Silver Mountain”, but only Nagoya played in Japan. You can enjoy the super precious live performance with a subtle and vivid exquisite sound.
Although not mentioned above, the SE before the performance is also a point. Recording started more than 8 minutes before the first song “Shadow Of The Moon”, and you can enjoy “Susatissimo” by DES GEYERS SCHWARZER HAUFEN played in the hall. This SE is also an important production as part of the show, and it is a live album where you can enjoy the full show in total.
After that, BLACKMORE’S NIGHT will be pursued by Ritchie Blackmore for a quarter of a century. It is a valuable live album where you can enjoy the full show right after its birth with exquisite sound. A night in Nagoya that was exceptional even in the historic performances in Japan. そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは、貴重な「Smoke On The Water」も飛び出したことで知られる「1997年11月３日：愛知厚生年金会館」公演。その絶品オーディエンス録音です。４月にデビュー作『SHADOW OF THE MOON』をリリースした彼らは、そのまま欧州からツアーを開始する予定でしたがリッチーの不調で延期。日本が新プロジェクトの初お目見えとなりました。まずは、全世界に先駆けて行われたジャパン・ツアーの全景を振り返り、当店コレクションと共にショウのポジションを確かめてみましょう。

以上、全８公演。1997年５月にシークレット・ギグを行っていたとは言え、正式な初演は日本。本作の名古屋公演は、その中でも序盤となる２公演目でした。
そんな初々しさ溢れる現場で記録された本作は、まさに極上。何よりも素晴らしいのは距離感もなく耳に飛び込んでくる芯。ホール鳴りも吸い込んだオーディエンス録音には違いないものの、その空気感もクリスタル・クリアに透き通り、ド真ん中を貫く芯が克明に感じ取れる。MCになると距離感も出てくるのですが、演奏中はささやかなギターも儚げな歌声も微細部まで鮮やかなのです。そして、その仄かなホール鳴りが芯に艶やダイナミズムも与えている。音楽性から言ってパワフルにはなりようがないわけですが、ディテールを隠さず、絶妙な厚みと独特な降り注ぎ感を演出する「オーディエンスだからこその美の世界」なのです。
その美音で描かれるのは、新たな音楽の歓喜に浸りつつ、まだDEEP PURPLEやRAINBOWナンバーも躊躇しなかった1997年だからこそのフルショウ。現在ではBLACKMORE’S NIGHTの公式ライヴ作も多くなりましたので、それらでは聴けない曲をフィーチュアしながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。デビュー作『SHADOW OF THE MOON』ナンバーも美味しいわけですが、新しい姿に塗り替えられたHRクラシックスもたっぷりと楽しめる。特に注目なのがラストの「Smoke On The Water」でしょう。「Man On The Silver Mountain」から連なるギターソロを引き継いで始まるわけですが、日本で演奏したのは名古屋だけ。その超貴重な生演奏を機微まで鮮やかな絶品サウンドで楽しめるのです。
また、上記にはありませんが開演前のSEもポイント。１曲目「Shadow Of The Moon」の８分以上前から録音が始まっており、場内に流されたDES GEYERS SCHWARZER HAUFENの「Susatissimo」もしっかりと楽しめる。このSEもショウの一部として重要な演出であり、フルショウをトータルで味わえるライヴアルバムなのです。
その後、四半世紀にわたってリッチー・ブラックモアが追究していくことになるBLACKMORE’S NIGHT。その誕生直後のフルショウを絶品サウンドで味わえる貴重なライヴアルバムです。歴史的な日本公演でも格別だった名古屋の夜。どうぞ、大元DATだからこその瑞々しいサウンドで胸いっぱいに吸い込んでください。
