The legendary vintage recording of the early Sabas is an upgraded reprint! A press CD that permanently preserves the original reel sound refined by detailed mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” will be released.
It was “April 18, 1971 Copenhagen performance” that was imbued with such a legendary recording. It is the best audience recording. Speaking of 1971, it is also the time when the “PARANOID Tour” and the “MASTER OF REALITY Tour” intersect. First, let’s look back on the schedule at that time and confirm the position of the show.

This is a panoramic view of the two tours “PARANOID Tour” / “MASTER OF REALITY Tour”. The Copenhagen performance of this work was the 5th performance of “Europe # 4” which was still the last minute “PARANOID Tour” while completing “MASTER OF REALITY”. Speaking of “PARANOID Tour Copenhagen”, “COPENHAGEN 1970 (Zodiac 407)” is also new to my memory, but this work is another performance four months later.
Such a show is also known for its beautiful and superb recordings, and has been loved as “ETERNAL VOID OF DOOM”. This work is the highest peak ever, which is a detailed reproduction of the original reel master. The previous work “ETERNAL VOID OF DOOM” was also created from the reel master, but it was digitized and then pseudo-stereo. It was processed and released (there are now some sound sources that are supposed to be LP-generated, but they are also pseudo-stereo). This work is a master before such processing. It’s a truly natural monaural transfer board.
Of course, it’s not just monaural. Fine mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” makes the best use of the taste of such Omoto master. “GRAF ZEPPELIN” deals with various sound sources, but its main purpose is audience recording. It’s also a 70’s vintage recording. Recently, paranoid mastering accuracy has become widespread, but the true value lies in vintage-related recording knowledge. What kind of sound does an amplifier in the 70’s spit out, how does a microphone at that time pick it up, and how does analog tape deteriorate? Because you are familiar with them, you can see the “sound of the field” on the other side of the sound you hear. Rather than simply earning sound pressure and finishing it flashy, we aim for “sound in the field”, so we can achieve realistic sound.
And, the skill of this work is fully demonstrated. The pitch shift, the type of noise, and the characteristics of the sound are slightly different between LP and transcription, but they are completely repaired. It’s a haze that isn’t flashy because it’s an original monaural sound that doesn’t have a pseudo-stereo feel, but it doesn’t sound sober because of the goodness of each note.
The sound is drawn in a show where the timing of “immediately after the completion of the 3rd” appears brilliantly. Let’s check the set here as well.

…… And it looks like this. At first glance, it may seem like a super royal road with no rare songs, but it’s a modern feeling. As a matter of fact, “Into The Void” became a standard after the reunion, and in the 70’s it was an extremely rare song that was played only a few times by Hong. Of course, the highest peak sound version is this work.
Furthermore, this concentration itself is extremely rare. After the reunion, the “essential songs for the original Sabas” were re-verified by the people themselves, but the conclusion was 8 songs of “the above 7 songs + Children Of The Grave”. The oldest record of “Children Of The Grave” is “BEGGARS’BANQUET DANCE (Zodiac 316)”, so it has not been played yet at the time of this work, but the other 7 songs are covered. There are only two shows that have been prepared so far, “BEGGARS’BANQUET DANCE” and this work, even in the many 70’s recordings.
The devil’s famous recording “ETERNAL VOID OF DOOM” that taught many Sabas fans the “taste of vintage recording” and pushed it into collector’s hell. It is the highest peak update board that precisely reproduced the original reel sound. This is the early Sabas. This is the 70’s. This is a vintage sound. Experience it with its rich brilliance and a press CD that will never be lost.

そんな伝説録音が吹き込まれたのは「1971年４月18日コペンハーゲン公演」。その極上オーディエンス録音です。1971年と言えば、“PARANOID Tour”と“MASTER OF REALITY Tour”が交錯する時期でもある。まずは、当時のスケジュールを振り返ってショウのポジションを確かめておきましょう。

これが２つのツアー“PARANOID Tour”／“MASTER OF REALITY Tour”の全景。本作のコペンハーゲン公演は『MASTER OF REALITY』を完成させつつ、まだギリギリ“PARANOID Tour”だった「欧州#4」の５公演目にあたるコンサートでした。「PARANOID Tourのコペンハーゲン」と言うと『COPENHAGEN 1970（Zodiac 407）』も記憶に新しいところですが、本作は４ヶ月後の別公演です。
そんなショウは見目麗しい極上録音が残された事でも知られ、『ETERNAL VOID OF DOOM』として愛されてきました。本作は、その大元リール・マスターを緻密夫復刻した過去最高峰盤なのです。従来作『ETERNAL VOID OF DOOM』もリール・マスターから起こされましたが、デジタル化した後に疑似ステレオ化。加工されて公開されたものでした（現在ではLP起こしとされる音源も出回っていますが、それも疑似ステレオです）。本作は、そんな加工前のマスター。真にナチュラルなモノラル・トランスファー盤なのです。
もちろん、単にモノラルなだけではありません。そんな大元マスターの旨みを最大限に活かしたのが「GRAF ZEPPELIN」による細密マスタリング。さまざまな音源を扱っている「GRAF ZEPPELIN」ですが、その本領はオーディエンス録音。それも70年代ヴィンテージ録音なのです。最近では偏執的なマスタリング精度も浸透してきましたが、その真骨頂はヴィンテージ関係の録音知識にある。70年代のアンプがどんな音を吐き出し、当時のマイクがどう拾い、アナログ・テープがどのように劣化していくのか。それらを熟知しているからこそ、聞こえている音の向こう側に「現場の音」が見えてくる。単に音圧稼ぎをして派手に仕上げるのではなく、「現場の音」を目指すからリアルなサウンドを実現できるのです。
そして、本作もその技量が遺憾なく発揮されている。LP起こしとテープ起こしではピッチのズレ方も、ノイスの種類も、鳴りの特性も微妙に異なるわけですが、それらを完全修復。疑似ステレオ感のない大元モノラル・サウンドゆえに派手さはなくなっているハズなのですが、１音１音のヌケ良さで地味に聞こえないのです。
そのサウンドで描かれるのは、「3rd完成直後」というタイミングがものの見事に現れたショウ。ここでセットもチェックしておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。一見すると珍しい曲が１つもない超王道のようにも思えますが、それは現代感覚だから。実のところ「Into The Void」が定番化したのは再結成以降であり、70年代はホンの数回しか演奏していない激レア曲でした。もちろん、その最高峰サウンド版こそが本作なのです。
さらに言えば、この濃度自体が激レア。リユニオン以降、本人達によって「オリジナル・サバスに必須な曲」が再検証されたわけですが、その結論が「上記７曲＋Children Of The Grave」の８曲でした。「Children Of The Grave」の最古記録は『BEGGARS’ BANQUET DANCE（Zodiac 316）』なので本作当時にはまだ演奏されていませんが、それ以外の７曲が網羅されている。ここまで揃ったショウは、数ある70年代録音でも『BEGGARS’ BANQUET DANCE』と本作の２本しか存在しないのです。
