Last week, an unreleased video of The Band’s “THE LAST WALTZ” appeared on YouTube and became a hot topic. This is an 8mm audience shot taken from the balcony of Winterland when a maniac participated in the event on the day. That’s how it was.
Most of the things that have been circulating in the past were copies of Van Morrison’s “Tura Lura Lura” performance scene and Dylan’s part, and the recording time was far from the whole picture revealed in this upload.
More than that, the feeling of being lost in VHS dubbing was terrifying, and that was the kind of personnel that only appeared among core traders. Still, there was a track record of being released on Dylan’s video compilation DVD-R more than 10 years ago.

According to the photographer of this version, “the image and sound quality have deteriorated over time”, but it is true that the uneven pitch of the audio that has deteriorated everywhere is a flaw. However, the image quality is much clearer than the VHS era version, and if you are a maniac who remembers the conventional version, you will be surprised.
The photographer prepared 32 8mm reels for this long event, but unfortunately the 8mm was too short to capture everything. Still, it is still a valuable video with a lot of highlights.
This is because the video footage recorded by Winterland’s on-site camera, which is another valuable footage produced from this event, was in black and white, so this has the great advantage of being in color.
In addition, the scenes from the first half of the event, which can be seen for the first time in this public release, are fresh because they are shot from a completely different angle than the movie.
It’s also fresh to see from another angle the moment when Bob Dylan was singing “Forever Young”, a famous scene in the movie, and he spoke to the audience.
Even more fragmented, it is extremely valuable to see the performance scenes of songs such as Clapton’s “All Our Past Times” and “Tura Lura Lura” that were not used in the movie in color.

At the same time, the black-and-white video version that surprised maniacs around the world by recording many scenes and songs that could not be conveyed or captured in the movie is also included.
Even so, the phantom “The Last Waltz” suite live version that did not come true because it was made for this event but became a rough show (it was not included in the 40th anniversary edition) It is attractive that you can see the performance scene in both black and white and color.
In addition, it is also valuable to be able to watch “Jam II”, which has become familiar with the bonus footage of the movie, until the end in the video footage, and its value has not faded.
In the first place, “THE LAST WALTZ: COMPLETE VIDEO MONITOR EDITION”, which recorded the black-and-white video that was released on the “CONCERT VAULT” site 10 years ago and became a hot topic, has been difficult to obtain for a long time. The version that is released is a long time, and it is extremely compressed, and the image quality is dropped, or it is finely divided up.
The release of the strongest version that combines these two types of precious footage will be realized. This is the ultimate another side of “THE LAST WALTZ”!
