The original FACES super-superior sound board from Ronnie Lane’s departure is reproduced. It is appearance in permanent preservation press 2CD.
The treasure is the soundboard recording left by Kano’s prestigious BBC. It is a decision board which arranged the Paris Theater 2 performances of “February 8, 1973” and “April 1 year” on one disc. This 2 performance sound board is just decisive. The first appearance is over 15 years ago, but both are not Air Check, but digitized from the BBC’s main origin. What’s more, after that, they were refined by careful mastering and evolved into the ultimate sound. Along with Ronnie Lane’s participation, it is a supreme live album that surpasses even the traditional album “COAST TO COAST: OVERTURE AND BEGINNERS”. Let’s introduce each disc individually.
And the quality is perfect. It’s a monaural recording (so you put it in store?) But the sound itself is perfect. There is no air check, and there is no cutting on the master. The reality is that the rod sings right there and Ronnie’s guitar sounds in the brain. It is a super high quality sound board to be released rather than saying that it can be officially released.
The show drawn by the sound is a collection of works until 1973. As well as being uniformly selected from “FIRST STEP” to the latest work “OOH LA LA”, as well as the solo track of the rod played a lot with the traditional record “COAST TO COAST” as well. Indeed, “AN OLD RAINCOAT WON’T EVER LET YOU DOWN” is showing off from all the works other than. Moreover, the cover with “COAST TO COAST” is only three out of 12 songs “Angel”, “I’d Rather Go Go” and “It’s All Over Now”. Selection, organization, performance, sound … one of the most important in one sense. [Disc 2: Sound board of broadcast original recording April 1973 sound board] It is the same “Paris Theater” that will appear subsequently, but the sound board of “April 1” which will be about two months later. This is a sound source that was actually broadcasted, but it’s not from air check but from the super rare BBC’s transcription disc.
And here is the best. A large number of already-deformed groups have colored the history only for famous broadcasts, but this work is the highest peak. The freshness of the original recording is overwhelming, and this is a stereo sound board. Furthermore, the scratch noise left slightly by meticulous mastering is also removed as much as possible, and it is finished to sharp sound. Especially, the bass line of Ronnie Lane, which comes to mind with stereo feeling and remastering, is the best. Of course, I could hear clearly with the disc 1, but this is a mix where the BBC emphasizes the bass, and the presence is greater. Given the importance of the original FACES, this disc is also the most important soundboard.
The show drawn by the sound changes like only two months. This disc is narrowly narrowed down to disc 1 which was culmination, and the original is limited to 3 pieces of “Nembutsu to the ear of a horse”, “OOH LA LA” and “NEVER A DULL MOMENT”. At the time, it was a show that featured the latest 3 cards. And another feature covers. In addition to John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy”, he also plays “The Stealer” for FREE. その秘宝とは、かの名門BBCが残したサウンドボード録音。「1973年２月８日」と「同年４月１日」のパリス・シアター２公演をディスク１枚ずつに配した決定盤です。この２公演サウンドボードは、まさに決定的。初登場したのは15年以上前ですが、どちらもエアチェックではなく、BBCの大元からデジタル化。しかも、その後になって細心マスタリングで磨き上げられ、究極サウンドに進化したもの。ロニー・レーンが参加していることも併せ、もはや伝統盤『COAST TO COAST: OVERTURE AND BEGINNERS』さえも凌駕する至高のライヴアルバムなのです。それでは、各ディスクを個別にご紹介していきましょう。
【ディスク１：未放送の1973年２月８日サウンドボード】
まず登場するのは『OOH LA LA』完成直後、発売直前だった「２月８日」収録のサウンドボード。“パリス・シアター”で録音されたのですが、どういうわけか放送されず、お蔵入りとなっていたサウンドボードです。このディスクは、そんな秘宝サウンドボードをBBCのマスター・テープから直接デジタル化したもの。初登場時には「Memphis, Tennessee」「Miss Judy’s Farm」に欠けもあったのですが、本作では完璧にシームレスな最高峰マスターを使用しています。
そして、クオリティも完璧。モノラル録音ではある（そのせいでお蔵入り？）のですが、サウンド自体はパーフェクト。エアチェックでもなければ、原盤へのカッティングもない大元マスターならではのサウンドは異様。まさにロッドがすぐそこで歌い、ロニーのギターが脳内で鳴るリアリティ。このまま公式リリース可能……と言うより、リリースすべき超ハイクオリティ・サウンドボードです。
そのサウンドで描かれるショウは、1973年までの集大成。『FIRST STEP』から最新作『OOH LA LA』まで満遍なくセレクトされているだけでなく、伝統盤『COAST TO COAST』と同じくロッドのソロ曲もたっぷりと演奏。実に『AN OLD RAINCOAT WON’T EVER LET YOU DOWN』以外の全作から披露しているのです。しかも、『COAST TO COAST』との被りは全12曲中３曲「Angel」「I’d Rather Go Blind」「It’s All Over Now」のみ。選曲、編成、パフォーマンス、サウンド……あらゆる意味で最重要となる１枚です。
【ディスク２：放送原盤起こしの1973年４月１日サウンドボード】
続いて登場するのも同じ“パリス・シアター”ではありますが、約２ヶ月後となる「４月１日」のサウンドボード。こちらは実際に放送された音源ですが、エアチェックではなく激レアなBBCのトラスクリプション・ディスクから起こされています。
そして、こちらも極上。有名放送だけに数々の既発群が歴史を彩ってきましたが、本作こそが最高峰。原盤起こしの鮮度は圧倒的ですし、何しろこちらはステレオ・サウンドボード。さらに細心マスタリングでわずかに残されたスクラッチ・ノイズも可能な限り除去され、メリハリの訊いたサウンドに仕上げられている。特にステレオ感とリマスターで浮かび上がるロニー・レーンのベースラインが最高。もちろん、ディスク１でもクッキリと聴けましたが、こちらはBBCがベースを強調したミックスを行っており、より存在感が大きい。オリジナルFACESの重要性を考えると、このディスクもまた最重要サウンドボードなのです。
そのサウンドで描かれるショウは、わずか２ヶ月様変わり。集大成だったディスク１に対し、本作はグッと絞り込まれており、オリジナルは『馬の耳に念仏』『OOH LA LA』『NEVER A DULL MOMENT』の３枚限定。当時、最新３枚をフィーチュアしたショウなのです。そして、もう１つの特徴がカバー。こちらにはジョン・レノンの「Jealous Guy」に加え、FREEの「The Stealer」も演奏しているのです。ポール・ロジャースはロッドに憧れていたわけですが、そのFREEの名曲を歌うロッド……。その貴重にして最高の歌声を極上ステレオ・サウンドボードで楽しめるのです。
この後、彼らは北米をツアーするわけですが、６月の凱旋母国ツアー中にロニー・レーンが脱退。山内テツを迎えるも、解散への歩みは止められませんでした。本作は、そんなオリジナルFACESの円熟期を極上サウンドボードで２公演楽しめる決定盤。まさに英国ロックの至宝たるライヴアルバムです。ぜひ、永久保存プレス２CDでいつでも、いつまでもご堪能ください。

Main part press 2CD is a cultural heritage grade sound board album of original FACES. Of course, it is an unnecessary super masterpiece such as a bonus if it was originally, but there are actually professional shots that are just as super fine as the video. Therefore, it will be attached specially so that you can collect the top record at once.
What is included in such a book is five television program pro shots. It is only a classic one from old times, but this work is the highest peak. Most are super beautiful versions rebroadcasting from the digital age of the 21st century, and several exceptional songs have been compiled with only the highest master ever recorded. Let’s introduce five programs individually.
The contents drawn by the beauty of the picture are amazing again. “Devotion” “Flying” “Too Much Woman” “Gasoline Alley” “Around The Plynth” which can not be heard in the main part press 2CD is delicious, but more than that is the picture itself. I understand that it is a narrow club, but more than that, it is a series of face ups. The performance of the hand of the guitar and the whole body is also on its own, taking as big a face as possible. The youthful expression, bold camera work, and the time-honored telop font are also full of mood. It is a great masterpiece video that can be felt about 28 minutes in the beginning of rock video that can not be considered in modern times.
【April 15, 1971 Hamburg performance (1 song + α)】
It will be followed by a pro shot with a timing of just before the release of “LONG PLAYER” and just before the release of “EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY”. It is a German documentary film “Sympathy For The Devil” Superstars “” with a theme of Hamburg performances. It was broadcast on the German television station “NDR” in 2005.
The German commentary will be covered in the scenery of the rod and backstage that arrived at the airport, but in the second half the rod sings “Gasoline Alley” with a cappella. The microphone of the camera picks up the singing voice, and the voices of children who are playing around are slightly inhaled. At the end you can hear the singing voice of the rod with a little voice, and the rod laughs and returns the voice back. That’s a very lively, full-blown video of singing in the city.
【12 February 1972 Rainbow performance (1 song)】
The third is a pro shot live with a timing just before the production of “NEVER A DULL MOMENT”. It is “Stay With Me” played on “THE RAINBOW” in London. The original was broadcast in Sweden in March 1972, but it is unclear whether this is an original or a rebroadcast. However, the quality is great again, and it would be amazing if it was a 70’s original broadcast. No noise and no master deterioration is seen, and it is a master of the highest peak not overlooked even if it is mixed in 21st century broadcasting.
In addition to the master of the prestigious BBC, ultra-high-quality images that have fallen through even in this work just for digital rebroadcasting in 2008/2009. That’s exactly what makes it beautiful to compare to the images recorded yesterday yesterday. In addition to the beauty of the image, the content is also great. 本編プレス２CDはオリジナルFACESの文化遺産級サウンドボード・アルバムです。もちろん、本来であればボーナスなど不要の超傑作ですが、実は映像でも同じくらい超絶なプロショットが存在する。そこで、頂上記録を一気にコレクトしていただけるよう、特別に付属致します。
そんな本作に収められているのは、５つのテレビ番組プロショット。古くから定番のものばかりですが、本作はその最高峰となるもの。ほとんどが21世紀のデジタル時代になってから再放送された超美麗バージョンであり、例外的な数曲も過去最高峰マスターばかりで集成されている。それでは、５つの番組を個別にご紹介していきましょう。
【1970年12月７日：マーキー・クラブ公演（７曲）】
まず登場するのは、初期FACESを代表する有名映像。『LONG PLAYER』や『EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY』の制作中に出演したマーキー・クラブ公演のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。本作は超極上クオリティばかりですが、この映像は特に新しく、ドイツの放送局“WDR”で2013年に再放送されたもの。時代柄ヴィンテージ感覚の風合いのフィルム映像ではあるものの、ノイズやマスター劣化はほとんど見当たらず、フィルムの粒子感までもが鮮明な超高画質でド定番プロショットが甦っているのです。
その映像美で描かれる中身がまた凄い。本編プレス２CDでは聴けない「Devotion」「Flying」「Too Much Woman」「Gasoline Alley」「Around The Plynth」も美味しいですが、それ以上なのが映像そのもの。狭いクラブなのは分かりますが、それ以上に表情ドアップの連発。ギターの手元や全身のパフォーマンスもそっちのけで、可能な限りデカい顔を撮りまくっている。その若々しい表情も大胆なカメラワークも時代がかったテロップのフォントもムード満点。現代では考えられないロック映像の黎明期を約28分に渡って感じられる大傑作映像です。
【1971年４月15日ハンブルグ公演（１曲+α）】
続いて登場するのは『LONG PLAYER』発売後、『EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY』発売直前というタイミングのプロショット。ハンブルグ公演をテーマにしたドイツのドキュメンタリー映像「Sympathy For The Devil “Superstars”」です。2005年にドイツのテレビ局“NDR”で放送されたものです。
空港に到着したロッドやバックステージの風景にドイツ語解説が被るのですが、後半にはロッドがアカペラで「Gasoline Alley」を歌う。カメラのマイクで歌声を拾っており、周囲で遊んでいるらしき子供たちの声もうっすら吸い込んでいる。最後には幼い声でロッドの歌マネをする声が聞こえ、ロッドも笑いながらマネし返す。それが非常に生々しく、街中で歌うムード満点の映像です。
【1972年２月12日レインボー公演（１曲）】
３つめは『NEVER A DULL MOMENT』製作直前というタイミングのプロショット・ライヴ。ロンドンの“THE RAINBOW”で演奏される「Stay With Me」です。オリジナルは1972年３月にスウェーデンで放送されましたが、これはオリジナルなのか再放送なのか不明。ただし、クオリティはこれまた素晴らしく、70年代のオリジナル放送だとしたら驚異的。ノイズもマスター劣化も見られず、21世紀放送の中に紛れても見劣りしない最高峰のマスターです。
【TOP OF THE POPS（1971／1972年：４曲）】
再び21世紀のデジタル再放送映像。こちらはBBCの名物番組“TOP OF THE POPS”に出演したもの。1971年と1972年の４曲「Richmond」「Bad ‘n’ Ruin」「Maggie May」「Angel」をまとめて収録しています。
名門BBCのマスターに加え、2008年／2009年のデジタル再放送だけに本作でもズバ抜けた超・高画質。それこそ昨日今日収録された映像と大差ない美麗ぶりが目に染みます。その映像美に加え、中身も最高。番組の特性上ステージ・ライヴとはムードが違うわけですが、サクラの観客は服装も動きも時代感が凄い。また、演奏される４曲のうち、「Angel」以外の３曲は本編プレス２CDでも聴けないというのもポイントです。
【1973年３月10日フォールブルフ公演（３曲+α）】
最後は、本編プレス２CDのディスク１とディスク２の間に行われたオランダのフェス“POP GALA ’73”に出演した際のプロショット。現地の公共放送協会“VARA”のテレビ番組“CULTURA 24”で放送されたものです。これまたオリジナル放送なのか、再放送なのか伝わっていませんが、クオリティ自体が「デジタル再放送だ」と言い張ってくるような映像美。そのクオリティで３曲「Memphis, Tennessee」「True Blue」「Cindy Incidentally」のステージ・ライヴが見られるだけでも最高ですが、さらに最後も見どころ。５人が揃ったバックステージ（シャワールーム？）で、マルクス兄弟の「One Last Sweet Cheerio」を合唱してふざけている。先述のように、この３ヶ月後にはオリジナル編成が崩壊してしまうわけですが、その予兆も感じさせないバンド然とした姿が楽しいシーンです。
オリジナルFACESの超極上プロショットを１時間10分に渡って集成した決定的な映像作品です。BBCの極上サウンドボードである本編プレス２CDのオマケと言うよりは、２大至宝となる映像編。どうぞ、併せてたっぷりとお楽しみください。
