With the release of “ATTACK !!” by Yngwie Malmsteen, the 2002 Japan Tour started with the Kawasaki performance on December 3rd, and a total of 9 performances were held. Although the size of the venue was rather small, centered on the club, the schedule included not only large cities such as Tokyo and Osaka, but also local cities such as Iwate, Niigata, and Hiroshima, which pleased fans all over the country. The first day of the performance in Kawasaki on December 3rd is “RISE & ATTACK” (Shades 558) using the original DAT master, and you can enjoy the ideal audience sound.
However, for this Kawasaki performance, “FIRST ATTACK !!”, which appeared on the Langley label at the end of 2002, just after the end of the tour, has long been known as a standard sound source on the same day. As mentioned above, “RISE & ATTACK” is a very good recording, but this “FIRST ATTACK !!” is no less wonderful. Therefore, this time, in commemoration of the recurrence of the definitive edition “OSAKA 2002” and “RISE & ATTACK” of the Osaka performance, we have decided to release a special gift of this “FIRST ATTACK !!” remastered version!
This “FIRST ATTACK !!” was a recording that was highly evaluated by fans and specialized magazines from the beginning of its release. However, since it is an item 10 years ago, when I listen to it with the current feeling, I feel that the mastering is a little unsatisfactory. This time, I used the original master again to alleviate the excessive bass. The overall sound has been adjusted to create a clearer and more sophisticated sound.
The direct feeling and spacious sound image that contained the power of the performance as it was is comparable to “RISE & ATTACK”. With plenty of response from the opening “Rise Up” and “Ship Of Fools”, you will be immediately drawn to the listener. The well-proportioned band sound even gives the impression of a line sound source in some situations.
Except for the minimum necessary cheers, it can be said that the feature of this recording is that the audience’s voices and screams are hardly noticeable. “Icarus Dream Suite Op.4” and “Far Beyond The Sun”, which you want to listen to the band’s performance, and “Dreaming”, which is an acoustic arrangement, will give you a taste of the goodness of this recording.
Yngwie, Doggy, and the members were all enthusiastic about the first day. Yngwie’s play is all about listening to the new song “Razor Eater”, the guitar in the promised “Trilogy Suite Op.5”, and the vocals in “Red House”! At the live climax “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” and the “Black Star” and “Rising Force” featured in the encore, this is Yngwie! You will be able to enjoy the musical sounds and play.
Twice
In this Kawasaki performance, there was no DEEP PURPLE number that I could hear on other days (maybe because it was a wait-and-see on the first day of the tour). However, the set list is focused on the old and new Yngwie numbers. The seven songs selected from “ATTACK !!” will also fascinate listeners with the same presence and play as Yngwie’s classic songs.
This work will be listened to by Yngwie’s 2002 Kawasaki performance. Fans, enjoy your special first day of the tour to your heart’s content with this excellent audience source!
