WHITE LION in the heyday, which was a momentary yet intense shine. Introducing the superb sound board album that can be said to be the live version of the masterpiece “PRIDE”.
“February 11, 1988 New York performance” is included in this work. This is a stereo soundboard recording recorded by the legendary club “RITZ”. They made their debut in 1985, but there are countless live shows at that time. It wasn’t until the “PRIDE” era that the “tour” of the stage was realized every day. We have introduced masterpieces such as “MARQUEE 1988” and “TOKYO 1988”, so let’s organize the collection according to the schedule at that time.

This is 1987/1988 WHITE LION. It is said that they had performed about 350 live performances by the time they disbanded in 1991, but 60% of them were concentrated on the “PRIDE Tour”. It was exactly the heyday of the Issei tour. The Ritz performance of this work was a concert on the first day of “North America # 3”, which was the biggest leg among them.
I think some of you may remember GUNS N’ROSES and GREAT WHITE from the title “RITZ 1988”, but in fact, WHITE LION is also recorded professionally. TV broadcast pro shots and FM sound boards have become standard. This work is the highest peak of the FM sound board. Moreover, this master is not available on the internet or elsewhere. It was not the original “Westwood One”, but a Japanese broadcast version by a certain broadcasting association, which was recorded and saved by a core recording enthusiast. In our shop, we have introduced many video works with this enthusiast’s finest master, but this work is also the FM version.
Actually, the quality is “completely official grade”. Not only is it using high-end equipment (at that time), but the recording that pays attention to the reception status and wiring is perfect without stagnation. Since it is an Omoto air check, there are no dubbing marks, and there is no deterioration over time due to perfect storage conditions. TV broadcasting was sometimes monaural, but this FM broadcast is stereo. Would you like to release this Manma officially? It’s a wonderful soundboard album that makes me want to make a suggestion.
The show that will be the “live performance version PRIDE” is drawn with such perfect and perfect quality. Let’s organize the contents here.

…… And it looks like this. All songs from the masterpiece “PRIDE” except “All Join Our Hands” are performed on a large scale. It’s not a full-scale show in the first place because it’s a stage that is premised on broadcasting, but it’s a wonderfully “live performance version of PRIDE”. By the way, “Kid Of A Thousand Faces” and “Road To Valhalla” are added here on the normal stage at that time, but both were the previous work “FIGHT TO SURVIVE” numbers (the pattern of the full scale show is a legendary master). You can enjoy it in “MARQUEE 1988 (Shades 906)”, a masterpiece by “Crazy S.”).
Moreover, the performance of spelling such a set is also decisive. The members are “the four people” who created “PRIDE”, and as mentioned above, the fresh passion that has just started live activities is amazing. On the other hand, since he performed more than 60 performances during the previous year, he didn’t have an amateurish odor, and the enthusiasm for going to the biggest US tour “North America # 3” in his life is just burning up. It is a masterpiece of the dimension of “Is it once in a lifetime?”
For both Mike Trump and Vito Bratta, “PRIDE” will probably be the only symbolic work in his life. This work is the live version. It does not mean that he is playing a lot of songs recorded in his masterpiece, but it is packed with “live performances only for that era” where the band potential that created the masterpiece was upgraded with stage tension. そんな本作に収められているのは「1988年２月11日ニューヨーク公演」。伝説クラブ“RITZ”で記録されたステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。彼らがデビューしたのは1985年でしたが、その際のライヴは数えるほど。連日ステージ三昧の「ツアー」が実現したのは『PRIDE』時代になってからでした。当店では『MARQUEE 1988』『TOKYO 1988』等の名作をご紹介したこともありますので、まずは当時のスケジュールでコレクションを整理してみましょう。

「RITZ 1988」というタイトルからGUNS N’ ROSESやGREAT WHITEを思い出す方もいらっしゃると思いますが、実はWHITE LIONも同じようにプロ収録。TV放送プロショットやFMサウンドボードが定番となってきました。本作は、そのFMサウンドボードの最高峰盤です。しかも、このマスターはネット他でも出回っていない。オリジナルの“Westwood One”ではなく、某放送協会による日本放送版でして、それをコアな記録マニアが録音・保存していたものなのです。当店ではこのマニアの極上マスターで数々の映像作をご紹介してきましたが、本作はそのFM版でもあるわけです。
実際、そのクオリティは「完全オフィシャル級」。（当時の）ハイエンド機材を使っているだけでなく、受信状況や配線まで気を配った録音は淀みなく完璧。大元エアチェックですからダビング痕は一切なく、完璧な保存状態によって経年劣化もない。TV放送はモノラルな事もありましたが、FM放送の本作はステレオ。もう、このまんま公式リリースしませんか？と筋違いにも提案したくなるほど見事なサウンドボード・アルバムなのです。
そんな完全・完璧クオリティで描かれるのは、「生演奏版PRIDE」となるショウ。ここでその内容も整理しておきましょう。
