W.A.S.P. embarked on their 40th anniversary tour “40 Years World Tour,” which had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A superb set that allows you to experience the latest stage is now available.
This work contains two superb audience records of one show. This is a 3-disc set with the full live album of “Jim Thorpe Performance on November 19, 2022” on DISC 1-2 and multi-camera video on DISC 3. Their 40th anniversary tour will begin in 2022 and is still ongoing. In order to know the latest situation, let’s review the current schedule first.

This is the schedule for 2022/2023 that has been announced so far. It seems that they are also working on an original new work following “GOLGOTHA”, but they put it on the shelf and started the tour. The Jim Thorpe performance of this work was the 19th performance of “North America # 1”, which is the beginning of it.
This work, which is a vacuum-packed version of such a show, is a superb collection of live albums and videos. First of all, it is a full live album (DISC 1-2), but this is already a frightening “just like a sound board”. After all, it is the latest collection of Mr. “bcironmaiden” who is famous as a modern master. Known as the master of the famous machine “Schoeps MK4”, general masterpieces such as Paul McCartney and Billy Joel are very popular at our store. However, it is (as the name suggests) HR/HM that the person himself loves and does not stop. It has a very thick core with no sense of distance, a vivid separate feeling, a glossy and beautiful ringing, all sound board class … No, it is an official work class.
If the live albums (DISC 1-2) are soundboard grade, then the video version (DISC 3) is completely professional shot grade! In terms of facts, it’s an audience shot made up of many videos edited with multi-camera editing, but the actual performance is undeniably pro-shot. Even in one song, the angles that change at a dizzying pace are so diverse that you don’t know the number of materials used, and there are no bad cuts (!), which is surprising. Even though the angles are completely different, each one is a super-superb view class that is not disturbed by the shadow of the audience. If there is a full view of the stage, there is also a super close-up of each member, and it is so cool that even the composition of every moment has been calculated. No matter how multi-camera editing is done, there is usually a difference in image quality, and the material is biased towards the main members. However, in this work, all the cuts are cool, and they switch without stopping. This is also combined with the super-superb sound of the sound board class, and it is really a professional shot … No, it is finished in a video work with higher quality than the professional shots of Sonjosokora.

… and it looks like this. There are various methods for the “○ anniversary” anniversary tour, but in their case they have narrowed down to “early” instead of summarizing their careers. In terms of songs played in full form, “Crimson Idol” is the most popular, but the axis of the show, including the medley, is rather rich in “Majinden” color. We’re focusing on ’40 years ago’ rather than ’40 years’. And the performance that spells such a set is amazing. The most surprising thing is Blackie Lawless. He is already 66 years old, but his singing voice is still as aggressive as it was back then.
“The W.A.S.P. has been out of Japan for a quarter of a century.” Perhaps you will not be able to experience the “40 Years World Tour”. This work is a 3-disc set that clears up such regret. Even if the official work of the 40th anniversary tour is not left, this work is more than enough. A completely official-class absolute audience work that stands in such a dimension. そんなショウを真空パックした本作は、ライヴアルバムも映像も極上の逸品ぞろい。まずフル・ライヴアルバム（DISC 1-2）ですが、これがもう「まるでサウンドボード」を時で行く凄まじさ。何しろ、現代の名手と名高い「bcironmaiden」氏の最新コレクションなのです。名機「Schoeps MK4」の達人として知られ、当店でもポール・マッカートニーやビリー・ジョエル等のジェネラル系の名作が大人気。しかし、本人が愛して止まないのは（その名の通り）HR/HM。極太で距離感のない芯といい、鮮やかなセパレート感といい、艶やかで美しい鳴りといい、すべてサウンドボード級……いえ、オフィシャル作品級という業物なのです。
ライヴアルバム（DISC1-2）がサウンドボード級だとするなら、映像篇（DISC 3）は完全プロショット級！　事実関係から申しますと数々の映像をマルチカメラ編集で組み上げたオーディエンス・ショットなのですが、実際の見応えは掛け値なしにプロショットに思えてくるのです。１曲の中でも目まぐるしく変わるアングルは使用素材の数が分からないほど多彩で、しかもダメカットがない（！）から驚き。角度がまるで違うのに、１つひとつがオーディエンスの影に一切邪魔されない超絶景クラス。ステージ全景もあれば、各メンバーの超アップもありますし、一瞬一瞬の構図まで計算されたようなカッコ良さ。いかにマルチカメラ編集とは言っても、普通は画質クオリティ差はあるはずですし、素材もメインのメンバーに偏ってしまうもの。ところが、本作は全部のカットがカッコ良く、しかも止めどもなく切り替わりまくるのです。これまたサウンドボード級の超極上音声も相まって、本当にプロショット……いや、そんじょそこらのプロショットよりもクオリティの高い映像作品に仕上がっているのです。

……と、このようになっています。「○周年」のアニバーサリー・ツアーには様々な手法がありますが、彼らの場合はキャリアを総括するのではなく、「初期」に絞り込んできた。完全形で演奏する曲で言うと『クリムゾン・アイドル』が一番多いのですが、メドレーも含めたショウの軸はむしろ『魔人伝』カラーが濃厚。「40年間」ではなく「40年前」にフォーカスしているのです。そして、そんなセットを綴るパフォーマンスがスゴい。何より驚きなのは、ブラッキー・ローレス。彼もすでに66歳なのですが、その歌声は当時そのままでアグレッシヴ……いや、むしろ上手くなっているくらいです。
もう来日しなくなって四半世紀というW.A.S.P.。恐らく“40 Years World Tour”も体験する事はできないでしょう。本作は、そんな悔しさを晴らしてくれる３枚組なのです。仮に40周年ツアーの公式作が残されなかったとしても、本作があれば十二分。そんな次元に立つ完全オフィシャル級の絶対オーディエンス作。どうぞ、お腹いっぱい存分に御堪能ください。
