reat man Eddie Van Halen “June 26, 2013: Osaka City Central Gymnasium” has become the last live in Japan in his lifetime. The gift release decision is a super-superb view video that allows you to fully experience the whole seven parts.
Speaking of their last visit to Japan, it is also left as the official live album “TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT” which has become an isaku. First, let’s look back on the schedule at that time and confirm the position of the show.

Above, all 4 performances. The Osaka performance was the last two consecutive performances, but this work is the “last one”. Of course, Eddie Van Halen died without realizing his arrival in Japan after this, so this work was VAN HALEN’s last live in Japan.
This work was shot at such a memorial show, but the actual quality is not so good. The angle was taken from the right side of the stage (Wolfgang side), but the terrifying thing is the proximity of the stage. What a front row shot!
In fact, I lost words for the first time in that superb view. After all, if you catch Dave, it’s a dentition-class do-up, and Eddie’s hand on the other side of the stage can even see the blood vessels. Moreover, the super do-up is very stable. At that time, it seems that Dave himself could shoot, but this sense of stability is a tripod …!?
The super-do-up alone was amazing, but I was even more surprised when I pulled it. Even if it is a panoramic view, no one can be seen. Only the members and the shooting crew in the camera pit are in front of me, and if they aren’t careful, it looks like a sound check. As a matter of fact, it may be taken by the audience, but what you can feel from this work is not an audience shot but a related person shot. It’s a shocking image with a strong sense of “VAN HALEN monopoly”.
The beauty of the image is a full show in which “the last in Japan” oozes in each song, song, and sound. It’s very similar to the last work “TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT”, but it’s not exactly the same, so let’s organize the set.

… And it looks like this. Roughly speaking, it is a style that omits “Mean Street” from “TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT”. And the performance of spinning the set is wonderful. Originally, Dave, who has a series of Japanese MCs such as “What do you pretend to know?” And “I’m sorry I’m not good at Japanese,” is also a highlight, but it’s still nailed to Eddie. Even if it isn’t, this work is shot around him, and even if the viewpoint shifts to Dave in the center of the stage (due to the position), Eddie is on the other side. Of course, in the solo of each song, Takumi’s hand is featured to fill the screen. It is the best image that every move is pierced in the chest.
This is Eddie Van Halen’s last live in Japan. It is a video work that allows us to experience a heavy and memorial show from the ultimate scenic seat. It is one of the miracles that can monopolize Japan’s last brave figure, and the one that we need most now. Please chew your chest full.

偉人エディ・ヴァン・ヘイレン生前最後のライヴ・イン・ジャパンとなってしまった「2013年６月26日：大阪市中央体育館」。その七部始終をフル体験できる超・絶景映像がギフト・リリース決定です。
彼ら最後の来日と言えば、遺作となってしまった公式ライヴアルバム『TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT』としても残されています。まずは当時のスケジュールを振り返り、ショウのポジションを確かめてみましょう。

以上、全４公演。大阪公演は最終２回の連続公演だったわけですが、本作はその「最後の１回」。もちろん、この後の来日も実現しないままエディ・ヴァン・ヘイレンが亡くなりましたので、本作こそがVAN HALEN最後のライヴ・イン・ジャパンだったわけです。
本作は、そんなメモリアルなショウで撮影されたわけですが、実際のクオリティはそれどころではない。ステージ右側（ウォルフガング側）から撮影されたナナメ角度なのですが、恐るべきはステージの近さ。なんと、最前列ショットなのです！
実際、その絶景ぶりには言葉を失う。何しろ、デイヴを捉えれば歯並び級のドアップですし、ステージ反対側にいるエディの手元も血管まで見えるレベルなのです。しかも、その超ドアップがビシッと安定している。当時はデイヴ自身が撮影しても良いと言ったようですが、この安定感はまさか三脚……!?
その超ドアップだけでもド肝を抜かれますが、引いていくとさらに驚き。引いて引いて……と全景になっていっても客の姿が１人も映らない。目の前にいるのはメンバーとカメラピットの撮影クルーだけであり、もし本人達が気を抜いていたらサウンドチェックにも見えてしまう。事実としては観客が撮影しているのかも知れませんが、本作から感じられるのはもはやオーディエンス・ショットと言うよりは関係者ショット。それほどまでに「VAN HALEN独り占め」感が強烈な衝撃映像なのです。
そんな映像美で描かれるのは１曲１曲、１音１音に「日本最後」が滲むフルショウ。遺作『TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT』と酷似していますが、まったく同じでもないのでセットも整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。ざっくばらんに言って『TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT』から「Mean Street」を省略したスタイルです。そして、そのセットを紡ぐパフォーマンスこそが素晴らしい。本来であれば、「何を知らないフリするんですか」「日本語が下手くそですみません」といった日本語MCも連発するデイヴも見どころなのですが、やはりエディに釘付けになってしまう。そうでなくても本作は彼を中心に撮影されていて、ステージ中央のデイヴに視点が移っても（ポジションの関係で）その向こう側にはエディがいる。もちろん、各曲のソロでは匠の手元が画面いっぱいにフィーチュアされる。その一挙手一投足が胸に突き刺さる極上映像なのです。
これがエディ・ヴァン・ヘイレン最後のライヴ・イン・ジャパンです。私たちにとっても重く、メモリアルなショウを究極の絶景席から体験できる映像作品です。日本最後の勇姿を独り占めできてしまう奇跡の１枚であり、今の私たちにもっとも必要な１枚。どうぞ、胸いっぱいに噛みしめてください。
