UFO in 1993 when Michael Schenker returned and reunited with a golden lineup. A live album that allows you to experience the dawn show is now available.
“December 21, 1993 Cologne performance” is imbued in this work. It is the best audience recording. Speaking of the reunion UFO, the performance in Japan in 1994 is also a legend, but it was in 1993 that the golden lineup actually started. First, let’s look back at the schedule and check the position of the show.
● 1993
・December 16-23: Germany (7 performances) ← Coco
● 1994
・ April 16: San Antonio Performance
・ June 12-18: Japan (5 performances)
This is the 1993/1994 UFO. As a matter of fact, it was after the production of “WALK ON WATER” that their activities got into full swing, and before that there were only 13 live performances. The Cologne performance of this work is the very early stage among them. It was a concert that was the 5th performance of the “Germany” tour.
This work, which is a vacuum-packed version of the Dawn Show, is a top-class audience recording that blows away the preciousness. The 1st Gene Master treasured by the world-famous collector “RushFan” was digitized by “luciferburns”, and its sound is super tight. I do not mistake it for a sound board from the vividness between songs and the sound of the snare, but conversely, there is nothing like a customer record. The core is very thick, the details are delicate, the air is transparent, and there is no sense of distance. Although the first song “Natural Thing” can be seen in the direction of the microphone, it is only a slight swaying feeling, and by the time the third song “Let It Roll” is reached, it is stable. There is a complement of another recording for about 20 seconds in the middle of “Love To Love”, but I remember again that “Oh, when I think about it, it was an audience” … It’s such a clear sound.
The crisp and tight sound is a dazzling full show with a fresh golden chemistry that has just been revived. Speaking of the complete reunion stage with Andy Parker, the 1995 Cincinnati performance recorded in “LIVE ON EARTH” is the most famous. Let’s organize the set while comparing here.
・ Phenomenon: Doctor Doctor / Rock Bottom
・Force It: Mother Mary/Let It Roll/Out In The Street/This Kids/Shoot Shoot
・No Heavy Petting: Natural Thing
・New murderous intent: Too Hot To Handle / Love To Love / Lights Out
・Space Conquest: Only You Can Rock Me/Hot ‘N’ Ready (★)
・Thank you: Open and Willing (★) / Positive Forward (★)
*Note: “★” marks are songs that cannot be heard on the official edition “LIVE ON EARTH”.
… and it looks like this. Unlike the official Cincinnati performance SBD, there are still no new songs just before the announcement of “WALK ON WATER”. It is a style that adds Michael Schenker’s acoustic solo “Open and Willing” and “Positive Forward” to the concentrated greatest hits with “Hot ‘N’ Ready”.
And above all, the performance that has just restarted is wonderful. A reunion band is the most delicious right after the restart, but UFO is a typical example. It is clear that he is enjoying the chemistry of the golden age, receiving the hospitality of the audience who witness the revival of the legend. After that, it will develop into a new work and a world tour, but the momentum that feels the response with the whole body overflows from the speakers.
“UFO reunited with Schenker” lasted for 10 years until 2003, despite many twists and turns. However, the period when Andy and Paul Raymond were aligned, and all five were at their best was very short. A new excavation live album where you can witness the scene of such dawn with the finest sound. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ The best audience recording of “December 21, 1993 Cologne performance”. The 1st Gene Master, which was recorded at the dawn show, the 5th performance of the reunion, and was treasured by the world-famous collector “RushFan”. The core is very thick, the details are delicate, the air is transparent, and there is no sense of distance. On the way, it’s a sound that is so far away from the customer record that I think, “Is it a sound board that I’m listening to now?” Andy Parker / Paul Raymond, who will leave later, will also be available, and you can experience a high-tension full show just after the restart.
