SCORPIONS in 1994, who came to Japan with Michael Schenker for the first time in three years. Introducing a masterpiece original recording that conveys the scene.
The performance of “January 26, 1994: Aichi Welfare Pension Hall” was imbued with this work. It is the excellent audience recording. Michael at that time was participating in the reunion UFO, but in between the tours, he accompanied the SCORPIONS tour to promote the solo album “THANK YOU”. I co-starred in an acoustic session. Of course, Michael was accompanied only on some dates in “FACE THE HEAT Tour”. Normally, I organize my visits to Japan according to the schedule of the performance in Japan, but this is a good opportunity, so let’s look back on the whole view of the world tour.

This is the 1993/1994 SCORPIONS. Michael participated in the “Europe / Asia” leg immediately after the album was released. However, it’s unclear if he was accompanied by all the performances, just because Michael’s live was on these two legs. Anyway, the “Asia” leg started in Japan, and the Nagoya performance of this work was the third performance (the last day in Japan).
This work recorded at such a show is a natural sound with fresh master freshness. Recently, the original DAT masters in the suburbs of Nagoya have been running in rapid succession at our shop, and this work is one of them. It is undeniable that it is a little farther than other Nagoya collections, but the atmosphere is transparent and the core that penetrates the center of the collection reaches you powerfully. In particular, the edges and vocals of the guitar are vivid, and the twins are beautifully separated without being mixed.
And the white eyebrows are the acoustic section arranged in the middle of the show. Michael Schenker appears and makes you listen to a simple and moist examination, but the sound of this work beautifully draws the melody of a small acoustic guitar with a sharp edge sound, and it fills with a glittering embrace. And, the whole venue supports such an acoustic guitar melody with clapping hands, but the pleasure of immersing the whole body in the spaciousness and beauty is irresistible.
Of course, the acoustic section is just part of the show. As a whole, there are plenty of masterpieces of SCORPIONS, the incarnation of hard rock. Let’s organize the contents here.

…… And it looks like this. With the three major classics after joining Matthias as the axis, the new songs of the new work “FACE THE HEAT” will be fully performed. In particular, “Someone to Touch” is not only a limited song for this tour, but also a valuable song that cannot be heard in “LIVE BITES”, and even in “Under the Same Sun”, it will be shown as an acoustic ballad with Michael’s participation. In addition, a variety of masterpieces such as Michael’s instrumental “Positive Forward” and “Arajo no Tsuki”, which is unique to Japan, are overflowing endlessly.
Rudolph & Michael’s Schenker brothers, who have been co-starring many times in a long career and are now in an insulated state. Only God knows if the day will come again. This work is one that you can enjoy the chemistry of two people along with the masterpieces of SCORPIONS by acoustic research. A live album with precious and beautiful original recordings. I can’t deny the feeling of distance, but the feeling of air is transparent, and the core that penetrates the center of the door reaches you powerfully. In particular, the edges and vocals of the guitar are vivid, and the twins are beautifully separated without being mixed. Its vividness shines especially in the mid-acoustic section where Michael Schenker appears. It is a live album that depicts the co-starring of the Schenker brothers with beautiful sounds, such as the instrumental masterpiece “Positive Forward” and the precious “Under the Same Sun”.

マイケル・シェンカーを伴って３年ぶりに来日した1994年のSCORPIONS。その現場を伝える傑作オリジナル録音が登場です。
そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「1994年１月26日：愛知厚生年金会館」公演。その絶品オーディエンス録音です。当時のマイケルは再結成UFOに参加していたわけですが、そのツアーの合間にソロアルバム『THANK YOU』のプロモーションのためにSCORPIONSのツアーにも同行。アコースティック・セッションで共演していました。もちろん、マイケルが同行していたのは“FACE THE HEAT Tour”でも一部の日程のみ。普段なら来日物は日本公演の日程で整理するのですが、良い機会ですのでワールドツアーの全景で振り返ってみましょう。

これが1993年／1994年のSCORPIONS。マイケルは、アルバム発売直後の「欧州・アジア」レッグに参加しました。ただし、マイケルが参加したライヴがこの２レッグにあったというだけで、全公演に同行していたかどうかは不明です。ともあれ、「アジア」レッグは日本から始まっており、本作の名古屋公演はその３公演目（日本最終日）にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録された本作は、マスター鮮度が瑞々しいナチュラル・サウンド。当店では最近、名古屋近郊のオリジナルDATマスターが連発しておりますが、本作もその１つ。他の名古屋コレクションに比べるとやや距離があるのも否めないのですが、その空気感が透き通り、ド真ん中を貫く芯も力強く手元に届く。特にギターのエッジとヴォーカルが鮮やかで、ツインの絡みも混じり合うことなく綺麗にセパレートしているのです。
そして、白眉なのがショウ中盤に配されたアコースティック・セクション。マイケル・シェンカーが登場して素朴でしっとりとした調べを聴かせるわけですが、本作のサウンドはエッジ鋭いサウンドがささやかなアコギのメロディも美しく描きだし、キラキラと降り注ぐ抱擁感で満たしてくれる。そして、そんなアコギのメロディを会場中が手拍子で支えるわけですが、その広さと美しさにじっくりと全身を浸す快感がたまらないのです。
もちろん、アコースティック・セクションはあくまでショウの一部。全体ではハードロックの権化SCORPIONSの名曲群がたっぷり。ここでその内容も整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。マティアス加入後の３大定番作を軸に据え、新作『FACE THE HEAT』の新曲群もたっぷりと演奏される。特に「Someone to Touch」はこのツアー限定曲なだけでなく『LIVE BITES』でも聴けない貴重曲ですし、「Under the Same Sun」にしてもマイケル参加のアコースティック・バラードとして披露される。さらにマイケルのインスト「Positive Forward」や日本だからこその「荒城の月」など、多彩な名曲群が止めどもなく溢れ出てくるのです。
長いキャリアで何度も共演を重ねつつ、現在では絶縁状態となってしまったルドルフ＆マイケルのシェンカー兄弟。再び並び立つ日が来るのかは、まさに神のみぞ知るところです。本作は、全盛SCORPIONSの名曲群と共に２人のケミストリーをアコースティックの調べで楽しめる１作なのです。貴重にして美しいオリジナル録音によるライヴアルバム。どうぞ、じっくりとご堪能ください。
