LA in November, which took place as part of the theater gig on the 2002 Licks Tour, suddenly broadcast live footage of the Wiltern Theater on the BBC, causing enthusiasts around the world to panic.
It is reported that the gig at Wilturn was also shot in the rear tie, and after that, four songs are seeing the light of day as a bonus live video of the document disc in the “FOUR FLICKS” DVD set. In addition, the opening song “Jumpin’Jack Flash” was broadcast on TV, and while the existence of the video was confirmed from early on, it was also a video that was only small. I was surprised because it was suddenly broadcast this July.
However, it is a pity that all the songs of the gig were not played on the broadcast, and it is regrettable that the theater repertoire of “Neighbors” and “Hand Of Fate” was cut. Of course, those are the songs that can be seen at the Olympia Theater of “FOUR FLICKS”, but I’m a maniac who thinks that I should have cut even the ordinary songs in the latter half of the live (laughs).
Also, Keith’s “You Don’t Have To Mean It” used in “FOUR FLICKS” has been cut. Still, the recording time of 70 minutes and the vivid image quality of the latest 2022 broadcast are spectacular.

After all, Stones is strong in recording, and although the whole band is quite enthusiastic here as well, it is more than ever because it is a gig that rushed to Neil Young and the late Tom Petty and other rock celebrities. The figure that is sharp is projected. Or rather, it can be called overaction (bitter smile).
It’s been quite a long time since the first two songs, and Mick and Ronnie are playing with Darryl Jones, and it’s because they are clearly conscious of recording … It’s funny to see everywhere.
The Licks Tour, which seemed to be just recently, has already passed 20 years ago. That’s why Keith’s crisp stage action and dignified looks look fresh now. At this time he was just before his 60th birthday.

Even if some songs were cut, the repertoire and scenes that were the highlight of the day were recorded firmly. Mick’s enthusiastic singing is overwhelming in “Stray Cat Blues”, and “That’s How Strong My Love Is”, which was especially popular in the theater repertoire, is also attractive.
However, the biggest highlight of the day was “Everybody Needs Somebody To Love”, which was performed with the surprise that the originator Solomon Burke appeared. Of course, this is the take that was adopted for the live album “LIVE LICKS”, but here you can watch it with images included.
If you look at it, it is presumed that the recording of “FOUR FLICKS” was postponed because the giant Burke appeared only about half of the performance, but even now the dead R & B giant is Mick. The scene to duet is a masterpiece. The ending, in which Burke himself puts the cloak that he normally had on Mick’s shoulder when he left, is really funny.
And it is unique to the video that you can see Mick and Keith’s really happy and innocent facial expressions after he left. It would have been nice to be able to co-star with the R & B giant they admire. A peaceful scene unique to theater gigs.
It is said that the nostalgic Licks Tour 2002 theater gig’s popular Wiltern Theater pro shot video will be released suddenly. Also, the very easy-to-see length of 70 minutes is a big attraction. Is it okay for such a great live video to appear? This is a must-see for enthusiasts all over the world!

2002年リックス・ツアーにおけるシアター・ギグの一環として行われた11月のLAはウィルターン・シアターのライブ映像が突如BBCにて放送されて世界中のマニアを騒然とさせています。
確かにウィルターンでのギグはリアタイでも撮影されていたことが報じられており、その後「FOUR FLICKS」DVDセットにおけるドキュメント・ディスクのおまけライブ映像として四曲が日の目を見ています。さらにテレビでオープニングの「Jumpin’ Jack Flash」一曲が放送されるなど、早くから映像の存在が確定していた一方で小出しにとどまっていた映像でもある。それがこの7月に突如として放送されたものだからびっくり。
ただし放送でギグの全曲が流されなかったのは残念であり、おまけに「Neighbors」と「Hand Of Fate」というシアター用レパートリーまでカットされたのが無念。それらはもちろん「FOUR FLICKS」のオリンピア・シアターで見られる曲ではありますが、どうせならライブ後半のありふれた曲でもカットしてくれればよかったのに（笑）と思ってしまうのがマニアですよね。
また「FOUR FLICKS」に採用されていたキースの「You Don’t Have To Mean It」もカット。それでも70分に及ぶ収録時間と2022年最新放送の鮮烈な画質は見応え十分。

何と言っても収録に強いストーンズです、ここでもバンド全員が相当にはりきっているのですが、ニール・ヤングに故トム・ペティといったロック界のセレブまで駆け付けたギグということから、いつにも増してはりきっている姿が映し出されています。というかオーバーアクションと言ってもいいのでは（苦笑）。
もう冒頭の二曲からして相当なはりきりぶりで、ミックはもちろんロニーがダリル・ジョーンズとじゃれ合うなど、明らかに収録を意識しているからこそ…という場面が随所で観られて微笑ましい。
つい最近のように思えたリックス・ツアーも早20年前が経過。それだけにキースのキビキビとしたステージ・アクションと凛々しいルックスが今となっては新鮮に映ってしまうほど。この時の彼は還暦を迎える直前であったのでした。

それにいくつかの曲がカットされていてもこの日の目玉となるレパートリーや場面はしっかり収録されている。「Stray Cat Blues」ではミックのもの凄い熱唱が圧巻ですし、シアター用レパートリーの中でも特に人気の高かった「That’s How Strong My Love Is」もまた魅力。
しかし何と言ってもこの日最大の見どころはオリジネイターのソロモン・バークが登場するというサプライズと共に演奏された「Everybody Needs Somebody To Love」。もちろんライブアルバム「LIVE LICKS」に採用されたテイクですが、ここでは映像込みで観られてしまう。
いざ見てみれば、なるほど巨漢のバークが演奏の半分くらいしか登場しなかったことで「FOUR FLICKS」の収録が見送られたのだと推測されますが、それでも今は亡きR＆Bの巨人がミックとデュエットする場面は圧巻。去り際に普段なら自分がかけてもらっていたマントをミックの肩にバーク自らかけてあげるエンディングが実に微笑ましい。
そして彼が去った後のミックやキースの実に嬉しそうで無邪気な表情が見られるのも映像ならでは。彼らが敬愛するR＆Bの巨頭と共演できたのが嬉しかったのでしょう。正にシアター・ギグならではの和やかな場面。
今となっては懐かしのリックス・ツアー2002年シアター・ギグの中でも人気のあったウィルターン・シアターのプロショット映像が突如公開されるとは。それに70分という非常に見やすい長さなのも大きな魅力。こんな凄いライブ映像がしれっと登場していいのでしょうか？これはもう全世界のマニア必見！
