However, suddenly the third sound source appeared on the net this month on July 10th. Also, in terms of sound image, it is in a state of going between the past two, and although it is not as close as “recorder 1”, it is overwhelmingly closer than “recorder 2” and the direct feeling of the performance is also wonderful. And above all, the balance of not picking up the voices of the surrounding audiences helped to make it even easier to hear.
The only thing that was missed in this sound source was that the final stage of the famous performance “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)” was not recorded. Therefore, when this release is made, “recorder 1” is supplemented so that it can be heard to the end. Of course, there is a difference between monaural and stereo, but since the sound image of this sound source is close, I wonder if I can listen to it without feeling any discomfort. 都合五回行われたローリング・ストーンズの1975年7月のLAフォーラム公演と言えば、今やオフィシャルで11日の映像と13日のマルチトラック録音がリリースされている訳ですが、それ以前はマニアの間はマイク・ミラードの超絶録音による13日が圧倒的な人気を誇っていました。ところが、そんなミラードですら録音できなかったのが10日。この日はアナログ時代に女性が主宰のレーベルIdle Mind Productions「1975 TOUR OF THE AMERICAS」三部作としてリリースされ、中でもこの日オンリーなアドリブ・イントロが伝説の名演となった「Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)」を収めていた「CHARLIE WATTS AND HIS FABULOUS ROLLING STONES」は女性レーベルらしい愛嬌のあるタイトルとジャケットで名盤との誉れも高かったもの。
それだけでなく、同三部作はほぼリアタイでストーンズ75年ツアーの演奏の凄まじさを伝えてくれ、なおかつ当時としては非常に良好な音質であったことも高く評価された点だったと言えるでしょう。これがLAフォーラム7月10日の「recorder 1」となります。惜しまれるのはミラード録音にもひけを取らない素晴らしいオーディエンス録音だった一方で「1975 TOUR OF THE AMERICAS」三部作のメインが13日の録音であり、貴重な10日のテイクは「補填要員」として6曲のみの収録に留まったこと。その6曲からも演奏の素晴らしさは十分に感じられたのですが、あまりにも短かい。
その後ミラードの13日と9日の録音がマニアの間で普及するに至り、10日に関しては75年LAフォーラムの中でも一種ベールに包まれた感のあった一日だったのですが、21世紀を迎え、遂に発掘された「recorder 2」がVGPレーベルからリリースされた「1975 NERVOUS BREAKDOWN」。これによって10日のショーの全貌がようやく明らかとなります。もっともかなり音像の遠いオーディエンス録音だった上に、右チャンネルで終始絶叫する女性がいたこと、そしてリリースされた時代を反映したシュワシュワとした質感が惜しまれましたが、マニアには大歓迎されたリリースでもありました。

ところが突如として7月10日第三の音源が今月ネット上に姿を現したのです。過去に登場した二種類の音源はどちらもステレオ録音でしたが、今回はモノラル。よって再生される際はヘッドフォンよりもスピーカーからガンガン鳴らした方が圧倒的に楽しめることでしょう。また音像的には過去の二つの間を行くような状態で、「recorder 1」ほど近くはないものの、「recorder 2」よりは圧倒的に近くて演奏のダイレクト感も素晴らしい。そして何より周囲の観客の声を近くで拾っていないバランスがさらなる聞きやすさを後押ししてくれたのです。
そんな今回の音源で唯一惜しまれるのは、よりによって名演「Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)」の終盤が録音されていなかった。そこで今回のリリースに際しては「recorder 1」を補填することで最後まで聞き通せるように仕上げています。もちろんモノラルとステレオという違いはあるものの、今回の音源も音像が近いので思いのほか違和感を覚えず聞き込めることかと。さらにもう一つのカットであるフィナーレ「Sympathy For The Devil」の終わりに関しては「recorder 2」をパッチ。

そしてこの日の名演中の名演である「Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo」は今回の音源で聞いても改めてそのカッコよさに圧倒させられます。同曲を始める前でちょっと間が空いてしまった（キースのギター交換との説が濃厚）ことから観客が演奏を始めてもらうべく催促の手拍子を開始。そこへ機転を利かせたミックが同じパッセージのスキャットを始めるとバンドもそれに合わせ始め、ちょっとしたファンキー・ジャム状態に。それがイイ感じで盛り上がってきたところ、ミックの奇声とキースのイントロの弾き出しが絶妙なタイミングで合わさってこの上なくスリリングな幕開けとなったことが名演たる所以であり、他の日では見られないスペシャルなパターンだったのです。
ところが今回の新発掘音源で聞いてみれば、他の曲でもストーンズの演奏は爆裂しまくり。いかにも75年らしくミックはオープニングから飛ばしまくって「Star Star」の後のMCはキレッキレですし、毎回気合の入ったギターソロを聞かせた「You Can’t Always Get What You Want」でのロニーのプレイは75年LAフォーラムの中ではベストではと思えるほどの見事なフレーズが。
何よりこの日の「Midnight Rambler」は爆裂という表現がぴったりと当てはまるもので、毎回テンション高めな演奏が披露されていた75年ライブテイクの中でもキレッキレなテンションとワイルドさが冴えわたっている。そしてライブ後半からフィナーレにかけてときたら、もはや暴走機関車のごとし。あまりにもワイルドで激しすぎる。過去二つの音源からはこうした演奏の凄まじさが捉え切れていなかっただけに、今回の新発掘音源によってLAフォーラム翌日の映像や13日にもまったくひけをとらない、ライブ全体がずば抜けた出来であったことを思い知らされるのではないでしょうか。是非スピーカーから爆音で鳴らして楽しんでください！
