ツアーが進むにつれて登場するオーディエンス録音の音質が向上してくる…という現象はどのアーティストでも見られるものですが、9月末から始まったローリング・ストーンズ2021年版「NO FILTER」ツアーに関してもまたしかり。これまでリリースされてきた中でもナッシュビルにLA二日間といった具合にオーディエンス録音のクオリティが尻上がりに向上してきましたが、いよいよ今までの中でも最高峰だと断言できる極上録音が遂に登場します！
“Markbot”なるテーパーによって録音されたのは10月29日のタンパ、レイモンド・ジェームス・スタジアム。彼が公開してくれたオーディエンス録音はストーンズ登場前の会場に流されたSEを聞いただけでも「…これは近い」と確信できる圧倒的な音像。そして彼らの演奏が始まるともう大迫力。チャーリー亡き後に敢行された今回のツアーでもベスト・クオリティだと断言したくなる見事なオーディエンス録音が現れてくれたのだ…とマニアを感激させるであろうことはもちろん、ここまで来ると初心者でも安心して聞きこめるレベルの音質。

それに何が嬉しいって、それだけ別格のクオリティを誇る2021年ツアー最新音源というだけでなく、絶好調のストーンズが最高音質で聞けるというのが大きな魅力。この日、オープニングの「Street Fighting Man」に続いて演奏されたのは「Get Off Of My Cloud」。LA初日に次いでの披露となりましたが、やはりスティーブのドラミングによって本来の勢いを見事に取り戻しています。
ここからもういっちょブライアン期の曲でも演奏するのかと思いきや、いい意味でファンを裏切ってくれた驚きのレパートリーが「Sad Sad Sad」。まさか「STEEL WHEELS」の楽曲を持ち出してくるだなんて。もちろん1989年から90年にかけて毎晩演奏されてきたレパートリーだった訳ですが、それ以降はポツリポツリと演奏されただけ。意外にもチャーリー存命時のラストツアーである2019年になって4回も演奏されていました。この時の演奏も悪くなかったのですが、今回の演奏ではここでもまたスティーブが往年の勢いを蘇らせてくれている。
確かに演奏自体は凄くいい感じなんですが、間奏でキースがソロを弾き始めるとあれ？フレットの抑え間違えで音程がずれている。既に出回っている各種動画で見られた方も多いかと思われますが、陶酔気味な様子で彼が弾いている一方、音が外れたまま弾き続けてしまった姿にずっこけてしまった方も少なくなかったのでは。ここが玉に瑕ではありますが、演奏自体は今後を期待するに十分なものだと言えるかと。
この日もう一つのレア・ナンバーはファン投票からの「Far Away Eyes」。こちらはゆったりカントリー調の曲ですので、2015年の「ZIP CODE」ツアー、ナッシュビル以来となる演奏はまったくブランクを感じさせないもの。この曲の前には「Beast Of Burden」も演奏され、さらにライブ中盤ではおなじみ「Miss You」があることから、この日はプチ「Some Girls Night」的セットリストだったのも魅力的。

そしてキースが歌う「Connection」に関しては、もはや2021年版「NO FILTER」ツアーを代表するレパートリーと化した感がありますが、その演奏は良くなる一方。イントロでキースがぐちゃぐちゃ弾いても演奏自体はまったく揺るぎなく、そこへきて音質も抜群なので安心して聞いていられるレパートリーだとも言えましょう。
「Midnight Rambler」に関してもどんどん展開が白熱してきており、スティーブの代わりに俺が引っぱればいいのか…とばかりにミックがハイテンションにバンドを煽ってくれた結果、今回のツアー開始以降の同曲ではベストだと呼べるほどの出来を示しています。そんな彼が煽るのはバンドだけにとどまらず、往年のステージを彷彿とさせるような奇声を連発して観客をも煽ってみせる。ここで周囲の観客がそれに応えるのですが、そのバランスが耳障りでない点も今回の録音の卓越したところ。
音質よし、演奏よし、そしてレアなレパートリーまで登場するという三拍子揃った最新ツアー音源。あの本ツアートップとの誉れ高き「LOS ANGELES 2021 1ST NIGHT」をも凌いでしまった安定感抜群のウルトラ・レコーディングなオーディエンス・アルバムでスティーブを配した新生ストーンズの今を心ゆくまでお楽しみください！
