The superb live album called “the best sound board of the 90’s” is back. Introducing a press CD that permanently preserves the Best Master.
The masterpiece was recorded in “October 2, 1995 Stockholm performance”. It is the superb stereo sound board recording. RAINBOW in the 90’s, which welcomed Doogie White, had been active for about two years, but in 1995 it was a moment of start. The formalized “BLACK MASQUERADE: ROCKPALAST ’95” is also a famous time, so let’s unravel the schedule at that time as well.

This is the 1995 RAINBOW. After the album was released in the summer, the first year of restart was completed with “25 performances in Europe + 9 performances in Japan”. The Stockholm performance of this work is the second performance, which is the beginning of the performance. It was a concert just one week before “ROCKPALAST ’95”. This show was broadcast on the radio and attracted attention as “You can listen to the new RAINBOW on the sound board!”, And various existing groups were born. It became a standard at once. Among them, “SCANDINAVIAN NIGHT”, which appeared on the Langley label, has gained a reputation for being of the highest quality. This work was revived from the original Aircheck Master.
The quality is exactly the highest ever. It’s clear from the fact that the outro part that concludes the program is recorded after “Smoke On The Water”, but more important than that is the sound that goes through the whole story. We haven’t made it “just like a different thing” only for masters who have been acclaimed as “completely official grade” for a long time, but the accuracy of raising and finishing has improved. Especially easy to understand is the stereo feeling, and the balance that was previously biased toward the right channel has been adjusted, and the degree of perfection as a musical work has risen sharply.
In fact, it is a bonus track that you can be sure of its high quality. This Stockholm performance is used not only for broadcasting but also for officially, and “The Temple Of The King” was adopted as the B-side track of the single “Ariel”. This work also includes such an official sound board, but there is no difference in quality from the main story. You can realize that “completely official class” is not an exaggeration or anything.
The sound is drawn with the enthusiasm of the new RAINBOW that has just started. Unfortunately, unlike “ROCKPALAST ’95”, it is edited according to the broadcast frame of about 1 hour, so let’s check the contents as well.

その最高傑作が記録されたのは「1995年10月２日ストックホルム公演」。その超極上ステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。ドゥギー・ホワイトを迎えた90年代RAINBOWは２年ほど活動していたわけですが、1995年は始動の刹那。公式化された『BLACK MASQUERADE: ROCKPALAST ’95』も有名な時期ですので、併せて当時のスケジュールを紐解いてみましょう。

これが1995年のRAINBOW。夏にアルバムが発売になった後は「欧州25公演＋日本９公演」で再始動の初年を終えました。本作のストックホルム公演は、その中でも序盤も序盤となる２公演目。『ROCKPALAST ’95』のちょうど一週間前にあたるコンサートでした。このショウはラジオ放送されて「新生RAINBOWがサウンドボードで聴ける！」と注目を集め、さまざまな既発群が誕生。一気に定番となりました。中でも特にベスト・クオリティと評判を集めたのがLangleyレーベルから登場した『SCANDINAVIAN NIGHT』。本作は、その大元になったエアチェック・マスターから起こし直されたものなのです。
そのクオリティは、まさに過去最高。「Smoke On The Water」の後で番組を締めくくるアウトロ・パートが収録されていることからも大元なのは明らかですが、それ以上に重要なのは全編を貫くサウンド。以前から「完全オフィシャル級」と絶賛されたマスターだけに「まるで別物」とまでは行っていませんが、起こしと仕上げの精度はアップ。特に分かりやすいのはステレオ感で、従来は右チャンネルに偏っていたバランスを整え、音楽作品としての完成度がグッと上がっています。
そのクオリティの高さを確信できるのが、実はボーナス・トラック。このストックホルム公演は放送だけでなく公式にも使用されており、シングル『Ariel』のＢ面トラックとして「The Temple Of The King」が採用されました。本作は、そんな公式サウンドボードも追加収録しているのですが、本編とクオリティ差がまったくない。「完全オフィシャル級」が誇張でも何でもない事実だと実感できるのです。
それほどのサウンドで描かれるのは、始動間もない新生RAINBOWの熱演。残念ながら『ROCKPALAST ’95』とは違って約１時間の放送枠に沿って編集されてもいますので、その内容もチェックしておきましょう。
