“ANOTHER FINYL VINYL (Black Box 047)” made a big sensation by turning “maniac’s dream” into reality. The dream album that will be the second bullet is born! A press CD that permanently preserves the impact that far surpasses the first edition will be urgently released!!
The true identity of this work is “DOWN TO EARTH’s rough mix with songs”. Yes, Graham Bonnet’s version with vocals that I had no choice but to imagine from the instrumental track has become a reality!
“How in the world was this possible?” This work was created by the same overseas RAINBOW researcher who produced “ANOTHER FINYL VINYL”. Not only is he well versed in sound source knowledge, but he is also good at the latest editing technology, and he uses digital technology to disassemble studio recordings and soundboard live performances for each instrument. I remixed Graham’s vocal track (and Richie’s guitar solo) to the rough mix of “DOWN TO EARTH”. Of course, since the performances are different, it was not something that could be heard by simply overlapping, but there is no such worry in this work. Of course, there are differences in arrangements such as tempo adjustment and the number of repetitions, but it is finished as a perfectly matched studio work through detailed synchronization work for each bar.
What’s more, the selection of takes is exquisite. As a matter of fact, this work contains not only all songs of “DOWN TO EARTH”, but also some version differences, and can be divided into three sections. Let’s introduce each one individually.

Rough mix version with song “DOWN TO EARTH” (8 songs)
A rough mix with the main song of this work. The demo of “DOWN TO EARTH” has “Instrumental Outtake” recorded in the official deluxe edition and the so-called “cozy tape” excavated by our shop, but the latter is the foundation here. Although there are several types of “Cozy Tape” with differences in transfer accuracy and mastering, the one used in this work has the best sound and still retains the original form of the rough mix. Black Box 024”.
Overlaid on such an instrumental rough mix is (basically) the vocal track from the final version of “DOWN TO EARTH”. Richie’s solo is also mixed in the song where the guitar solo was not recorded. Since the production concept is not to raise the degree of perfection, but to “rough mix with songs”, the original taste of the demo is preserved as much as possible, and arrangements such as song order and number of repetitions are different, and processing of silent parts is done as much as possible to create a “cozy tape”. ” is compliant.
In this way, all the album songs except “Since You Been Gone” + eight songs of “Stone (Bad Girl)” were born with different versions with songs, but there are two exceptions. First, “Bluesing (Love’s No Friend)”. This song has a provisional lyric version of “Ain’t A Lot Of Love In The Heart Of Me” in the official Dela Eddie, and if it is in the rough mix stage, this vocal should have been on. Therefore, only the official Dela Eddie vocal track is extracted and synchronized with the “cozy tape” backing.
Another song is “Sparks Don’t Mean A Fire (No Time To Lose)”. This is the only song in “Cozy Tape”. This is a re-recording without changing the editing, just adjusting the volume, sound pressure, etc. with other songs. Still, it is much easier to listen to than past rough mixes, and the lyrics can be heard well. It has a degree of perfection that is comparable to the final version.
Now.
“Another song with DOWN TO EARTH” was completed in this way, but it’s fresh and super cool! A tremendous impact from the first song “Stone (Bad Girl)”. It starts from the example count, but when Graham’s vocals ride on that rough and vivid performance, the degree of perfection explodes at once. It can be heard as a normal studio album. It seems that it will be established even if it is replaced with the final completed version.
Of course, even with that said, it’s also clear that it’s different from the final version. “The Steamer (Lost In Hollywood)” was unexpected that the intro tremolo was decided so cool, and “Once More With Feeling (All Night Long)” also had vocals, so the last sound rises The sharpness of the scene is vivid. Especially fresh is “The Plod (Makin’ Love)”. The arrangement that the vocal comes in immediately after the intro is new and natural.

● Rough mix with song of “Set Me Free” (1 song)
In addition to the “DOWN TO EARTH” number, the “Cozy Tape” also contained a rough mix of the “LINE-UP” song “Set Me Free”. In this work, this song is also upgraded. Graham’s vocals, which were originally recorded faintly, have been greatly remixed and have been adjusted to the level recorded in the album. Moreover, not only the vocals, but also the rhythm section and guitars are well balanced, and even if you listen to the above “DOWN TO EARTH” continuously, it is sublimated to a degree of perfection that is comparable.

● Live vocals and lively alternative version collection (7 songs)
“I’m overwhelmed with emotion so far, but this work is far from over.” After that, not the album total, but another version for each song is recorded.
The basis for this is Eradi’s “Instrumental Outtake”. The vocal take of the live album “MONSTERS OF ROCK LIVE AT DONINGTON 1980” is synchronized there. Three exceptions. First of all, “Sparks Don’t Mean A Fire (No Time To Lose)” is another version in which the vocals of the final version “No Time To Lose” are synchronized with the original backing of the official Dela Eddie. “Is not A Lot Of Love In The Heart Of Me (Love’s No Friend)” is synchronized with the vocals of “DENVER 1979” probably because it is not played at MONSTERS OF ROCK.
“All Night Long (Cozy Powell Mix)” is not synchronized, and has been remixed with the balance of the official Dela Eddie version. I thought it would be like a finished version, but it is clear that another take was actually used. Even with the same take, you can clearly enjoy the guitar, piano, etc. that are playing in the mix.
Now.
When it comes to combining studio and live performances, people may think, “That’s wrong” or “It just won’t work.” However, what a surprise, this is actually (if not better than the main story above) so I’m surprised!!! …… No, this is more than that. I can only hear “unpublished studio live” anymore. The coolness beyond the dimension of simply “different from the final version” is strange, and it makes me want to play it as it is in the BBC session and make it a treasure of rock history.
I was worried about the difference in sound quality between the backing and vocals, but this one might be more addictive. In particular, “Eyes Of The World” sings with a melody that Graham has changed over and over again. This version also sounds like “the version I originally wanted to do” that Graham raised.
In the meantime, “Since You Been Gone” is “really a demo”. When I thought, “Is it over?”, the chorus resumed again, but the vocals were mixed here as well. It reproduces the playfulness of the studio, just like a rehearsal. Speaking of nifty mixes, “Lost In Hollywood” is also excellent. In the original take, the keyboard sounds with one chord for about 30 seconds near the last and it cuts off, but while covering the guitar solo here as well, the end is shredded according to the end of the tape. It is a finish that can only be thought that it was such a session from the beginning, and I am impressed by the enthusiastic love that pays attention to every detail.

The above is a new masterpiece of the studio covering a total of 16 takes. “ANOTHER FINYL VINYL” was also a moving work, but this work is far superior in terms of perfection and listening response.
Certainly, this work is a dream album realized through technological progress. However, there is no such perfection even if the fans of Sonjosokora are messing with it. Listening to the details of each sound source, loving it, and backed by deep knowledge that considers the background, it is packed with ideas and obsessive work. It is a “rough mix with songs” and a “new DOWN TO EARTH” that is a crystal of mania love and technological evolution that has been cultivated for over 40 years. Please enjoy it with a press CD that will never lose its shine!

★★ “DOWN TO EARTH Rough Mix with Songs” produced by making full use of cozy tapes and official takes. It was produced by the same RAINBOW researcher as the masterpiece compilation “ANOTHER FINYL VINYL”, and remixed Graham’s vocal track and Richie’s guitar solo in the rough mix of the instrumental “DOWN TO EARTH”. It is the birth of “New DOWN TO EARTH” that you can enjoy as a music work, although it is completely different from the final version.

まずは「Bluesing (Love’s No Friend)」。この曲は公式デラエディに仮歌詞版「Ain’t A Lot Of Love In The Heart Of Me」が収録されており、ラフミックス段階であるならこちらのヴォーカルが乗ったはず。
もう1曲が「Sparks Don’t Mean A Fire (No Time To Lose)」。

●「Set Me Free」

まず「Sparks Don’t Mean A Fire (No Time To Lose)」は公式デラエディの原曲バッキングに、最終版「No Time To Lose」のヴォーカルがシンクロされた別バージョン。「Ain’t A Lot Of Love In The Heart Of Me (Love’s No Friend)」はMONSTERS OF ROCKで演奏していないせいか『DENVER 1979』のヴォーカルがシンクロされています。
そんな中で「いかにもデモ」なのが「Since You Been Gone」。
