“It’s not time for us to leave yet”……with that declaration, LYNYRD SKYNYRD switched from the Farewell Tour to the “BIG WHEELS KEEP ON TURNIN’ Tour”. A super-best video that allows you to fully experience the latest stage has arrived.
This work was filmed at “December 10, 2022 in Las Vegas”. It is a super superb view audience shot that vacuum packed the whole story. They had been doing the “LAST OF THE STREET SURVIVORS FAREWELL Tour” since 2018, but it was suspended due to the new corona pandemic. In the meantime, he realized that music has the power to heal, and decided to reorganize the tour title. Despite the sudden illness of the members, the tour continues to this day. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s take a look at the schedule after resuming activities and check the position of the show.

This is the outline of activities from 2021 to 2023 that have been announced so far. Last year, as soon as they announced the resumption of activities, Johnny and Ricky were infected with the new corona, and Gary had an emergency surgery. I wondered what would happen at one point, but they resumed their activities safely in the summer, and are fully on tour until the fall of next year. Among them, the Las Vegas performance of this work was also the last concert to conclude 2022.
This work, which was shot at such a site, is a super-superb view shot where the stage spreads right in front of you. Strictly speaking, it’s not the front row, but the third row is only two rows ahead of you even if you pull hard. Moreover, the left and right positions are right in front of Johnny, and if you extend his hand, it is a super special seat that seems to touch the members through the monitor.
“That alone is overwhelming, but the camera work is also good.” Actually, I do not do fancy camera work, I usually capture Johnny in the center and shake it to Ricky and Gary at the sights. It’s rather lighthearted, but that’s good. The members are so close that there is no need to approach with a bold zoom, and not zooming is close to the naked eye. Furthermore, the rear screen is also captured at the same time, and it is compatible with the power of direct shooting and the impressiveness of a multi-camera. Nowadays anyone can shoot and process, and in recent years multi-camera editing has become commonplace with audiences. As such technology progresses, conversely, the “immersive feeling of one camera”, the “experience feeling of a special seat”, and the “unprocessed reality”, which cannot be helped by technology, have come to be reconsidered. これが現在までに公表されている2021年ー2023年の活動概要。昨年は活動再開を宣言した途端にジョニーやリッキーが新型コロナに感染したり、ゲイリーが緊急手術になったりと災難続き。一時はどうなるかとも思いましたが、夏場から無事に活動を再開し、来年秋までツアー三昧となっています。その中で本作のラスヴェガス公演は、2022年を締めくくるラスト・コンサートでもありました。
そんな現場で撮影された本作は、ステージがすぐ目の前に広がる超・絶景ショット。厳密には最前列ではないのですが、思いっきり引いても前に２列しかいない３列目。しかも左右の位置もジョニーの真ん前であり、手を伸ばせば、モニターを突き抜けてメンバーに触れそうな超・特等席なのです。
それだけでも感無量なのですが、カメラワークもイイ感じ。実は凝ったカメラワークはしておらず、普段はジョニーをセンターに捉え、見どころでリッキーやゲイリーに振る程度。むしろ淡泊なくらいなのですが、それが良い。果敢なズームで迫るまでもないほどメンバーが近いわけですし、ズームしないのが返って肉眼感覚に近い。さらに言えば、背面スクリーンも同時に捉えることになり、直写の迫力とマルチカメラ的な見応えを両立してもいる。まさに美味しすぎる特等席体験を満喫できるのです。
