アポリスのファースト・アヴェニューで行われたスペシャル・ギグ。アルバ
ム『パープル・レイン』と同名映画の公開で世界的にも人気絶頂を迎える
直前に行われたこの貴重なライブは後に行われるパープル・レイン・ツア
ーとは異なりこの日ライブ初披露となった新曲や未発表曲満載のレアな
セットリストでオープニングでシーラEに提供した「Shortberry
Strawcake」のプリンス・バージョンが流れる中なんとシングルB面曲「17
DAYS」でスタート。続いて完全未発表の「OUR DESTINY
「ROADHOUSE GARDEN」を立て続けに披露。後年ジル・ジョーンズで
発表された「ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT」やシーラEの「NOON
RENDEZVOUS」とレア曲が続き後々にはお馴染みとなる「EROTIC
CITY」もライブ初披露。88年『LOVESEXY』収録の「Positivity」のフレー

曲「WHEN DOVES CRY」でステージを降りた後にアンコールを求める観
客から「Happy Birthday」の合唱が沸き起こり怒涛のファンク・チューン
「IRRESISTIBLE BITCH」「POSSESSED」を演奏。ほとんどがレア曲なが
ら圧巻のライブ・パフォーマンスを披露したまさに伝説のレア・ライブ！で
す。この貴重なライブは極上クオリティのサウンドボード音源が残されて
おりこれまで数多くリリースされてきましたが今回一部オーディエンス音
源で補填した現存する最長マスターを元に開演前からアンコール、終演
後までCD一枚には収まらない85分以上の収録です。本編も過去に出回
