FLOYD’s first concept work, but a phantom masterpiece “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” that was not recorded in the studio. An upgrade master is born in the symbolic sound board album. It will be released as a press 2CD that will permanently leave the design of the much-talked-about “Prof Stoned”.

“Amsterdam performance on September 17, 1969” is engraved on this work. It is the stereo sound board recording. This show is just a legend. In the first place, “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” is a concept work that reconstructs the songs from “Dawn Whistler” to “More” into two parts, “THE MAN” and “THE JOURNEY”. It was not officially recorded at that time, and was performed only on the 1969 “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY Tour”. The sound board of the 1969 Amsterdam performance has served as an “official substitute” for such a phantom work. FM radio broadcasting has created a number of existing groups, literally continuing to convey phantom masterpieces as a substitute for studio works.
When it comes to such a large standard, it is destined to undergo repeated upgrades over its long history (similar to official works). In 2016, the box “THE EARLY YEARS 1965-1972” was officially realized, but even after that, “masters beyond the official” have been discovered. In particular, the pre-FM master tape of the broadcasting station “VPRO” changed the standard at once. It is a master tape that goes back to the original broadcast master LP, and the “original sound” itself, which has never been converted into a physical groove, shocked collectors around the world. Until today, the highest peak was our “UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969”, but this work is a new version that surpasses that peak.
● Vivid sound of another dimension by “Prof Stoned”
The new master was the much-talked-about “Prof Stoned”. The Beatles remix board has been a big topic, but in fact, PINK FLOYD is also a defensive range. The other day, “THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN 2022 REMIXED” was very well received. A true researcher with a deep knowledge of FLOYD, even working on official works. This work is “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” by such “Prof Stoned”.
The upgrades for this work are both quantitative and qualitative. First, quantity. It’s 20 seconds longer than the previous record, UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969. The increasing part is at the beginning, and the traditional Dutch DJ is longer. “UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969” was also converted to CD without leaking the pre-FM master, but the increased part this time is restored from a different air check master. I am reprinting a historical DJ that was not even a pre-FM master.
“However, the extra 20 seconds is nothing more than a bonus.” The true dreadfulness of this work is the sound that penetrates the whole story. This is already an eye-opening splendor. The basic version is not the official version, but the same “pre-FM master” as before, but its vividness is completely different. The vividness is completely different from the chirping of the birds at the beginning of the opening “Daybreak”, and the sharpness is wonderful. And the acoustic guitar arpeggio that flows there is beautiful one note at a time, and it emerges three-dimensionally. The point here is that there is no feeling of forced processing. The sound of the acoustic guitar is so fine that each string is visible, and the sound is so delicate that you can feel the vibration of the body. In fact, it has been digitally remastered, but it is beautiful without being crushed to the subtleties, so it is as natural as it is unprocessed.
Even after that, the sound that was reborn with each note clearly does not stagnate. “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” is also important for modest sound effects, and each one draws a landscape. Therefore, the “three-dimensional and delicate” sound of this work is directly connected to the reality of the concept world itself. It is not just a dimension of “a masterpiece with better sound”, but “improving the expressiveness of the masterpiece itself”.
Pink Floyd’s first masterpiece, embarking on the concept road, is depicted with such an upgraded sound. As mentioned above, it consists of two parts, “THE MAN” and “THE JOURNEY”, and the previous repertoire has been rearranged and played. I think that there are many people who know the contents of the show, but even for the first time, let’s organize the contents here.
