Paul Stanley in 1989 realized his first solo tour. Introducing the best live album where you can experience the full show in real life.
What is inscribed in this work is “March 6, 1989 Toronto performance”. This is a close-contact audience recording that vacuum-packs the whole story. Paul has devoted most of his career to KISS, but has also performed occasionally as a solo performer. Most of them were one-off stages, but we have also gone on three tours so far. This is also a good opportunity, so let’s take a look at his solo tour in full time.

This work, which conveys such a show, is a clear and powerful masterpiece recording. You won’t mistake it for a sound board in terms of tone, but the listening response is at the same level as an FM broadcast. The edges are clear and vivid, with the core reaching straight to the edges, and the details are super clear. Above all, the performance sound and vocals are so dense that they don’t feel sparse at all, and you don’t feel any distance at all. I think it’s probably because the venue itself is small, but the feeling of being in a closed room where Paul is right in front of you is amazing.
In addition, the loud chorus on the scene further enhances the feeling of being in a closed room. It’s not a recording where you’ll be bothered by the roar of the person sitting next to you (never!), but in the KISS number, chants come from all directions like a wall. Of course, the chanting synchronized with the upcoming stage performance creates a tremendous sense of elation, and you can experience the bliss of being in the middle of it all. I don’t know the actual size of the venue, but there is no doubt that you can enjoy the club-like taste of a closed room to the fullest.
What is drawn with such private sound is a valuable solo full show. Not only the 1978 solo album, but also delicious rare KISS numbers are selected. Let’s organize the set right away.

KISS has performed solo songs before, but it’s only been a few times in our long history, and they’ve only been for special circumstances such as acoustic conventions and cruise events. This work, which is a solo performance, is played by a band strictly electric (on the other hand, “New York Groove” is just for fun). “Let’s Put the X in Sex” from the best album “SMASHES, THRASHES & HITS” and LED ZEPPELIN’s cover “Communication Breakdown” are also selections that you wouldn’t expect from KISS.
“ONE NIGHT STAND Tour” was a hard rockin’ tour with musicians who have close ties to Bob Kulick and Eric Singer. This is a live album where you can experience the best full show, which can be called “quasi-KISS”, similar to the original but different. そんなショウを伝える本作は、クリアで力強い名録音。音色的にサウンドボードと間違えたりはしませんが、その聴き応えはFM放送級。輪郭までくっきりと鮮やか芯が真っ直ぐ届き、ディテールも超鮮明。何より演奏音もヴォーカルも密度たっぷりでスカスカ感がまるでなく、距離をまったく感じない。恐らくは会場自体が狭いのだと思いますが、「ポールがすぐ目の前にいる」というリアルな密室感がスゴいのです。
また、その密室感を更に高めているのが現場の大合唱。隣席の嬌声に悩まされるような録音では（決して！）ないのですが、KISSナンバーでは四方八方から唱和が壁のようになって押し寄せる。もちろん、間近なステージ演奏ともシンクロした唱和は凄まじい高揚感を醸し、そのド真ん中にいる至福の体験ができる。寡聞に実際の会場規模は分からないのですが、クラブ的な密室の旨みが最大限に味わえるのは間違いありません。
そんなプライベート・サウンドで描かれるのは、貴重なソロのフルショウ。1978年のソロアルバムはもちろん、KISSナンバーも美味しいレア曲が選ばれている。早速、セットを整理しておきましょう。
