The New Power Generation’s first album, Gold Nigger, can be positioned as a phantom album. It was never sold in places like record stores. It was sold only at the live venue on the night of the name change in 1993, and was sold at the time of some telephone orders and celebrations in 2001, but it is now completely out of print. Also, due to the rights relationship that the very nice funk song Guess Who’s Knockin is similar to Paul McCartney’s Let’Em In, the second press does not include that Guess Who’s Knockin.

This time, the extremely rare first press of the phantom first album is recorded on Disc 1 by remastering by Dr. Fink (naturally Guess Who’s Knockin is recorded). Vocal is a funk album with a wonderful composition that mixes story-style segue with Tony M, a song that blends the innovative Prince style backing of the time, including elegant and naughty rap and hip-hop sounds. And Black MF In The House, which coolly advocates the elimination of racial discrimination, is one of the most famous funk in the 90’s, and it is a miracle that this song is included in such a discontinued album.

And Disc 2 is a free disc. A soulful 2Gether funky remix collection that is not sold at the store is recorded by Dr. Fink’s remaster. It’s a clear sounding that Prince is processing in the studio, and the name remix is ​​still unfolding. And while this isn’t a remaster of Dr Fink, it’s a whole digital recording of the second press, which has been despised in a way because Guess Who’s Knockin hasn’t been recorded yet. There may be such a song development, and it will be useful to hear and compare the difference between the remix of Dr. Fink and the original sound quality.

今回幻のファースト・アルバムの激レアのファースト・プレスをリマスタリングに大変定評のあるをDr. FinkによるリマスターにてDisc 1に収録(当然Guess Who’s Knockinが収録されています）。ボーカルはトニーM、エレガントでエッチなラップとヒップホップのサウンドも含めた当時の新機軸のプリンス流バッキングが溶け込んだ楽曲に、ストーリー仕立てのセグエを織り交ぜた素晴らしい構成のファンク・アルバムです。そして人種差別撤廃をクールに主張するBlack MF In The Houseは90年代屈指の名ファンクで、この一曲がこのような廃盤アルバムに収録されているのは奇跡と言えるでしょう。

そしてDisc 2はフリー・ディスクとなっています。やはりお店では売られていないソウルフルな2Getherのファンキーなリミックス集をDr.Finkのリマスターによって収録。プリンスがスタジオで処理していることは明白なサウンディングで迫る名リミックスがこれでもかと展開していきます。そしてこれはDr Finkのリマスターではありませんが、Guess Who’s Knockin未収録のためある意味ずっと蔑ろにされていたセカンド・プレスを丸々デジタル収録。このような曲展開もありなのかもしれませんし、Dr.Finkのリミックスとオリジナルの音質の違いも聴き比べられるということで重宝することでしょう。
