From the 1976 Europe & UK tour that took place after the performance in Japan, London is a two-disc set that recorded the sound source of the second day of Hammersmith Odeon with a good audience recording. Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s 1976 tour, which began with a legendary performance in Japan, will end at Hammersmith Odeon in London. From the performance that was held for four consecutive days, the live video of “Like A Hurricane” on the 31st of the last day and “LONDON ’76” (MASTER PORT-104) released by our shop are famous, but other shows were heard. It seems that there aren’t many enthusiasts. To tell the truth, only the “LONDON ’76” sound source is exceptional, and the audience recordings of Hammersmith Odeon and other performances have B-class sound quality as depicted in the picture. What can be said about these is a stunt and dark sound image. However, although it is a typical sound source for enthusiasts, the clearness is not bad. Still, the sound quality has a very analog-like feel, and if you are a maniac, you should be able to listen to it and rather like it. There was some kind of sharpness in the performance in Japan, but here at Hammersmith Odeon, the atmosphere of Neil Young & Crazy Horse has changed to a loose one. The difference in the atmosphere is also transmitted realistically because of this sound quality. And the high pitch, which is another problem in this sound source, is also adjusted accurately. This made it easier to listen at once. And the performance is a 1976 tour, it can’t be bad. On the acoustic set, he performed “Midnight On The Bay”, which sees the light of day on the album of the Stills Young Band, like “Let It Shine” on the last day of Osaka, and “Down By” on the set with Crazy Horse. The rare sound source that enthusiasts would have wanted to hear, such as the spectacular performances of “The River” and “Like A Hurricane” (which is considered to be the best of Hammer Smith in specialized magazines), is a nice gift release. !!

日本公演後に行われた1976年ヨーロッパ＆ＵＫツアーより、ロンドンはハマースミス・オデオン二日目の音源を良質なオーディエンス録音で収録した2枚組。伝説の来日公演から始まったニール・ヤング＆クレイジー・ホースの76年ツアーはロンドンのハマースミス・オデオンで終盤を迎えます。都合四日連続で行われたその公演からは最終日31日の「Like A Hurricane」のライブ映像や当店リリースの「LONDON ‘76」(MASTERPORT-104)が有名ですが、他のショウを聴かれたマニアがなかなかいないのではと思われます。実を言いますと「LONDON ‘76」音源だけが別格で、ハマースミス・オデオン他の公演のオーディエンス録音は絵に書いたようなB級音質なのです。これらに言えることは、とにかくディスタントで暗い音像。
ただしマニア向け音源の典型とは言え、クリアネスは悪くありません。それでいて非常にアナログチックな感触の音質、これもまたマニアであれば聴いていてむしろ好感を持てるはず。日本公演にはある種キレの良さがあったのですが、ここハマースミス・オデオンでニール・ヤング＆クレイジー・ホースの雰囲気はルーズなものへと変化しています。その雰囲気の違いもこうした音質だからこそリアルに伝わってくるものです。そしてこの音源におけるもう一つの問題である高いピッチも正確にアジャスト。これによって一気に聴きやすくなりました。
それに演奏は76年ツアーです、悪いはずがありません。アコースティック・セットでは大阪最終日の「Let It Shine」と同じようにスティルス・ヤング・バンドのアルバムで日の目を見る「Midnight On The Bay」を弾き語りで披露、さらにクレイジー・ホースとのセットでは「Down By The River」や「Like A Hurricane」の壮絶な演奏（専門誌ではハマースミスのベストだとされています）が聴かれるなど、正にマニアが聴きたかったであろうレア音源が嬉しいギフト・リリースです！
