At that time, it attracted attention as a new project with Herman Rareber of SCORPIONS on drums, and we have archived many masterpiece live albums at our store. A total of 4 performances. Perhaps the impact of the 30th anniversary tour that recalled Gary Burden was too strong, at this time the style of traveling around Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka compactly. This is the third live album, and with the appearance of this work, all performances other than Nagoya have become clear.
This work, which vacuum-packed such a scene, is truly a masterpiece. It is an original recording brought by its own route, and the powerful direct feeling and super-clear details are wonderful. While vividly inhaling the roaring applause, they also feel farther than the sound of the performance without a sense of distance. It is a super vivid recording that makes you feel as if you are surrounded by the members on stage. If you look for it microscopically, you can feel the timbre of the snare, etc., like an audience, but if you turn the back, you can’t find the likeness of a guest record unless you look for evidence with all your might.
What’s even more surprising is that while he’s so straight, he doesn’t freak out at all. Even if the band comes together and attacks, every detail is beautifully drawn, the outline is clear and beautiful, and the sound does not stagnate. Michael Schenker’s mellow tone is endlessly sweet, and Michael Voss’ husky voice is super vivid to the bubble feeling. Of course, there is no cloudiness or turbidity due to hall noise. In order to write this article, I listened to it with all my might while searching for ala, but it is a masterpiece recording that I can not think of at all.
Such a beautiful sound depicts a full show of a new project that summarizes God’s career, while being different from UFO and MSG. Let’s get things sorted out here.

… and it looks like this. With the new song “Hanging On”, various classics of UFO / MSG / SCORPIONS rushed. The balance is clearly specialized for UFOs, and SCORPIONS also played “Rock You Like A Hurricane” and “Blackout”, which are not related to Michael, by welcoming Herman. However, I now know that he later visited Japan twice with Temple of Rock. It may be a set that is even familiar now, but on the contrary, Michael Vos’s singing voice sounds fresh. Originally Michael Schenker prefers a husky voice, but Voss has a hooky voice reminiscent of Jon Bon Jovi. It is very catchy, and it dyes successive masterpieces attractively. As expected, the SCORPIONS number with continuous high notes feels harsh, but still, around “Another Piece Of Meat” and “Rock You Like A Hurricane”, a unique fake creates a different sex appeal than Klaus Meine.
And above all, the UFO number is outstanding. It has a bright rock and roll tone, and the range is not wide. When this happens, the sweet and catchy taste is fully open, and the songs that are good in the first place are even more lively, and the hot singing is more groovy than Phil Mogg. Without fear of misunderstanding, the SCORPIONS number was won by Robin McAuley who sang on the US tour, but the UFO number suits Voss more than anyone in history. That is why I want you to completely reproduce “STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT” with this singing voice.
“What if Michael Schenker joined BON JOVI?”… The era of Michael Voss, where such an impossible delusion aroused. Later Dougie White may have been more dexterous, but rock is interesting because it is dyed with a strong personality. Voss’ singing voice reminds us of that real pleasure. 今なおブレインとしてタッグを組んでいるマイケル・ヴォス。彼をフロントに据えた2012年の日本公演を極上体験できるオリジナル録音が登場です。
そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「2012年３月29日：中野サンプラザ公演」。その超極上オーディエンス録音です。当時はドラムにSCORPIONSのハーマン・ラレベルを迎えた新プロジェクトという事で注目集め、当店でも数々の傑作ライヴアルバムでアーカイヴしてきました。良い機会でもありますので、当時のスケジュールに照らしつつコレクションを整理しておきましょう。

以上、全４公演。ゲイリー・バーデンを呼び戻した30周年ツアーのインパクトが強すぎたのか、この時は東名阪をコンパクトに巡るスタイル。今回が３作目のライヴアルバムであり、本作の登場をもって名古屋以外の全公演が明らかになったわけです。
そんな現場を真空パックした本作は、まさに極上の銘品。独自ルートでもたらされたオリジナル録音でして、強力なダイレクト感と細部まで超克明なディテールが素晴らしい。沸き立つ喝采も生々しく吸い込みつつ、それらも距離感のない演奏音よりも遠くに感じられる。まるでステージ上でメンバーに囲まれているような没入感に襲われる超ビビッド録音です。顕微鏡的にムリヤリ探せばスネアの音色等にオーディエンスらしさも感じられはするのですが、裏を返せば全力で証拠を探さなければ、客録らしさが見当たらないのです。
さらに驚きなのは、そこまでド直球でありつつ、まるでビビらない。バンドが一丸になって攻めてきても細部の細部まで綺麗に描かれ、輪郭はくっきりと美しく鳴りも淀みない。マイケル・シェンカーのトロけるトーンはどこまでも甘美ですし、マイケル・ヴォスのハスキー・ヴォイスは気泡感まで超鮮やか。もちろん、ホール鳴りによる曇りや濁りもまったくない。本稿を書く為にいやらしく全力でアラを探しながら聴いているわけですが、まったく思いつかない名録音なのです。
そんな美麗サウンドで描かれるのは、UFOともMSGとも異なりつつ、神のキャリアを総括する新プロジェクトのフルショウ。ここでその内容も整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。新曲「Hanging On」に留め、UFO／MSG／SCORPIONSの各種クラシックスが猛ラッシュ。そのバランスは明らかにUFOに特化しており、SCORPIONSもハーマンを迎えた事で本来マイケルとは関係ない「Rock You Like A Hurricane」「Blackout」まで演奏。当時の驚きが甦ってくるようです。
もっとも、現在ではその後二度にわたるTEMPLE OF ROCKでの来日も知っている。今となっては馴染み感さえあるセットだったりもしますが、逆に新鮮に響くのがマイケル・ヴォスの歌声でしょう。元々マイケル・シェンカーはハスキー・ヴォイスを好みますが、ヴォスはジョン・ボン・ジョヴィを思わせるフックのある声。それが非常にキャッチーで、歴代の名曲群を魅力的に染め変えている。さすがにハイノートが連続するSCORPIONSナンバーは厳しい気もしますが、それでも「Another Piece Of Meat」「Rock You Like A Hurricane」辺りは独特のフェイクがクラウス・マイネとも違った色気を醸してもいる。
そして何より出色なのがUFOナンバー。明るいロックンロール調ですし、音域も広くない。こうなると甘みのあるキャッチーな旨みが全開で、そもそもノリの良い曲がさらに躍動し、熱い歌いっぷりがフィル・モグ以上にグルーヴィ。誤解を恐れずに言いますと、SCORPIONSナンバーは米国ツアーで歌ったロビン・マッコーリーに軍配が上がりましたが、UFOナンバーは歴代の誰よりもヴォスが似合う。それこそ、この歌声で『STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT』の完全再現をして欲しいほどです。
「もしマイケル・シェンカーがBON JOVIに入ったら？」……そんなあり得ない妄想まで掻き立てられるマイケル・ヴォス時代。後のドゥギー・ホワイトの方が器用だったかも知れませんが、強い個性で染め変えるからこそロックは面白い。ヴォスの歌声は、その醍醐味を思い出させてくれるのです。そんな貴重なフルショウをサウンドボード裸足の超極上サウンドで味わえる新名盤。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分に味わい尽くしてください。
