METALLICA in the 90’s has climbed to the symbol of the times with the astronomical hit of the monster “Black Album”. The gift release decision is a transcendental image that vividly revives the scene.

This is the whole picture of the tour related to “Black Album”. If the San Diego footage of “LIVE SHIT” is in the early stages of the tour and the Mexico City CD is in the middle, the Allentown performance of this work is the final “SHIT HITS THE SHEDS Tour”. It was the 6th performance of the concert.
This work, where you can witness such a show, is a multi-camera image of superb views. Normally, multi-camera objects are mixed with extremely different angles, but the two cameras used in this work are both superb views that look directly in front of the stage without any obstruction. The angles are very similar, just because one is slightly to the left. I thought, “Then there is no point in multiplayer?”, But that’s not the case. Although the seats are close, the members who are paying attention to each scene are different, and they are boldly zoomed in. If you compare this to the feeling of the field, you can see each member’s do-up with binoculars, or you can see the whole view with the naked eye. The umami that changes the field of view unique to multi-cameras and the experience that is typical of an audience are well combined.
What’s even better is the superb sound. Some of you may have already come, but this is a synchronized version of the masterpiece “SHIT HITS THE SHEDS”. For those who haven’t experienced that masterpiece, this recording is a masterpiece that represents “SHIT HITS THE SHEDS Tour” as the title suggests. It has the power of a sound board directly connected to the table and the neatness of FM broadcasting, and it is a superb sound that is far from the audience so that you may wonder “Is livemetalica.com in 1994?”

そんな本作に封じられているのは「1994年６月７日アレンタウン公演」。その超極上オーディエンス・ショットです。当店ではライヴアルバム『SHIT HITS THE SHEDS（Power Gate-214）』が定番となっているショウですが、本作は映像作品。それも２台のカメラを駆使したマルチカメラ作品なのです。その気になるクオリティの前に、まずはショウのポジジョン。『ブラックアルバム』時代は丸３年間で５つのワールド・ツアーを実施し、「勉強の代わりに毎日ライヴをやる学校に入学して卒業するような感じだった」とまで言わしめた怪物ツアー時代。その模様は『LIVE SHIT: BINGE & PURGE』にはサンディエゴ公演とメキシコシティ公演も収録されていますが、ここでは感動の全体像からそれぞれの位置関係を整理してみましょう。

これが『ブラックアルバム』にまつわるツアーの全体像。『LIVE SHIT』のサンディエゴ映像がツアー序盤、メキシコシティCDが中盤だとすれば、本作のアレンタウン公演は終盤の“SHIT HITS THE SHEDS Tour”。その６公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウを目撃できる本作は、超絶景同士のマルチカメラ映像。普通、マルチカメラ物は極端に違う角度が混ざるものですが、本作に使用されている２台のカメラは、どちらも遮蔽物なしにステージ真正面を見すえた絶景。片方がやや左寄りというだけで角度も酷似しています。「じゃあマルチの意味がない？」と思いきや、そうではない。座席は近いものの、各シーンで注目しているメンバーがそれぞれ異なり、しかもガンガン果敢にズームで捉えている。これを現場感覚に喩えますと、双眼鏡で各メンバーのドアップを見たり、裸眼で見た全景が混じったりする感じ。マルチカメラならではの視界が変わる旨みと、オーディエンスらしい体験感が上手い具合に融合しているのです。
さらに素晴らしいのは、超極上のサウンド。もうピンと来た方もいらっしゃるでしょうが、これは名盤『SHIT HITS THE SHEDS』がシンクロされている。あの名作を体験されていない方のために言葉にしますと、この録音はタイトル通り“SHIT HITS THE SHEDS Tour”を代表する名作。卓直結サウンドボードばりの力強さとFM放送のような端正さを併せ持ち、思わず「livemetalica.comって1994年にあったっけ？」と思ってしまうほどオーディエンス離れした極上サウンドなのです。
そんな絶景＆極上クオリティで描かれるのは、1994年ならではのフルショウ。ここではお馴染みサンディエゴ公演の公式映像と比較しながらセットを整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。ひと口に「ブラックアルバム時代」とは言ってもサンディエゴ公演からは２年半が経ち、セットも様変わり。「Breadfan」でのスタートも1994年らしいですし、クリフ時代はほとんど演奏しなかった「Disposable Heroes」や「The God That Failed」といった曲も新鮮。「Justice Medley」に代わる「Kill/Ride Medley」も登場しています。
そして、そんなセットを綴るパフォーマンスも1994年印。世界中のスタジアムを巡りまくった末にたどり着いたアンサンブルは、ダイナミズムの極地。当時は「ルーズ」「グルーヴ」といったワードで語られましたが、リフの一発一発を観客の肝臓に打ち込むように演奏し、ヘヴィネスも重苦しいのではなく重厚の「重」。そして、メンバーの姿も大物の風格が凄い。ジェイソンだけはすでに短髪ですが、あくまでメタリックな出で立ちがえらくカッコイイのです（ちなみに２ヶ月後のウッドストック出演辺りから徐々にカークがお洒落（？）に目覚め始めます）。
