METALLICA embarked on a world tour with their first new album in seven years, “72 SEASONS”. A super-superb video that allows you to experience the latest 360-degree stage, which is also the topic of super-giant snake pit, is now available.
This work contains two consecutive performances at one venue. It is a superb view audience shot of “June 16th / 18th, 2013 Gothenburg performance”. And this work, which conveys such two performances, is super-superb and super-superb. First of all, the shooting position… I don’t know (bitter smile). Furthermore, the sound is also strong. Since it is an open venue with no ceiling, there is no reverberation and the sound from the PA is picked up directly. Moreover, speaking of METALLICA, it is a monster that has kept the stadium class for decades, and the number of live performances is also the best in the scene. The acoustics are supported by the world’s best staff who know everything about huge venues. Although it is a tonal audience, it has the same listening response as a sound board, such as the thickness of the core, the fineness of the details, the direct feeling of turning on, the feeling of spareto, etc.
And then, the last thing is the sense of unity between the two performances. Actually, the two performances of this work are by the same photographer, and the atmosphere of the seats, the quality and the habit of camera work are very similar. You can fully experience the latest show through two performances. Moreover, there is no duplication of one song in the two performances. METALLICA is known to change the set significantly in consecutive performances at the same venue, but it is quite amazing that not a single song is duplicated, including the new songs of “72 SEASONS”. これが現在までに公表されているスケジュール。先日冒頭レッグの「欧州#1」が終了し、現在は８月の全米ツアー向けてオフに入ったところです。本作のヨーテボリ２公演は、そんな「欧州#1」の最終２公演。まさに最新ショウなのです。
そして、そんな２公演を伝える本作は、超極上＆超絶景。まず撮影ポジションは……分からない（苦笑）。今回は360度ステージですので誰の正面という事もないわけですが、分かるのはスタンド席で視点の高さはステージ上のメンバーと同じ。思わず目が合ってるような気になるのです。そして、超絶景＆超ズーム。スタンド席はかなり角度があるらしく視界に前方客の姿が入ってこないですし、攻めまくるズームは入れ替わり目の前にやって来るメンバーのウェストアップが画面いっぱいに広がるほど果敢。膨大な人数（６万人）を詰め込んだスタジアム・コンサートにも関わらず、ライヴの独り占め感がハンパではないのです。
さらに言えば、サウンドも強靱。天井のないオープン会場のために反響がなく、PAの出音を直接拾っている。しかも、METALLICAと言えば、何十年もスタジアム級をキープした怪物であり、ライヴ本数もシーン随一。その音響は巨大会場を知り尽くした世界一のスタッフに支えられている。音色的にオーディエンスではありますが、芯の太さ／ディテールの細かさ／オンなダイレクト感／スパレート感などなど、サウンドボードと変わらない聴き応えなのです。
そしてそして、トドメなのが２公演の統一感。実は本作の２公演は同じ撮影者によるもので、座席の雰囲気もクオリティもカメラワークのクセも酷似している。最新ショウを２公演通しでフル体験できてしまう。しかも、その２公演は１曲もダブりなし。METALLICAは同会場の連続公演ではセットを大きく変える事で知られていますが、『72 SEASONS』の新曲も含めて１曲もダブらないというのはなかなかスゴい。それでは、どんな曲が披露されたのか。全32曲を整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。両日とも「新曲３＋旧曲13」のバランスで、クラシックスは『BLACK ALBUM』までが主軸。『LOAD』以降は１ー２曲ずつで『ST. ANGER』はナシ……という黄金比率です。注目の新曲は両日合わせて６曲が観られるわけですが、現在のところ『72 SEASONS』からライヴ演奏されたのはこの６曲で全部です。
