MEGADETH in 1994 was in the middle of the golden age, sending the masterpiece “YOUTHANASIA”, which is unrivaled in deep emotion, to the 4th place in the United States. Introducing a gorgeous set of sound boards and professional shots that allow you to enjoy the stage.
This work contains 2 performances at the same venue in Buenos Aires. The first appearance of the “December 1, 1994” performance FM broadcast sound board recording is placed on DISC 1, and the next “December 2” TV broadcast pro shot is placed on DISC 2. Speaking of Buenos Aires performances in the “YOUTHANASIA” era, the press super-famous board “DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995 + 1997 (Zodiac 222)” is a big standard, but this work is a completely different performance. This is MEGADETH in 1994/1995. As symbolized by the later emotional movement “THAT ONE NIGHT”, it is extremely popular in Argentina, but in fact, it was the “YOUTHANASIA” era that I visited for the first time. Suddenly, 5 consecutive performances (December 1-5) were realized, and this work was the first and second days of that. Let’s introduce each one individually.

[DISC 1: FM sound board with delicious rare song “Victory”] The first thing that appeared was the FM sound board recording of “December 1st”, which was also the first time in Argentina. If you’re an avid collector Nogata, you might think, “Ah,’ARGENTHANASIA ’94’,” but that’s not the case. That traditional bootleg was known as “December 1st”, but it was actually the third performance “December 3rd”. The reason why it turned out to be another day is that “True December 1st” was excavated. That is DISC 1 of this work.
It was a refreshing story for those who did not know the existing one, but it is still no problem. The ridiculous story is just “a performance different from the old bootlegs”, and the fact that this work itself is a wonderful sound board is the same. As expected, it is a slightly wild FM broadcast that is not as good as the official transcendental absolute board “DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995 + 1997”, but the pleasure that the live performance of “Golden 4 people” is directly poured into the brain is enormous. There are no DJs that are common in South America, and you can fully enjoy powerful performances. Moreover, this work further brushes up the topical net source. As expected, the deterioration in the latter half of “Sweating Bullets” cannot be fixed, but the highest-quality sound that comfortably extends the treble that was not well-cleared as a whole is realized.

…… And it looks like this. First of all, “This Was My Life” is delicious. MEGADETH This is a hidden masterpiece filled with top-notch sorrowful melody, but it was dropped in the middle of this tour. The next revival was the 2012 “COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION” reproduction tour. In that grandly dropped version, the sadness was cut off, but in this work you can enjoy it with the live performance of “Golden 4 People”. And the more extremely rare song is “Victory”. It is a highlight of “YOUTHANASIA”, and it is a comprehensive masterpiece that incorporates the song titles of successive repertoires, but it was only played live at that time. Moreover, it is only the first day of the 5 performances in Buenos Aires, as many times as you can count. This disc is a soundboard album that you can enjoy even such extremely rare masterpieces.

[DISC 2: Super-precious long pro shot where you can see “four golden people”] DISC 2 instead is a multi-camera pro shot of the next “December 2nd”. While DISC 1 was an FM broadcast, this work is a TV broadcast pro shot. This is a video that has been known for a long time, but it has been made into a DVD from the most recently released Best Master.
Of course, it is an analog image quality of the times, but what is surprising is the master freshness. “90’s South American professional shot” is a natural image even if it is stiff, but this work is completely different. Almost no dubbing marks are seen in the smooth and glossy image quality, and no white line noise or tape twist is found. It is a visual beauty that overturns the image of “South American Pro Shot” itself. Rather, is it camera work that feels more like South America than image quality? The number of cameras and switching are perfect, and at first glance it seems that it is not much different from Western broadcasting, but that sense is still developing. There are many large copies of each member, and on the contrary, the audience is zero. The camera is installed in a slightly strange place such as diagonally behind, and the fading process of switching is not good. It makes me smile when I’m not used to rock music yet.
Even so, the professional shot of “Golden 4 people” is extremely valuable. Of course, there are quite a few small TV broadcasts left, but when it comes to 80-minute class long video, there is only this work as “CLARKSTON 1995 (Shades 748)” (as a set, from DISC 1 to “Victory”. It is a style without “.”

A sound board with extremely rare songs excavated for more than a quarter of a century, and a definitive set of professional shots that are extremely rare for the first time in a long time. “Marty Friedman / Nick Menza era” is not enough officially. This work is an absolute two-disc set that will heal the dryness in two full performances. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.

★ A two-disc set that couples the FM broadcast sound board recording (DISC 1) of the same venue performance “December 1, 1994” and the TV broadcast pro shot (DISC 2) of “December 2, 1994” in Buenos Aires. そんな本作に収められているのはブエノスアイレスの同会場２公演。「1994年12月１日」公演の初登場FM放送サウンドボード録音をDISC 1に、翌「12月２日」のTV放送プロショットをDISC 2に配した２枚組です。『YOUTHANASIA』時代のブエノスアイレス公演と言えば、当店ではプレス超名盤『DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995+1997（Zodiac 222）』が大定番ですが、本作はまったくの別公演。その辺の事情を把握する意味でも、まずは当時のスケジュールから振り返ってみましょう。

これが1994年／1995年のMEGADETH。後の感動作『THAT ONE NIGHT』でも象徴されるように、アルゼンチンで絶大な人気を誇っているわけですが、実は初めて訪れたのが『YOUTHANASIA』時代。そこでいきなり５連続公演（12月１日ー５日）が実現しており、本作はその初日と２日目だったわけです。それでは、それぞれ個別にご紹介していきましょう。

【DISC 1：レア曲「Victory」も美味しいFMサウンドボード】
まず登場するのは、初アルゼンチンでもあった「12月１日」のFMサウンドボード録音。ここで熱心なコレクター野方なら「あぁ『ARGENTHANASIA ’94』か」と思われるかも知れませんが、そうではありません。あの伝統ブートレッグは「12月１日」として知られてきましたが、実は３公演目「12月３日」だったのです。なぜ別日と判明したかと言えば、「真の12月１日」が発掘されたから。それが、本作のDISC 1なのです。
既発をご存じない方にはサッパリな話になってしまいましたが、それでも無問題。ぶっちゃけた話が「昔のブートレッグとは別公演」というだけの事で、本作自体が素晴らしいサウンドボードという事実に変わりはないのです。さすがにオフィシャル超越級の絶対盤『DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995+1997』には及ばずややワイルドなFM放送ですが、やはり「黄金の４人」の生演奏が脳髄に直接流し込まれる快感は絶大。南米にありがちなDJもなく、ド迫力の演奏を存分に楽しめる。しかも、本作は話題のネット源を更にブラッシュアップ。さすがに「Sweating Bullets」後半の劣化は直せませんが、全体的にヌケの良くなかった高音も心地よく伸びる最高号サウンドを実現しています。
しかも、そのサウンド以上に強烈なのがライヴそのもの。本稿に目を留められた方なら『DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995+1997』を体験済みでしょうから（まだの方は本作の事は忘れ、今すぐプレス超名盤をご用命ください！）比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。まず美味しいのが「This Was My Life」。MEGADETH一流の哀感メロディを湛えた隠れ名曲ですが、このツアーの中盤でセット落ち。次に復活するのは2012年の『COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION』再現ツアーでした。あの盛大にキーを落としたバージョンではせっかくの哀感が削がれてしまいましたが、本作では「黄金４人」の生演奏で楽しめるのです。そして、それ以上の激レア曲が「Victory」。『YOUTHANASIA』のハイライトであり、歴代レパートリーの曲名を盛り込んだ集大成的名曲なのですが、ライヴ演奏されたのは当時のみ。しかも、指折り数えられる程度の回数で、ブエノスアイレス５公演でも初日だけ。このディスクは、そんな激レアな名曲まで楽しめるサウンドボード・アルバムなのです。

【DISC 2：「黄金の４人」が見られる超・貴重な長尺プロショット】
代わってのDISC 2は翌「12月２日」のマルチカメラ・プロショット。DISC 1がFM放送だったのに対し、本作はTV放送プロショットです。こちらは以前から知られている映像ですが、ごく最近公開されたベスト・マスターからDVD化されています。
もちろん、時代柄アナログ画質ではあるのですが、驚きなのはマスター鮮度。「90年代の南米プロショット」というとゴワゴワでも当たり前なイメージですが、本作はまったく違う。滑らか・艶やかな画質にはダビング痕がほとんど見られず、白線ノイズやテープヨレも見当たらない。「南米プロショット」のイメージそのものまで覆してしまう映像美なのです。むしろ、画質以上に南米っぽさを感じるのはカメラワークでしょうか。カメラ台数もスイッチングも申し分なく、一見欧米放送と大差ないように感じますが、そのセンスが発展途上。各メンバーの大写しがやけに多く、逆に観客の姿はゼロ。斜め後方などちょっと変わった場所にカメラが設置されていたり、切り替えのフェイド処理がダサかったり。まだまだロック慣れしていない撮影ぶりが微笑ましかったりするのです。
そうは言っても「黄金４人」のプロショットは極めて貴重。もちろん、細かいTV放送などはかなり残されているのですが、80分クラスの長尺映像となると『CLARKSTON 1995（Shades 748）』と本作しかないのです（セット的にはDISC 1から「Victory」を抜いたスタイルです）。

四半世紀を超えて発掘された激レア曲入りサウンドボードと、長尺ぶりが激レアなプロショットの決定盤セットです。オフィシャルではまったく足りない「マーティ・フリードマン／ニック・メンザ時代」。本作は、丸２公演でその乾きを癒してくれる絶対の２枚組です。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分にお楽しみください。
