MEGADETH in 2007 came to Japan for the third consecutive year since the revival. The original recording that conveys the scene is a new excavation.
The performance of “November 6, 2007: Osaka Kosei Nenkin Kaikan” is imbued in this work. It is the first appearance audience recording. Speaking of coming to Japan in 2007, we are familiar with the masterpiece “TOKYO 2007 1ST NIGHT (Shades 884)”. First of all, let’s check the positional relationship of each on the schedule at that time.

A total of 6 performances. Most of them are concentrated in the Kanto region, and the previous work “TOKYO 2007 1ST NIGHT” was the first day of Lee. On the other hand, this work is a local performance, and the final day of the opposite. It was also the last live in Japan of Glenn Drover, who would withdraw the following year. Glen aside, this position is surprisingly important. The Tokyo performance on this tour was a short set because BREED77 was attached to the support, but in Osaka I enjoyed a full set alone. Let’s organize the set in comparison with the previous work “TOKYO 2007 1ST NIGHT” here in order to understand its fulfillment.

… and it looks like this. “TOKYO 2007 1ST NIGHT” was also a 2-disc set of about 93 minutes, but in Osaka, 4 songs were added in the latter half of the show. It is a full set that is about 15 minutes long. Especially the point is “Burnt Ice”. In the first place, the “UNITED ABOMINATIONS” number itself is a collection of precious songs that can not be expected now, but “Burnt Ice” was a very early performance that Nakano Sunplaza premiered worldwide.
And the sound that spells out such a full show is also nice. It is never the type to be mistaken for a sound board, and it cannot be denied that the peak is clogged with a limiter. On the other hand, it is also a powerful recording with such a strong core that is approaching, and thanks to the rushing power that ignores the hall noise, the details are transmitted firmly. You can clearly hear Mustaine’s Japanese MC “Supreme Daze!”
The masterpieces of “THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED” and “UNITED ABOMINATIONS” gradually disappeared from the set and have now become valuable. Although it was no longer possible, it was full of rampaging riffs that could only be written by genius songwriter Dave Mustaine. This work is a live album where you can experience the full set of such famous songs. Evidence of the era that I want you to look back on now. New excavation here.

★ Recording of the first appearance of the audience at the “November 6, 2007: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall” performance. 復活劇から３年連続で来日を果たした2007年のMEGADETH。その現場を伝えるオリジナル録音が新発掘です。
そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「2007年11月６日：大阪厚生年金会館」公演。その初登場オーディエンス録音です。2007年の来日と言えば、当店では傑作『TOKYO 2007 1ST NIGHT（Shades 884）』もお馴染み。まずは、当時の日程でそれぞれの位置関係を確認してみましょう。

以上、全６公演。大半が関東圏に集中しており、前作『TOKYO 2007 1ST NIGHT』はイの一番となる初日でした。それに対して本作は地方公演であり、しかも真反対の最終日。翌年には脱退してしまうグレン・ドローヴァー最後のライヴ・イン・ジャパンでもありました。グレンはさておいたとしても、このポジションは意外と重要。このツアーでの東京公演ではBREED77がサポートに付いた事もあってかショート・セットでしたが、大阪では単独フルセットが楽しめたのです。その充実ぶりをご理解いただくためにも、ここで前作『TOKYO 2007 1ST NIGHT』との比較でセットを整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『TOKYO 2007 1ST NIGHT』も約93分の２枚組ではありましたが、大阪ではショウ後半に４曲も追加。約15分も長いフルセットなのです。特にポイントなのが「Burnt Ice」。そもそも『UNITED ABOMINATIONS』ナンバー自体が今では望めない貴重曲揃いなのですが、「Burnt Ice」は中野サンプラザが全世界初演という極初期パフォーマンスでした。
そして、そんなフルショウを綴るサウンドもイイ感じ。決してサウンドボードと間違えるタイプではありませんし、ピークにリミッターがかかったような詰まり感も否めない。その一方でそれほどまでに力強い芯がグイグイと迫ってくるパワフル録音でもあり、ホール鳴りをものともしない突進力のお陰でディテールもしっかりと伝わる。ムステインの日本語MC「最高ダゼ！」もくっきりハッキリ聴けます。
徐々にセットから姿を消してゆき、今では貴重になってしまった『THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED』『UNITED ABOMINATIONS』の名曲たち。もはや望めなくなってしまったものの、天才ソングライター：デイヴ・ムステインでしか書けないリフが暴れまくるナンバーばかりでした。本作は、そんな名曲が輝きまくるフルセットを現場体験できるライヴアルバムです。今だからこそ振り返っていただきたい時代の証拠品。ここに新発掘です。
