McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP in 1992, which was acoustic on the tour while producing the 3rd album “M.S.G.”, a hidden masterpiece of beautiful melody. A masterpiece set that allows you to experience the scene realistically is now available.
This work contains two performances. It is a 2-disc set of audiences with DISC 1 for the superb view shot of “March 14, 1992 Irvington performance” and DISC 2 for the superb recording of “West Hollywood performance on March 26, 1992”. At that time, Michael was active in extracurricular activities such as participating in RATT tours as a substitute for CONTRABAND and Robin Crosby in addition to his main job MSG. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s take a look back at the end of the McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP’s activities, which are often overlooked.

This is Michael Schenker in 1991/1992. In the summer of 1991, while completing “M.S.G.”, the release was postponed in favor of an extracurricular tour. In the meantime, the group disbanded because there was no way they could maintain the rhythm troupe without any work. When the album will be released in December, the management will propose an acoustic promotional tour. Although he had begun to lean towards acoustics when performing with RATT, it seems that the reality was that “it was the only thing he could do.”
In any case, they started a promo tour before and after the album release (you can enjoy it with our professional shot gifts “ACOUSTIC EVENING IN FRANKFURT” and “ACOUSTIC GIG IN JAPAN 1991”). When I saw it for the first time, Michael surprisingly liked Unplugged, and in 1992, the mini tour “North America # 2” was also realized. This “North America # 2” has not only this work but also the official video ““UNPLUGGED” LIVE”, so let’s focus on the schedule further and check the positional relationship with this work.
● Details of “North America #2”
・February 4-28 (3 performances)
・February 29 “CHICAGO TAPES 1988-1992”
・ March 2-12 (6 performances)
・March 14: Irvington performance ←★This work DISC 1★
・ March 20: Portland performance
・ March 25: Official “UNPLUGGED” LIVE
・March 26: West Hollywood performance ←★This work DISC 2★
・ April 18-May 2 (4 performances)
The video was released recently, but it’s almost ferocious. I know it’s not the front row because the head of the front row is reflected in the edge of the screen, but it’s probably the second row. It’s so close that Michael’s hands and Robin’s facial expressions are so close that they come out of the screen. In particular, Michael’s right hand is frightening because the strings that vibrate by picking can be seen firmly. In the first place, it’s a small acoustic gig in a box, and I don’t remember a video that makes me feel like I’m going to touch it if I stretch out my hand. Moreover, the master freshness is top class. There are no dubbing marks or aging marks, and that is what you can see in front of you with a “naked eye sensation”.
It’s a pity that it’s an incomplete recording, even though it’s such a close-knit feeling. It ends around the intro of “Doctor Doctor”. [DISC 2: Extra-thick, glossy, first-class live album] DISC 2 wipes away the frustration of such videos. It is a superb audience recording of the West Hollywood performance, which is the 14th performance of “North America # 2”.
You can enjoy “Doctor Doctor” and “Lights Out” that you couldn’t listen to on DISC 1, but what’s more than that is the sound quality that runs through the whole story. The sound of DISC 1 was also a masterpiece, but this work is a transcendental class that surpasses it. You won’t mistake it for a sound board because the applause will be up close between songs, but the essential performance sound and vocals are official grade … no, more real than the official “UNPLUGGED” LIVE, which produced thickness with effects. It’s easy to listen to.
This recording is also a master that has recently appeared, but this work updates its highest peak. Although the sound quality of the net sound source is good, the pitch is unreasonable. It was so exciting that I didn’t even know who Robin’s voice was. Of course, this work is just and stable. What’s more, the parts that were duplicated here and there were seamlessly arranged, and the degree of perfection as a musical work was raised to the utmost.
Unplugged with a unique long tone sealed and limited crying chalking. That’s why Michael was trying to express the pathos in the “melody” itself. And by eliminating all decorations, Robin’s Irish voice also has a deep emotion. Unfortunately, the official work “UNPLUGGED” LIVE was not able to capture the simple beauty due to excessive effect processing. This work allows you to fully enjoy the “original beauty” due to the natural feeling of the scene.
The era of grunge/alternative heyday killed pop, and they were forced to disband. On the other hand, it was precisely because they had no choice but to abandon pop that they were able to master their original “sadness.” A 2-disc set where you can enjoy such a melancholy melody with a private feeling. Please take this opportunity to fully experience the best quality.
★ Audience 2-disc set with DISC 1 for the spectacular shot of “March 14, 1992 Irvington performance” and DISC 2 for the finest recording of “March 26, 1992 West Hollywood performance”. The Irvington video (DISC 1) has a tremendous feeling of close contact from the second row, and you can see the strings vibrating with Michael’s picking. The West Hollywood recording (DISC 2) has the best sound of official grade, but the reality and private feeling are more than that. It is a superb set that allows you to fully enjoy the original beauty of the painting because of the natural feeling of the scene.
