The 11th Japan tour is finally approaching. The highlight of this time is probably the complete reproduction live (first in the world) of “ESCAPE” and “FRONTIERS” scheduled at Nippon Budokan. A professional shot that raises expectations for such a monument concert is a gift release decision.
This work contains “March 2, 1983: Nippon Budokan performance”. This is a TV image containing the nostalgic music program “Young Music Show” broadcast by a certain public broadcasting station. It is a famous video from old times, but let’s check it again from the tour schedule.

In this way, the performance in Japan in 1983 started on the day of the release of “FRONTIERS”. It was the first kick-off tour in the world. The performance of this work at Nippon Budokan is the 7th performance out of 8 performances. This live was also broadcast on the radio, but there was also a 50-minute TV broadcast on Saturday evening. This work uses the original master of “AT BUDOKAN”, which was very popular on the MASTERPORT label released in 2003. Originally, the decision master, which is a big standard, was further adjusted and mastered to make it a definitive version.
Such a nostalgic program shines even more now. All 22 songs are played on the day, and 11 songs, which is half of that, are recorded in this work, but the selection is wonderful. There is also “Any Way You Want It” in “DEPARTURE”, but the others
Half of the 10 songs of “ESCAPE” and “FRONTIERS” are selected, 5 songs each, and they are solidified with delicious hit songs. It’s like a digest of the performance in Japan in advance. And the site is exactly Nippon Budokan. From the first song “Chain Reaction” to the back of the Budokan stage, you can see how popular it was at the time, but this scene will come back in February, 34 years later.
Of course, even if it was the same place and the same song, this work was in its heyday 34 years ago. Steve Perry stands at the front, with all members wearing colorful costumes during the heyday of MTV. The people who created the daimyo board will spring up the Nippon Budokan with the band potential as it is. In addition, the video effects added by the broadcasting station and the Japanese translation of the lyrics (not all songs) are also full of time. Not only those who actually visited Nippon Budokan, but also those who were staring at the CRT on Saturday evening, it is a professional shot image that smells the air of those days.

It’s been 34 years since then, and in 2017, the day will come when you can experience the entire “ESCAPE” and “FRONTIERS” live. It’s almost time to travel back in time in this octagonal space. いよいよ間近に迫ってきた11度目のジャパンツアー。今回の目玉は、何と言っても日本武道館で予定されている『ESCAPE』『FRONTIERS』の完全再現ライヴ（全世界初）ではないでしょうか。そんな記念碑コンサートの期待を高めるプロショットがギフト・リリース決定です。
本作に収められているのは「1983年３月２日：日本武道館公演」。某公共放送局が放送していた懐かしの音楽番組“ヤング・ミュージック・ショー”を収めたテレビ映像です。古くからの有名映像ですが、今一度ツアー日程から確認してみましょう。

このように、1983年の来日公演は『FRONTIERS』の発売日当日からスタート。世界に先駆けてのキックオフツアーでした。本作の日本武道館公演は、全８公演中７公演目にあたるコンサート。このライヴはラジオでも放送されましたが、土曜夕方には50分枠のテレビ放送もあったわけです。本作は、2003年にリリースされたMASTERPORTレーベルで大人気を博した『AT BUDOKAN』の大元マスターを使用。もともと大定番を張る決定マスターにさらに映像の調整やマスタリングを施し、決定版仕様に仕上げたものです。
そんな懐かしの番組は、今だからこそ更に輝く。当日は全22曲を演奏しており、本作ではその半分の11曲を収録しているのですが、そのセレクトが素晴らしい。『DEPARTURE』の「Any Way You Want It」もありますが、他は
『ESCAPE』『FRONTIERS』それぞれ全10曲中の半分５曲ずつが選ばれ、美味しいヒット曲でガッチリ固めている。今回の来日公演を先取りダイジェストするかのような濃縮ぶりなのです。そして、その現場もまさに日本武道館。１曲目の「Chain Reaction」から武道館ステージの裏までギッシリと観客が詰めかけた光景に当時の人気ぶりがうかがえますが、この光景が34年後のちょうど２月に蘇るのです。
もちろん、同じ場所、同じ曲ではあっても、本作は34年前の大全盛期。MTVも全盛な時期でメンバー全員がカラフルな衣装を身にまとい、フロントに立つのはスティーヴ・ペリー。大名盤を創り上げた当人たちが、バンド・ポテンシャルもそのままに日本武道館を湧かしまくるのです。また、放送局が加えた映像エフェクトや歌詞の日本語対訳（全曲ではありません）も時代感たっぷり。実際に日本武道館へ足を運ばれた方はもちろん、土曜の夕方にブラウン管を見つめていた方にも、あの頃の空気が匂い立つプロショット映像なのです。

あれから34年、まさか2017年に『ESCAPE』『FRONTIERS』全編を生体験できる日が来るとは。この八角形の空間でタイムスリップするまで、あと少し。当日はもちろんですが、カウントダウンに入ったこの瞬間もすでに記念碑コンサートの一部なのです。そんな“今”を味わい尽くす大傑作プロショット。今週末、あなたのお手元にお届けいたします。
