On the CONCERT VAULT site, the sound source for three days was released from the PA out sound board that recorded the stage of Jeff Beck in May 1975, but “THIS BLOWS” in 2007, “DEFINITIVE BLOW” in 2016 ] St. Louis on May 11th was not included in the selection at the time of each release. The cause was that cuts had occurred in several songs including the opening “Constipated Duck”. Apart from this problem, the content of the performance was very wonderful, so even if it did not come true in 2007, it was omitted until the release in 2016. I didn’t.
Unfortunately, there was no audience recording on this day, and it was a big factor that there was nothing we could do about this problem. Another reason why the release was postponed at that time was that from Max Middleton’s solo to “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers”, there were frequent twists that were thought to be caused by the deterioration of the cassette over time. As soon as his solo starts when I actually listen to it, I’m worried about this instability, and it becomes more noticeable when it moves to “Cause We’ve~”. After all, the trouble that occurred in the performance of the famous song was also big. Still, at the time of 2016, multiple items that bravely coupled all three performances were released from other labels, but when “DEFINITIVE BLOW” was released, we decided to release it as a smart two-disc set, and as a result The title became a bestseller.
More than five years have passed since the release of such a masterpiece, and now the technology has advanced enough to restore even such troubles. And when it comes to restoring the sound source, “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, who has no one to go to the right, faced this problem, and the twist that was a major stress on listening to the St. Louis sound source was adjusted to a wonderful extent. is. For those who do not have past items, the recording of this day was in a normal state from the beginning? It has been restored so naturally that it seems to be an illusion. If it comes with “Cause We’ve ~”, the results stand out even more.
In addition, just like the other two days, St. Louis was a dilemma because I couldn’t get rid of the feeling of the cymbals fizzing out in all the past items, but this time I will record again from the latest distribution. resolved at once. Regarding this day, the unnaturalness was remarkable in the scene where Bernard Purdy’s cymbals flew at the ending of “She’s A Woman”, but it was also wiped out. With this, you can feel the upper feeling that you can listen to with headphones as well as the speakers.
And it was a great attraction of these sound sources that Beck’s play was completely different for each of the three days, but on this day the reaction of the audience was tremendous, and I was very happy that Beck who made me feel better played it smoothly. The atmosphere is pervasive throughout. His play is actually full of leeway, yet smooth. Therefore, the play of the sorrowful repertoire stands out on this day, and “Definitely Maybe” incorporates phrases that make you feel playful everywhere, and Beck smiles at the audience in St. Louis who was very enthusiastic about this performance. even captured.
On the contrary, when “Air Blower” ended, Beck said, “Everyone in Missouri is the best! Hahaha!” The person who started the Detroit stage two days ago in anger will change this. Isn’t this the scene that can be said to be the face of Beck in the whimsical 70’s?
St. Louis, which was literally a happy sound board wrapped in such a happy atmosphere and the most difficult part of sound source restoration, was finally reborn into the best form by the precise adjustment of “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. Maniacs who were frustrated when “DEFINITIVE BLOW” was released will finally be able to drink less. Such a Beck 75 sound board third sound source is also fully prepared and the definitive edition is now available!
