The champion IRON MAIDEN who finally completed the European leg of “LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour” and conquered the European summer festival. Two of the best live albums that will be the latest report are now available.
This work is the second of two series that will be released at the same time this week. This is an excellent audience recording of “July 10, 2022 Wiener Neustadt performance”. This is the 2022 “LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour”. The tour, which resumed for the first time in 2 years and 7 months with the new Corona Pandemic in between, swept Europe. Even in the summer festival, which is said to have gathered metal bands from all over the world, he has a strong presence. The process spanned 29 performances, but the Wiener Neustadt performance of this work was the 21st concert that entered the final stage.
This work recorded at such a show is wonderfully clear and clear. The scene was the stadium, which was the home of the local soccer team “Wiener Neustadt SC”, and a special stage was set up in the open space. The atmosphere is similar to the WACKEN festival in Germany, and the sound of zero reverberation roars in a space without walls or ceilings. Therefore, there is no cloudiness or turbidity that hides the details, and the core is as bright as a straight laser beam. Perhaps it wasn’t the latest PA, the deep bass is a little thin, but the playing sound and singing voice that stretches into the empty sky are not only clear, but also a lot of openness.
Also, the feeling of openness creates a mood like a summer festival. This work has few choruses and cheers around, but if you listen carefully with headphones, you can see that it also sucks in conversational voice. And the mood is more enjoyable than enthusiastic. Even in the big chorus of “Fear of the Dark”, hot air is not blown out, but rather it is as if each person has a one-on-one conversation with Bruce Dickinson. This area is very symmetrical to the burning sensation of the simultaneous release “BERLIN 2022”.

これが2022年の“LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour”。新型コロナ・パンデミックを挟んで２年７ヶ月ぶりに再開したツアーは欧州を席巻。世界中のメタル・バンドが集まったと言われる夏フェスの中でも堂々主役を張る存在感を振りまきました。その行程は29公演に及んだわけですが、本作のウィーナー・ノイシュタット公演は終盤に入った21公演目のコンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録された本作は、胸をすくクリアさが素晴らしい。現場となったのは地元サッカーチーム“ウィーナー・ノイシュタットSC”のホームだったスタジアムで、オープンスペースに特設ステージが設けられたスタイル。その雰囲気はドイツのWACKENフェスにも似ており、壁や天井のない空間に反響ゼロの出音が轟くのです。そのため、ディテールを隠す曇りや濁りが一切起こらず、芯も真っ直ぐレーザー光線のように鮮やか。ＰＡの直近というわけでもなかったのか、重低音がやや薄めではありますが、何もない天空へ伸びていくような演奏音と歌声はクリアなだけでなく、開放感もたっぷりなのです。
また、その開放感が夏祭りのようなムードも醸し出している。本作は周囲の合唱や声援は少ない方なのですが、ヘッドフォンで耳を澄ますと会話声も吸い込んでいるのが分かる。そして、そのムードは熱狂というよりは和やかに愉しんでいる感じ。「Fear of the Dark」の大合唱でも熱風が吹き出すと言うよりは、１人ひとりがブルース・ディッキンソンと１対１で会話するような大らかさがある。この辺が同時リリースの『BERLIN 2022』の灼熱感とは非常に対称的だったりもします。
そんなクリア・サウンドで描かれるのは、2022年版“LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour”のフルショウ。すでにお馴染みとも思いますが、今一度その内容も整理しておきましょう。
