“The 1st of August 2019: Mansfield performance” is engraved in this work. It is a superb audience recording that fully records the whole story. Speaking of “LEGACY OF THE BEAST TOUR”, we visited Europe last year and traversed the Americas this year. The whole picture will be handed over to the explanation of “ATLANTA 2019 (Shades 1077)” released at the same time this week, so let’s organize the collection of ongoing North American tours by date.

This is the 2019 schedule. Currently in the midst of the North American tour, only the end of the 35 performances are listed in detail. This work is the third report of the latest tour, and Mansfield is the 8th performance.
This work, which recorded such a show, is truly super quality with “super”! The length of recording from the opening movie time “Legacy Intro.” Added in 2019 to the theme of Monty Python after the end of the performance is also missing, but beyond that the sound itself penetrates the whole story. Recordings are coming out one after another in 2019. Among them, it is a recording that boasts the sound of preeminent and is said to be “No.1 in North America as it is” among the world enthusiasts. In fact, its core is full of direct feeling and powerful. Left and right stereo sense and balance from high to low frequencies … There is no way to complain at every point. It is a name recording while recording a tremendous name to go on a “sound board” on the ground.
In addition to the performance sound, this work has a great audience presence. In fact, there are no other “soundboard-like” recordings that appear every day, but all such recordings have been picked up to a close. The IRON MAIDEN show is a great chorus of spectators, and “LEGACY OF THE BEAST TOUR” is a super-greatest hits starting with “Aces High”. More than usual, the audience is astounded and it is not uncommon for the taper to be able to stand up and speak up. However, this work is a valuable exception. Although this work is also like an audience, it absorbs a vast and realistic enthusiast (the tweet “Oh, my god !!”, which I noticed in the intro of “Flight Of Icarus”, it feels good: lol), but it is only “subordinate”. A powerful excitement follows the performance sound and singing voice as the “main”, and there is no immediate screaming. The balance with the thick performance sound is extremely impressive, and only the ideal spectacle is drawn.
Furthermore, this work is also powerful! “STOCKHOLM 2018 (Shades 927)” became extremely popular when it expanded its range until last year, but that super masterpiece was the 4th performance in the first part of the tour. Whether the engine wasn’t warmed up, or wasn’t used to the show progress using a lot of props / props, mistakes were coming out from end to end. On the other hand, the Mansfield performance of this work is more than enough with the same set as last year. And the timing of the 8th performance is also exquisite. Steve Harris has always said that “if you have 5 performances until you get used to the tour, it ’s enough”, and this work has just been fully opened. The triple hammering does not hesitate, and Nico McBrain’s geometric drumming is also determined. Of course, Commander Harris’s gallop base is also doing well. In fact, Bruce Dickinson seems to suffer a little with “Flight Of Icarus”, but it is also demodulated immediately. The rust of the last difficult song “Run To The Hills” gives you a stunning high that you can’t even expect in the 80’s. With such an ensemble of iron walls, you run through the Super Greatest Hits that embodies the ideal of MAIDEN.
Tour No.1’s superb sound that is also rumored, the length of the complete recording from the SE that announces the start to the end, the ideal audience spectacle, the performance of the iron wall, and the strongest Greatest set list in the history of MAIDEN … This is the strongest live album. I want the sound board album of “LEGACY OF THE BEAST TOUR” that has not been realized yet, but there is this work even if it does not happen. A great masterpiece that is so great. そんな本作に刻まれているのは「2019年８月１日：マンスフィールド公演」。その一部始終を完全収録した超絶級オーディエンス録音です。“LEGACY OF THE BEAST TOUR”と言えば、昨年はヨーロッパ諸国を巡り、今年は南北アメリカ大陸を縦断。その全体像は今週同時リリースの『ATLANTA 2019（Shades 1077）』の解説に譲るとして、ここでは現在進行中の北米ツアーのコレクションを日程で整理しておきましょう。

これが2019年のスケジュール。現在は北米ツアーの真っ最中ですが、全35公演のうち終了分のみ詳細に掲載しました。本作は最新ツアーのレポート第３弾であり、マンスフィールドはその８公演目にあたります。
そんなショウを記録した本作は、まさに「超」の付く極上クオリティ！ 2019年になって追加された開演ムービー・タイム「Legacy Intro.」から終演後のモンティ・パイソンのテーマまで収録した長さもズバ抜けていますが、それ以上なのが全編を貫くサウンドそのもの。2019年も次から次へと録音が登場しているのですが、その中でもバツグンのサウンドを誇り、世界のマニア間で「このまま北米No.1になるかも」と囁かれている録音なのです。実際、その芯はダイレクト感たっぷりで力強く、ディテールも詳細なら鳴りも繊細。左右のステレオ感や高音から低音までのバランス……あらゆるポイントで文句の付けようがない。まさに「まるでサウンドボード」を地で行く凄まじい名録音中の名録音なのです。
それほどの演奏音に加え、本作はオーディエンスの存在感までもが素晴らしい。実のところ、連日登場する録音の中には「サウンドボードっぽい」ものは他にもなくはないのですが、そうした録音はことごとく間近声まで大きく拾っている。IRON MAIDENのショウは観客の大合唱が巻き起こるものですし、“LEGACY OF THE BEAST TOUR”は「Aces High」から始まる超グレイテスト・ヒッツ。普段以上に観客は驚喜乱舞ですし、テーパー自身が耐えきれずに声を上げてしまう事も珍しくないのです。しかし、本作はその貴重な例外。本作もオーディエンスらしく広大でリアルな熱狂を吸い込んではいる（「Flight Of Icarus」のイントロに気づいたつぶやき“Oh, my god!!”、その気持ちよく分かる：笑）ものの、それはあくまでも「従」。強力な盛り上がりも「主」たる演奏音と歌声に付き従い、興を削ぐ間近な絶叫が入ってこない。図太い演奏音とのバランスが極めて見事で、ただひたすらに理想的なスペクタクルだけを描き出しているのです。
さらにさらに、本作は演奏も強力！ 昨年まで範囲を広げると『STOCKHOLM 2018（Shades 927）』が超絶級サウンドで大人気となりましたが、あの超傑作はツアー序盤の４公演目だったせいか肝心の演奏が今ひとつだった。エンジンが暖まっていなかったのか、数々の小道具・大道具を駆使したショウ進行に慣れていなかったのか、端々でミスが続出していました。それに対し、本作のマンスフィールド公演では昨年と同一セットで練度は十二分。そして、８公演目というタイミングも絶妙。スティーヴ・ハリスは常々「ツアーに慣れるまでは５公演もあれば十分」と言っており、本作はまさにエンジン全開になったばかり。トリプルのハモりは淀みなく、ニコ・マクブレインの幾何学的なドラミングもビッシビシ決まる。もちろん、司令塔ハリスのギャロップ・ベースも絶好調です。実のところ、ブルース・ディッキンソンは「Flight Of Icarus」で少々苦しそうになるのですが、それもすぐに復調。ラストの難曲「Run To The Hills」のサビでは80年代でも望めないような見事なハイを轟かせてくれる。そんな鉄壁のアンサンブルでMAIDENの理想を体現する超グレイテスト・ヒッツを駆け抜けるのです。
ツアーNo.1も噂される超極上のサウンド、開演を告げるSEから終演まで完全収録した長さ、理想的な観客スペクタクル、鉄壁の演奏、そしてMAIDEN史上最強のグレイテストなセットリスト……。まさに最強のライヴアルバムです。未だ実現していない“LEGACY OF THE BEAST TOUR”のサウンドボード・アルバムも欲しくて仕方ありませんが、もし実現しなかったとしても本作がある。それほどまでに素晴らしい大傑作。鋼鉄音楽の理想郷、どうぞ本作で噛みしめるように味わい尽くしてください。UP THE IRONS!!
