HELLOWEEN & GAMMA RAY’s coupling tour “HELLISH ROCK”, which became the supreme melodic power metal and later became a guidepost to PUMPKIN UNITED. Two original recordings that convey the performance in Japan will be released at the same time! It is a sister work that allows you to fully experience live in Japan twice in the same recorder collection !!
The performance of “HELLISH ROCK” in Japan was realized in 2008 and 2013, but this work is a live album recorded on the second visit to Japan. This is the best audience recording of “June 9, 2013: Matsushita IMP Hall Performance”. As with the commentary on our sister work “OSAKA 2008 (Shades 1407)”, let’s look back at the two episodes of 2008/2013 and confirm the position.

Above, all 11 performances. It was a strange schedule that there were no concerts in Higashi-Meihan twice. Anyway, this work recorded in “The Second Osaka” is just the best sound. Like the sister work “OSAKA 2008”, it is a work of “Mr. Taper, the strongest in western Japan”, but in terms of quality, this work is one better. As of 2008, I was able to fully enjoy the direct feeling of the “strongest” mark, but at the same time it was still developing. However, this work was five years later, and the “strongest sound” was rapidly completed. Its growth is reflected in its stability and beauty. The band’s sound image is stable and stable, while retaining the beauty of Mr. “Strongest”, such as the close contact of the core with no distance and the magical mood that does not have a close voice even if the magnificent chorus spectacle is inhaled. Does not cause an overpeak even if it is strummed with full power. The contours of the rushing riffs and the bass drums are sharp, and the phrases that go up in the sky grow beautifully. On the other hand, the synth that is slightly covered can be felt finely, and even if the big chorus boils, the glossy balance does not make a slight movement. The “strongest sound” that is familiar to the present age has been established.
And what is more delicious than that sound is the full show of both males, which has changed from 2008. Normally, I would refer to the official live board or the representative sound board, but this time it is a real pleasure to compare the listening of the confrontation tour, so let’s organize the set while comparing it with the sister work.

… And it looks like this. I usually put a mark on rare songs that I can’t listen to anywhere else, but this time it’s the opposite. I put a “*” mark on the song that is doubled as the sister work “OSAKA 2008”. In other words, while playing such a huge number of songs, only the five classic songs that can never be removed are duplicated. This work and “OSAKA 2008” are not only listening to two “HELLISH ROCK” in the same recorder collection, but also a treasure trove of huge masterpieces.
Moreover, it is valuable compared to the official live album. GAMMA RAY recently had “SKELETONS & MAJESTIES LIVE”, but you can’t hear the new songs “Master Of Confusion”, “Empire Of The Undead”, “Empathy”, “To The Metal” there either. Even in the HELLOWEEN version, you can enjoy plenty of numbers not found in “THE LEGACY WORLD TOUR 2005/2006” such as new songs and early medleys of “STRAIGHT OUT OF HELL”, “I’m Alive” and “Are You Metal?” ..
A set full of superb direct sounds and rare songs, a performance that sharpens the hoes because it is a confrontation tour, and a fun co-star encore. It is a masterpiece live album that is absolutely inevitable at every point. And, by combining with “OSAKA 2008”, you can observe two coupling tours at a fixed point. A sister work that is rare in the world. Please enjoy the set as much as you can!
★ The second sister work of the coupling tour HELLISH ROCK. This is the best audience recording of “June 9, 2013: Matsushita IMP Hall Performance”. “HELLISH ROCK”の来日公演は2008年と2013年に実現したわけですが、本作は二度目の来日で記録されたライヴアルバム。「2013年６月９日：松下IMPホール公演」の極上オーディエンス録音です。姉妹作『OSAKA 2008（Shades 1407）』の解説と同じく、ここでも2008年／2013年の２回分をまとめて振り返ってポジションを確かめてみましょう。

以上、全11公演。二度とも東名阪でコンサートが行われつつ、同会場がないというちょっと変わった日程でもありました。ともあれ、「二度目の大阪」で記録された本作はまさに極上サウンド。姉妹作『OSAKA 2008』と同じく“西日本最強テーパー氏”の作品なのですが、クオリティ面では本作の方が一枚上手。2008年時点でも“最強”印のダイレクト感はたっぷりと味わえたわけですが、同時に発展途上でもあった。しかし、本作はその５年後であり、“最強サウンド”が急速に完成されてきたのです。その成長度は安定感と美しさに表れている。距離のない芯の密着感や、盛大な合唱スペクタクルは吸い込んでいても周囲に間近声のないマジカルなムードなど、“最強”氏の美点はそのままに音像がビシッと安定して揺るがず、バンドは全力でかき鳴らしてもオーバーピークを起こさない。疾駆するリフもバスドラの連打も１粒１粒まで輪郭がくっきりとしており、天翔るフレーズも綺麗に伸びる。その一方でささやかに被せられるシンセも細やかに感じ取れ、大合唱が沸騰しても艶やかなバランスが微動だにしない。まさに現代に通じる“最強氏サウンド”が確立しているのです。
そして、そのサウンド以上に美味しいのが2008年とは様変わりした両雄のフルショウ。普通なら公式ライヴ盤か代表サウンドボードを引き合いにするところですが、今回は対決ツアーの聴き比べも醍醐味ですので姉妹作と比較しながらセットを整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。普段であれば、他では聴けないレア曲に印を入れていますが、今回は逆。姉妹作『OSAKA 2008』とダブっている曲に「＊」印を入れました。つまり、これだけ膨大な曲数を演奏しつつ、ダブっているのは絶対に外せないド定番の５曲のみ。本作と『OSAKA 2008』は、単に２つの“HELLISH ROCK”を同録音家コレクションで聴けるだけでなく、膨大な名曲の宝庫でもあるのです。
しかも、公式ライヴアルバムと比較しても貴重。GAMMA RAYは直近に『SKELETONS & MAJESTIES LIVE』もありましたが、新曲「Master Of Confusion」「Empire Of The Undead」や「Empathy」「To The Metal」といったナンバーはそこでも聴けない。HELLOWEEN篇にしても『STRAIGHT OUT OF HELL』の新曲群や初期メドレー、「I’m Alive」「Are You Metal?」等々、『THE LEGACY WORLD TOUR 2005/2006』にないナンバーがたっぷりと楽しめるのです。
