HELLOWEEN in 2016 was the last shining band of 5 members on the verge of entering the reunion “PUMPKINS UNITED” of the century. A new excavation original recording of the performance in Japan accompanied by AMARANTHE is now available.
The performance of “September 26, 2016: EX THEATER Roppongi” was imbued with this work. It is a superb audience recording that completely recorded the whole night including the opening AMARANTHE. Speaking of coming to Japan in 2016, we reported “OSAKA 2016 (Shades 685)” in real time, but of course this work is a separate performance. First, let’s look back on the schedule at that time and look back on the position of the show.

Above, all 5 performances. At that time, it was talked about that the schedule was postponed due to the appendicitis of Daniel Löble, but now there is something more important. Actually, this performance in Japan was the final schedule of “MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT Tour”. After that, HELLOWEEN was a reunion with Michael Kiske and the founder Kai Hansen, and the next time he appeared publicly, it was a 7-member “PUMPKINS UNITED”. In other words, the 2016 performance in Japan is the final destination of the “5-member band HELLOWEEN”. The Roppongi performance of this work was a historic turning point, the penultimate performance.
This work recorded at such a site is a famous recording that depicts the “best” in a picture. The work was done by the well-known master “West Japan’s strongest taper” in our shop, and it is also a collection of recorders that is a sister work of “OSAKA 2016” mentioned above. At that time, it seemed that “OSAKA 2016”, which also served as breaking news, was enough, but the Tokyo performance has become a treasured item, but this is also a wasteful business to sink into the darkness of history. In fact, as good as “OSAKA 2016”, the extra-thick core jumps directly into your ears, giving you a great sense of close contact with no distance. Although it is extremely powerful, it does not vibrate even in Fortissimo, and its ultra-fine details are also clear. It’s like a “strongest sound” called “sound board” and “sound better than the field”.
Although I was able to fully enjoy the taste in “OSAKA 2016”, the individuality is slightly different because the venue is different. To put it simply, “OSAKA 2016” has excellent sharp edges and metallic luster, and this work is superior in thickness and dynamism. This depends on your taste, so you can’t decide the superiority or inferiority. “Both are the best sounds with the” strongest “mark” is the final answer.
The dynamic sound is drawn by a coupling show where old and new melodic groups line up. Roughly speaking, both bands are the same set as “OSAKA 2016”, but HELLOWEEN’s “strongest” collection is “OSAKA 2008 (Shades 1407)” “OSAKA 2011 (Shades 1420)” “OSAKA 2013 ( Shades 1410) ”and masterpieces are being fired. This time, let’s organize the set in comparison with them.

… And it looks like this. The new song from the final work “MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT” composed of 5 people is the theory of rice cakes, and “Before the War” and “Mr. Torture” are also good. Even though the above three series were also a masterpiece rush, I was reminded that “Is there still such a good song left?” And above all, the impression that “one era is over” is amazing. Of course, neither the audience nor the members at that time were aware of it, but now it has the weight of historical facts. Because it is a culmination set, it is also a live album that flashes back the memories of each era from each song.
After this work, the performance in Japan ended with the performance in Shinkiba, and at that time the “MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT Tour” ended, and the “five-person era” was put to an end. Currently, “7 HELLOWEEN” is fascinating metal people all over the world, but its splendor is not just “Keeper of the Seven Keys”. The final chapter of “Delice’s Five-Person Era”, which is the basis of the manuscript HELLOWEEN and is being called for re-evaluation. Please experience the best with this work!

世紀のリユニオン“PUMPKINS UNITED”に突入する寸前、５人編成バンドとして最後の輝きを放っていた2016年のHELLOWEEN。AMARANTHEを従えて行われた来日公演の新発掘オリジナル録音が登場です。
そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「2016年９月26日：EX THEATER六本木」公演。オープニングのAMARANTHEも含め、一夜を丸ごと完全収録した極上オーディエンス録音です。2016年の来日というと、当店では『OSAKA 2016（Shades 685）』をリアルタイム・レポートしましたが、もちろん本作は別公演。まずは当時のスケジュールを振り返り、ショウのポジションを振り返ってみましょう。

以上、全５公演。当時はダニ・ルブレの虫垂炎で日程が延期になった事が話題でもありましたが、現在ではもっと重要な事がある。実は、この来日公演は“MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT Tour”の最終日程となった。その後、HELLOWEENはマイクル・キスクと創始者カイ・ハンセンを迎えてリユニオン、次に公に姿を現した時には７人編成の“PUMPKINS UNITED”でした。つまり、2016年の来日公演は「５人バンドHELLOWEEN」の最終到達地。本作の六本木公演は、その最後から２公演目という歴史的ターニング・ポイントだったのです。
そんな現場で記録された本作は「極上」を画に描いたような名録音。手掛けたのは当店ではお馴染みの名手“西日本最強テーパー”氏でして、前述した『OSAKA 2016』の姉妹作となる録音家コレクションでもあるのです。当時は速報を兼ねた『OSAKA 2016』だけで十分と思われたのか東京公演は秘蔵となってきたわけですが、こちらも歴史の闇に沈めるにはもったいない業物。実際、『OSAKA 2016』にも勝るとも劣らず、極太の芯はダイレクトに耳に飛びこみ、距離のない密着感が絶大。極めてパワフルでありながらフォルテッシモでもビビる事なく、超微細なディテールも克明。「まるでサウンドボード」「現場より良い音」と呼ばれる“最強氏サウンド”の面目躍如なのです。
その旨みは『OSAKA 2016』でもたっぷり味わえましたが、会場が違うだけあって個性はやや異なる。カンタンに言いますと『OSAKA 2016』はシャープなエッジと金属光沢に優れ、本作は厚みとダイナミズムで勝っている。こればかりは好みによるので優劣が付けられない。「どちらも“最強”印の極上サウンド」がファイナル・アンサーです。
そんなダイナミック・サウンドで描かれるのは、新旧のメロディック派が並び立つカップリング・ショウ。ざっくばらんに言って両バンドとも『OSAKA 2016』と同一セットなのですが、HELLOWEENの“最強氏”コレクションというと、このところ『OSAKA 2008（Shades 1407）』『OSAKA 2011（Shades 1420）』『OSAKA 2013（Shades 1410）』と傑作が連発中。今回は、それらと比較してセットを整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。５人編成の最終作『MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT』からの新曲は餅論のこと、「Before the War」「Mr. Torture」もオイシイ。上記の三連作も名曲ラッシュだったにも関わらず、「まだこんなに良い曲が残っていたのか」と思い知らされる。そして何より「１つの時代が終わる」という感慨が凄い。もちろん、当時の観客もメンバーにも自覚はなかったのでしょうが、今となっては歴史的な事実の重みが宿っている。集大成的セットだからこそ、１曲１曲から各時代の想い出がフラッシュバックするライヴアルバムでもあるのです。
本作の後、新木場公演をもって来日公演が幕を閉じ、当時に“MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT Tour”が終わり、「５人時代」に終止符が打たれました。現在、全世界のメタル者を魅了している「７人HELLOWEEN」ですが、その素晴らしさは単なる「守護神伝リヴィジット」に終わらないところにある。原稿HELLOWEENの土台にして、再評価も叫ばれている「デリス５人時代」の最終章。どうぞ、本作で存分に極上体験してください！
