HEAVEN & HELL, a Sabbath reorganization project that has become the final beauty for the hero Ronnie James Dio. A full video that allows you to experience the glorious scene from a special seat is now available.
This work was filmed at “Hamilton Performance on September 20, 2007”. It is a superb view audience shot that can witness the whole story. HEAVEN & HELL was active for about 3 years until Ronnie passed away in 2010, and left two official videos “LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL” and “NEON NIGHTS: 30 YEARS OF HEAVEN & HELL”. What is the position of this work in that? It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s take a bird’s eye view of the whole activity.

This is the history of HEAVEN & HELL. 2007 was a tour for the best album “THE DIO YEARS”, 2008 was a festival tour “METAL MASTERS” with JUDAS PRIEST and MOTORHEAD, etc., and 2009 was a tour accompanying the new work “THE DEVIL YOU KNOW”. Under such circumstances, the Hamilton performance of this work is the 13th performance of the main leg “North America # 2” of the 2007 edition. It was a concert about half a year after the official “LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL”.
This work, which is a vacuum-packed version of such a show, is the latest footage released recently. The biggest point is the superb view. It is shot slightly looking down from the stand seat on the right side of the stage (Tony Iommi side), but there is no obstruction whether it is the front row or not. Moreover, it seems to be using a tripod (or a handrail in the front row?), and the sense of stability is amazing. And the bold zoom that is possible because it is supported by the superb view and sense of stability is powerful. Before the performance, it sways a little to find a viewpoint in the dark, but when the performance starts, the half of Ronnie and Iommi’s body spreads to fill the screen.
What’s more, it’s not just a do-up, it’s amazing that you carefully follow the members with a powerful zoom. For example, the scene where Ronnie jumps off the drum riser. It’s normal to frame out because it’s approaching at the highest zoom, but it captures Ronnie firmly in the middle (and smoothly). This shows the tremendous concentration of the photographer. It is a trick that can only be done by staring at Ronnie in the viewfinder and anticipating what he will do next. Of course, such concentration is impossible without loving BLACK SABBATH, and it will not continue unless one song is put into one song. This work is also a video that exudes (casually) the deep and deep love of such a photographer.
Furthermore, the sound of this work is also top-notch. The clear and dense sound is full of directness, and it can be released as a live album with only voice. Above all, there is no sense of distance, so there is no sense of discomfort even if it is super winded up.
With such a superb view quality, a full show of “LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL” will be experienced from the special seats. This time, let’s organize the set while raising the point of the whole picture of HEAVEN & HELL’s activities.
●Heaven & Hell (4 songs)
・Children Of The Sea/Die Young/Heaven And Hell/Neon Knights
●Devil’s Rule (4 songs)
・The Mob Rules/The Sign Of The Southern Cross(★)/Voodoo(★★)/Falling Off The Edge Of The World
●Others
– Dehumanizer: I/Computer God (★★)
・Dio Years: Shadow Of The Wind(★★)
* Note: “★” marks are songs that were not in “NEON NIGHTS”. In particular, the “★★” marks are limited songs until 2007.
… and it looks like this. Overall, the set is a shape-up of “LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL”. Thanks to narrowing down the number of songs, Ronnie, who was 65 years old, does not lose momentum until the end. And when you look at the whole activity, there are plenty of repertoires that have not been played since 2008, and you can feel the enthusiasm that the project has just started.
“First, let’s do a new song for the best album”, “Next time, let’s go on tour”, “Let’s make an album”… HEAVEN & HELL is not a super big plan, but “If it goes well, the next one” is 1. They piled up one by one. What is recorded in this work is the enthusiasm at the beginning of such a project. It is a stage that has just begun to bite the feeling that “This will go well!” A masterpiece video where you can enjoy such a full show from a special seat. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
★ Spectacular audience shot of “September 20, 2007 Hamilton performance”. In the recently released video, you can look down slightly from the second-floor stand seats and see a superb view with no obstructions. It is a masterpiece that combines a solid sense of stability, camera work that carefully follows the members, and clear and dense direct sound. About half a year after the reunion, you can experience a full show that will raise your spirits.
