The glorious “THE DANCE” era when they reunited and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The sound board album, which is also its representative work, is now available as a permanent preservation press 2CD.
“October 17, 1997 Irvine performance” is engraved on this work. It is a stereo sound board recording broadcasted by the prestigious WESTWOOD ONE. FLEETWOOD MAC was reunited in 1997 as a member of the golden age, but in 1998 Christine McVie left as early as the following year. It was the revival period of bubbles. Speaking of its symbol, the official live work “THE DANCE” reigns, but of course this work is a completely different performance. In order to remember the situation around that time, let’s first look back at the activity summary at that time.

This is the 1997/1998 FLEETWOOD MAC. “THE DANCE” was recorded at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank and released three months later. The reunion tour “THE DANCE” was held only in North America immediately after that, and the Irvine performance of this work was the 19th performance in the middle.
Such a show is also famous for being broadcast on the radio, and has reigned as a major standard among the standard that has produced many existing groups. This work is the highest peak board of such a king’s sound board. There are two reasons why it is called “the highest peak”. One is length. This show has been repeated many times due to the reunion of the golden members, but most of them were short broadcasts of 90 minutes or less. Under such circumstances, the source of this work is the original 120-minute frame broadcast version. It’s a little shorter because it’s a pure live album with only the performance part by cutting the CM, but it’s still a long version of about 100 minutes.
And another point is that it was created directly from the broadcast master. Originally digitized from the unused master LP, and of course a transfer in a high-end environment of 2022 specifications. Its accuracy is the highest ever, and it permanently preserves the supreme sound that should be called the official work.
The greatest hits played by the five golden people are depicted in such perfect official quality. As a matter of fact, even in this long broadcast version, it is not a complete recording of the show, but even so, masterpieces that could not be heard in “THE DANCE” are also shown. Let’s organize the set while comparing here.
Rumor (8 songs)
・The Chain/Dreams/Gold Dust Woman (★)/You Make Loving Fun/Oh Daddy (★)/Second Hand News (★)/Go Your Own Way/Don’t Stop
● Fantastic Mac (4 songs)
・I’m So Afraid/Landslide/Say You Love Me/Rhiannon
● Others (7 songs)
・The Dance: Temporary One / Bleed to Love Her / Silver Springs
・Others: Tusk/Gypsy/Stand Back (★)/Big Love
* Note: “★” marks are songs that cannot be heard on the official live album “THE DANCE”.
… and it looks like this. The centerpiece is the masterpiece “RUMOURS”, and the three songs that could not be heard in “THE DANCE” are performed, so 8 of the 11 songs are performed in a big way. Furthermore, Stevie Nicks’ “Stand Back” is featured, and you can enjoy a wider hit parade.
It is truly a historical absolute work that should be called “the sequel to THE DANCE”, its highest peak. The number of songs volume only because it is a long broadcast, the sound caused by the broadcast master, live performance with five golden people. A treasure chest full of masterpieces. Please enjoy it anytime, forever with the press 2CD that never loses its brilliance.
★ Stereo sound board recording of “October 17, 1997 Irvine Performance”. Although it is a long-standing classic, this work is a long broadcast version of about 100 minutes for the performance part alone, and the quality that is directly produced from the broadcast master is the highest ever. The repertoire that can not be heard in the official “THE DANCE” such as “Gold Dust Woman”, “Oh Daddy”, “Second Hand News” and Stevie Nicks’ “Stand Back” is also a delicious reunion era absolute work.
