今週はもう1作、2011年のエリック・クラプトン＆スティーヴ・ウィンウッドのロイヤル・アルバート・ホール（以下RAH）でのジョイント連続公演につき、イギリス在住の重鎮テーパーからもたらされた秘蔵DATマスターをリリース致します。本作は、2011年5月27日の2日目公演を超高音質ステレオ・オーディエンス録音で完全収録したものです。これもまた彼自身が録音を敢行したもので、ちょっと聴けば良質なサウンドボード録音かと思うほどの極上音質でした。座席は、恐らくRAHフロア席前方の好ポジションで、非常にクリアな上にサウンドバランスも良く、楽音も近く、ドンピシャでセンターに定位している、現代最高峰のステレオ・オーディエンス録音と言えるクオリティです。全編を通じて周りの客のオーディエンスノイズが一切入っていないという奇跡的な環境で録音されています。今回同時リリースの初日公演のタイトルも凄い音質でしたが、本作もそれに優るとも劣らない、素晴らしい音質です。当店の既発タイトルで、あの高音質だった「ROYAL FAITH NIGHTS(6CD)」をも上回っていますので、是非ご注目いただきたいと思います。

【セットリスト2曲追加！クラプトン絶好調のパフォーマンス！】

初日公演を成功裏に終えてリラックスしたのでしょうか、クラプトンはこの日は全編で「弾き捲り、弾き倒し」状態です。初日もクラプトンの調子は良く、名演としてGeorgia On My Mindを挙げましたが、この日は前半のHoochie Coochie ManとCrossroadsで、まさに神がかりと言うしかないような凄まじいプレイを披露しています。もちろんこの日のGeorgia On My Mindも名演なのですが、これら2曲はそれを上回るような究極のパフォーマンスなのです。これは是非聴いていただきたい。そして驚くべきことに、この日は中盤のシッティング・アコースティックセットで、初日には演奏されなかった2曲が追加されました。クラプトン主導のDriftin’とLaylaです。いつものクラプトンのワンマンコンサートでも、中盤のアコースティックセットで両曲は演奏されていますが、ここではウィンウッドとのジョイントということで、Driftin’ではクラプトンのソロに加え、ウィンウッドのオルガンソロがフィーチャーされていますし、この曲の前には、「去年も彼と何公演かやったけど、この会場では初めてになるんだ。やっぱりこの会場はいいね。」というクラプトンのコメントも捉えられています。これを聞くと、クラプトンはこのRAHでウィンウッドとやりたいがために、この年も彼とのジョイントを組んだのかもしれません。そしてLaylaでは、クラプトンのソロはイントロで、中間ではクリス・スティントンのエレピに続き、ウィンウッドのアコースティックギターソロがフィーチャーされているという旨味があります。クラプトンとのニュアンスの違いが楽しめ、ウィンウッドの上手さも実感できる、いいテイクです。当時のファン・サイトに上がっているレビューを見れば、ハイライトは中盤のシッティング・セットとVoodoo ChileとCocaineだったという意見が多く、年齢層の高かったオーディエンスの好みが如実に現われています。中盤でしっとりと大人のステージを見せた後の、この2曲での弾け具合、弾きまくりにオーディエンスは衝撃を受けたと想像されます。しかしながらその意見も含み、聴きごたえがあったのは、前半の前述したあの2曲、中盤のアコースティックセット、終盤の大団円、と考えてみると、結局「全部凄かった」のです。
