From Eric Clapton’s 2022 European tour, a complete recording of the superb audience source and audience shots of the performance in Düsseldorf, Germany on June 10th will be released as a coupling!
The sound source of this day, which was unpublished so far, is the original high-quality master provided by the familiar British heavyweight taper network. There is no doubt about the quality he provides, and the master of this work is a wonderful stereo audience recording that can be said to be the best. It is a recording of the highest peak with very clear sound quality. You can rest assured that you’ll be able to listen to it all the way through (although there are parts of I Shot the Sheriff that are so happy that they pick up the voices of the other songs they sing along with).
Furthermore, the coupled video is a high-quality complete recording version that is on the net, and it is shot from the second floor stand seat about 45 degrees to the left of the stage. It is a wonderful angle that all the band members can see, and the maximum up clearly captures Clapton’s waist up, which is a perfect angle to see the guitar well. In particular, the scene where I Shot the Sheriff’s playing after the performance is captured firmly with the waist up is impressive, so don’t miss it. There are no obstacles in the front, no troubles at all, and the sound quality is quite high, but I hope you can enjoy the audio with 2CDR, which has a better coupling.
At our shop, from the same tour, May 7th and 8th London, Royal Albert Hall performances, June 6th and 7th Amsterdam performances, 12th Antwerp performances, June 14th and 15th Copenhagen We have also released a complete recording video of the performance, but it is a high-quality video that is easier to watch than those. The monitor screens in this venue (stage) are a little different. Instead of being a single flat screen, it’s a deformed screen that spreads upwards with three steps. It is also a sight to see that the performance scene is projected there (I saw such a pattern for the first time).
In fact, during this tour, Clapton was infected with the coronavirus immediately after the performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 7th and 8th, and had to postpone the initial stage of the planned tour. It’s gone. Even if the announcement of the postponement is unavoidable, is the impact of the corona infection on the elderly Clapton life-threatening? Will you recover? What are the aftereffects of recovery? It was something that worried fans all over the world. Luckily, they returned to the tour safely from the Berlin performance on May 29th, relieving their fans. After that, the tour progressed smoothly, and this Dusseldorf performance was greeted. In this performance, Clapton is wearing a dark shirt and jeans. His slightly longer hair suits him well, and his looks are very intriguing (Clapton’s hairstyle in this video is definitely cooler than short hair that is almost shaved). A superb video that perfectly captures the whole picture of the restarted tour. Despite being sick, it is a wonderful image that you can once again enjoy the energetic appearance of professional Clapton who does not feel the impact of it. As a result, the postponed performance due to Clapton’s own coronavirus infection was rescheduled in the fall, and the scheduled performance in Russia was canceled due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It means that this performance was the latter half of this tour. In the second half of the tour, considering Clapton’s physical condition, which was recovering from a coronavirus infection, there was a feeling that after the tour resumed, it was fixed to a set list that would put less strain on the body as much as possible. There was a change in the first song of the acoustic set. I’m playing Blues All Day Long, the blues played on the “Nothing But the Blues Tour” in 1994-95. After that, the new song Kerry dedicated to the staff who passed away suddenly will be performed. This song was played in Japan this year, but it was already played on last year’s tour. This song can only be heard on this tour on this day. But after all, the highlight of this day is the performance at I Shot the Sheriff. As Clapton’s stage in recent years is conscious of himself, how exciting a solo can be with this song is also an indicator of the performance of the day’s stage. And the solo at the end of this song on this day was amazing! In the opening Pretending, in addition to the somewhat sluggish performance, the vocals do not even come out, revealing the dangerous parts and making the future uneasy, but this song makes a perfect recovery. It’s a day worth watching just to see these performances. The performance of the blues harp by Doyle Bramhall is also the best.
After that, the appearance of folding representative songs that should be called the royal road is proof of Clapton who has completely recovered. The Dusseldorf performance captured the appearance of Clapton, who resumed the tour in good spirits, and captured the good performance of the 2022 European tour. エリック・クラプトンの2022年ヨーロッパツアーから、6月10日のドイツ、デュッセルドルフ公演の極上オーディエンスソースとオーディエンスショットの完全収録映像がカップリングでリリース決定です！
これまで未発表だったこの日の音源は、お馴染みのイギリス在住の重鎮テーパーのネットワークから提供されたオリジナル高音質マスターです。 彼の提供してくれるクオリティには間違いはなく、本作のマスターも極上と言える素晴らしいステレオ・オーディエンス録音です。非常にクリアな音質で、最高峰の録音なのです。安心して最後まで聴き通していただけるでしょう（I Shot the Sheriffの曲中では、嬉しさのあまり一緒に歌う周りの曲の声を拾ってしまっている箇所がありますが）。
さらにカップリングした映像の方は、ネットに上がっている良質な完全収録版で、ステージに向かって左45度くらいの2階スタンド席から撮影されています。バンドメンバー全員が視野に入る素敵な角度で、最大のアップではクラプトンのウェストアップを鮮明に捉えており、角度的にもギターがよく見える絶好のアングルです。特にI Shot the Sheriffの後奏で弾き捲る姿をウェストアップでしっかり捉えたシーンは感動ものですので、お見逃しなく。前方に障害物もなく、トラブルも皆無で、音声もなかなかの高音質ですが、オーディオはやはりより優れたカップリングの2CDRで是非お楽しみいただければと思います。
当店では同ツアーからは、5月7日、8日のロンドン、ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール公演、6月6日、7日のアムステルダム公演、12日のアントワープ公演、6月14日、15日のコペンハーゲン公演の完全収録映像もリリースしておりますが、それらよりも観やすいハイクオリティ映像です。この会場（ステージ）のモニタースクリーンはちょっと変わっていまして、フラットなスクリーンが1枚設置されているのではなく、3段に段差をつけて上方に広がっていっている変形スクリーンとなっています。そこに演奏シーンが投影されるのも見ものです（こんなパターンは初めて見ました）。
実はクラプトンは、このツアー中5月7日、8日のロンドン、ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール公演の直後にコロナウィルスに感染してしまい、予定されていたツアーの初期行程を延期せざるを得なくなってしまいました。延期の発表は止むを得ないとしても、高齢のクラプトンへのコロナ感染症の影響について、命の危険は？快復するのか？快復しても後遺症は？など世界中のファンを心配させたものでした。幸いにも5月29日のベルリン公演から無事にツアー復帰し、ファンを安堵させました。その後は順調にツアーは進行し、このデュッセルドルフ公演を迎えたということです。この公演では、クラプトンはダークカラーのシャツにジーンズというカジュアルないでたちです。少し長めの髪もよく似合っており、ルックス的にも非常にそそられます（クラプトンは坊主に近い短髪よりも、絶対この映像の髪型の方がかっこいいです）。再開されたツアーの全貌を完璧に捉えた極上映像。病み上がりにもかかわらず、その影響を微塵も感じさせないプロフェッショナルなクラプトンの元気な姿を再び堪能できる素晴らしい映像です。本作も是非コレクションに加えていただければと思います。

ということで、クラプトン自身のコロナウィルス感染により延期された公演は秋にリスケされ、予定されていたロシアでの公演は、ロシアのウクライナ侵攻を非難してキャンセルということになりましたので、結果的にはこの公演はこのツアーの後半だったということになります。ツアーも後半に入り、しかもコロナウィルス感染症からの病み上がりというクラプトンの体調を考慮し、ツアー再開後はなるべく体への負担の少ないセットリストに固定化された感がありましたが、ここにきてアコースティックセットの1曲目に変化がありました。94年～95年の「ナッシング・バット・ザ・ブルース・ツアー」でプレイされたブルース、 Blues All Day Longを久々にプレイしています。さらに続いては、急逝したスタッフに捧げた新曲Kerryが披露されます。この曲は今年の日本公演でもプレイされましたが、既に昨年のツアーでもプレイしていたわけです。この曲がこのツアーで聴けるのはこの日だけです。しかし何と言ってもこの日の聴きどころ、観どころはI Shot the Sheriffでの熱演でしょう。近年のクラプトンのステージでは本人も意識しているように、この曲でどれほどエキサイティングなソロができるかということがその日のステージの出来を占う指標にもなっています。そしてこの日のこの曲の後奏でのソロは凄かった！オープニングのPretendingではややもたつき感のある演奏に加え、ボーカルで声も出てなかったりと、危うい部分を露呈して先行きを不安視させるのですが、この曲で完璧に挽回します。これらのパフォーマンスを観られるだけでも価値がある日です。ドイル・ブラムホールによるブルースハープのパフォーマンスも最高です。
後は王道とも言うべき代表曲を畳みかけていく姿は、完全に元気を取り戻したクラプトンの証明です。元気にツアーを再開したクラプトンの姿を捉え、2022年ヨーロッパツアーの好演を捉えたデュッセルドルフ公演。極上ステレオ・オーディエンス録音と極上オーディエンスショットで完全網羅した3枚組の本作で是非ご鑑賞ください。
