This board is a DVD version of the best master of the relay video of the Budokan performance on February 25, which was aired on satellite broadcasting in the same year from Eric Clapton’s Japan tour in February 2009! In addition to the superb image quality, it has the finest sound quality. First, let’s see what kind of position this performance occupied in Clapton’s activities this year.

You can see that this Japan tour was the first big job after the new year. My favorite tour in Japan after the new year. This tour, which kicked off in Osaka, was whispered as the performance progressed, and it was whispered that it was an outstanding performance even in the past 18 Japan tours. At that timing, the Budokan performance on February 25, which was the ninth performance, was recorded. This video was aired by satellite broadcasting on March 15th of the following month. It captured all the charm of the band and set list at this time. On this tour, there was Doyle Bramhall II, the best partner as Clapton’s right arm, and Ave Laborial Jr. was appointed as a drum by borrowing from Paul McCartney. Unlike the light-hearted Steve Jordan and the steady Steve Gadd, the bottom and tame drumming brought a new breeze to Clapton’s repertoire. His combination with veteran bassist Willie Weeks also worked well. And the set list was only for this tour.

Isn’t It A Pity, a tribute to Clapton’s best friend George Harrison, who died in 2001; Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad, by Derek & the Dominos, the band that recorded this number with George; and Doyle. Electric and standing Layla, who was able to play because she was there! Amazing force…this is a must-see.

Clapton, who had a successful collaboration with the late Jeff Beck in Saitama and was full of both physical condition and energy, played Daphne Blue’s custom strat used only for this year’s tour throughout the whole story. It is the main board that you can appreciate the whole picture of this special tour with the highest image quality and sound. One piece in the family, it is a name live video that you should have.

このジャパンツアーが、オフ明けの新年最初の大仕事だったことがえ分かりいただけるでしょう。新年明けての大好きな日本でのツアー。大阪で幕を開けたこのツアーは、公演が進むに連れて、18回に及ぶ歴代のジャパンツアーにあっても際立ったパフォーマンスだという評判が囁かれるようになっていました。そのタイミングで9公演目に当たった2月25日の武道館公演が映像収録されたわけです。この映像は翌月の3月15日に衛星放送でオンエアされました。そこにはこの時のバンド、セットリストの魅力のすべてが捉えられていました。このツアーでは、クラプトンの右腕としては最高のパートナーであるドイル・ブラムホール二世がおり、ドラムには何とポール・マッカートニーから借り受ける形でエイヴ・ラボリアル・ジュニアが起用されていました。軽快なスティーヴ・ジョーダンともステディなスティーヴ・ガッドとも違う、ボトムとタメの利いたドラミングは、クラプトンのレパートリーに新風を吹き込みました。彼とベテラン名ベーシスト、ウィリー・ウィークスとのコンビネーションもうまく機能しました。そしてセットリストがこのツアーだけのものでした。

2001年に亡くなったクラプトンの親友、故ジョージ・ハリスンに捧げるIsn’t It A Pity、このナンバーをジョージとレコーディングした時のバンド、デレク＆ザ・ドミノスのWhy Does Love Got To Be So Sad、そしてドイルがいたからこそプレイできたエレクトリック＆スタンディングのLayla！凄い迫力・・・これは必見です。

埼玉で故ジェフ・ベックとのコラボを成功させ、体調・気力共に充実していたクラプトンは全編を通じてこの年のツアーだけで使用したダフネブルーのカスタムストラトを弾き捲っています。この特別なツアーの全貌を最高の画質とサウンドで鑑賞することができるのが本盤です。一家に一枚、持っていただくべき名ライブ映像です。
