Nowadays, the era of “THE HOUSE OF BLUE LIGHT”, which has been re-evaluated remarkably. Two sister works by the original masters of the industry will be released at the same time!
This work is the second of two consecutive releases released at the same time this week. It is a masterpiece audience recording of “April 17, 1987 Hartford performance”. Speaking of 1987, it is famous for the official traditional board “NOBODY’S PERFECT”, and this week the sister work “PORTLAND 1987 (Shades 1501)” will be released at the same time. In terms of organizing that area, let’s first confirm the position of the show from the schedule at that time.

This is 1987 DEEP PURPLE. For the sake of clarity, the following 1988 is omitted (By the way, the Italian performance adopted for “NOBODY’S PERFECT” is slightly different depending on the material, so it is marked with “?”). The simultaneous release of “PORTLAND 1987” was the second performance of the North American tour, but the Hartford performance of this work is the concert the next day. This work is also an original master brought by the same related party route, and it is exactly a sister work for two consecutive days.
However, even if the route and position are sisters, the sound is not so. In fact, my sister’s work is a beautiful recording that shines brighter. The point is “clearness”. My sister’s work “PORTLAND 1987” also had a powerful sound that didn’t feel the distance, but this work has a clearer crystal clear air and is crisp and vivid to the edge of the contour. Of course, the on and powerful core is not defeated by “PORTLAND 1987”, and the glittering high-pitched tone is overwhelmingly superior. It is a masterpiece recording of brilliance that can be given without hesitation even with the compliment of “like a sound board” that was difficult to use in “PORTLAND 1987”.
What is drawn with such a brilliant beautiful sound is a full show with a different atmosphere from the previous day. Let’s organize them while comparing them here.

…… And it looks like this. “Mad Dog”, which was the centerpiece of the previous day, has fallen, and instead, the big classic “Black Night” is back. Even though I replaced only one song, the effect of lowering the concentration of the new song was surprisingly large, and I felt like I was getting closer to “NOBODY’S PERFECT”. However, the details are different, “The Unwritten Law” with a drum solo is unique to this period, and even with “Hard Lovin’Woman”, the arrangement of knitting “Under The Gun” with a guitar solo is fresh. It is also a point that the show is better as a result of the replacement. To be honest, it is unavoidable that the “Mad Dog”, which was precious but barely squeezed, will fall, and it is connected to a heavy feeling, probably because the anxiety factor has disappeared.
This work shines with the beauty of the sound, as opposed to “PORTLAND 1987”, which had a delicious extremely rare song. It is a series of two masterpieces that are sisters but have completely different personalities. The famous one is the one recorded by my sister, but my sister’s work is superior to the listening response as a live album. Please enjoy it with your sisters.

これが1987年のDEEP PURPLE。分かりやすくするため、翌1988年は省略しています(ちなみに『NOBODY’S PERFECT』に採用されたイタリア公演は資料によって微妙に異なるので「?」付きとしました)。同時リリースの『PORTLAND 1987』は北米ツアー2公演目だったわけですが、本作のハートフォード公演はその翌日にあたるコンサート。本作もまた同じ関係者ルートでもたらされたオリジナル・マスターで、まさに2日連続の姉妹作なのです。
ただし、ルートやポジションは姉妹であってもサウンドはそうでもない。実は、妹の本作の方がグッと輝く美録音なのです。そのポイントは「クリアさ」。姉作『PORTLAND 1987』も距離を感じない力強いサウンドでしたが、本作はさらに空気感がクリスタル・クリアに透き通り、輪郭の端の端までキリッと鮮やか。もちろん、オンで力強い芯は『PORTLAND 1987』にも負けていませんし、キラキラとした高音の伸びも圧倒的に上。『PORTLAND 1987』では使いづらかった「まるでサウンドボード」の賛辞も気兼ねなく贈れる輝きの名録音なのです。
そんなブリリアントな美音で描かれるのは、前日とは雰囲気の変わったフルショウ。ここで比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。前日の目玉だった「Mad Dog」が落ちてしまい、その代わり大定番「Black Night」が復活。1曲入れ替えただけとは言え、新曲の濃度が下がった効果は意外と大きく、グッと『NOBODY’S PERFECT』に近づいた感じ。ただし、細部は異なっており、ドラムソロを盛り込んだ「The Unwritten Law」はこの時期ならではですし、「Hard Lovin’ Woman」にしてもギターソロで「Under The Gun」をは編み込むアレンジが新鮮です。入れ替えの結果ショウの出来が良くなっているのもポイント。正直なところ、貴重ではあってもギランがギリギリだった「Mad Dog」が落ちるのは致し方のないところであり、不安要素が消えたおかげか重い気の良さに繋がっているのです。
激レア曲が美味しかった『PORTLAND 1987』に対し、サウンドの美しさで輝く本作。姉妹でありながら個性のまるで違う傑作2連作です。有名なのは姉録音の方ではありますが、ライヴアルバムとしての聴き応えは妹の本作が上を行く。どうぞ、姉妹合わせてたっぷりとご堪能ください。
